Fogelin kuvaaja55–64v- Arvosana 5/5
I purchased this with the R6mk2 to lighten the overall weight of the set up. Whilst the R6 is lighter, than the 1DX mk2 I had, the RF 100-500 is heavier than the EF 100-400mk2. I suppose it should've been expected. Overall it is a great lens and I really like the lock which stops the lens extending whilst pointed down. I've had really good results using it for Military aviation in windy conditions. I have many events coming up so am looking forward to being continually happy with the results
Great Piece of Kit
Arvosana 5/5Really pleased with this lens which I bought recently having taken the decision to swap to mirrorless. I've previously been using an 850D with a Sigma 150-600mm lens. The new combination is so much lighter which was one of the deciding factors for me and I'm using it to photograph Dragonflies close up and more distant birds. The results are impressive for both.
An impressive lens!
Arvosana 5/5An impressive lens, though it takes some adjustment. As a sports photographer focusing on rugby, transitioning from the EF 70-200mm f/2.8 (with adapter) required some time to adapt to the zoom ring placement, the external zooming mechanism, and the multiple rotations needed to shift from 100mm to 500mm.
That said, the image quality is just as sharp as the 70-200mm. Cropped shots taken at a distance appear especially crisp compared to the 70-200mm, where I may have been pushing the limits before. Thankfully, with the resolution of the R5, cropping isn’t a concern.
Best lens choices of all time..
Arvosana 5/5So, I chose this over the 200-800 simply because I felt it would more versatile and higher quality being an ‘L’ series lens and so likely to get more use. Well, this lens goes with me on every trip now unlike the 150-600 I used to have. Focussing is instant and precise, image quality is absolutely spot on and razor sharp at all lengths. Its close focus ability and excellent image stabilisation make this an outstanding lens that delivers superb results in all sorts of conditions. Build quality is up to the usual Canon calibre making this one of my best lens choices of all time, nice one Canon…..
Great Lens
Arvosana 5/5Purchased as an upgrade from EF100-400, as such a great improvement of course. All the superlatives that have been used in describing this lens apply, what more can I add? Mainly that it’s a great relief to be able to shed the weight of adaptor and extender, and this lens is lighter and smaller anyway. Expensive (naturally) but I think a worthwhile upgrade if you’ve gone mirrorless.
Absolutely Fantastic
Arvosana 5/5I am a motorsports photographer and this lens ticks all the boxes for all my needs on circuit as well as on the grid and in the pits as well
Wildlife Capture
Arvosana 5/5I purchased the RF 100-500mm lens, a few months ago, following reviews from friends and online. I have just come back from a holiday in Scotland and was luck enough to photograph Pine Martens and other wildlife. The results have surpassed my expectations as an amateur photographer. I tend to use the Tv setting and on the odd occasion change various auto settings to suit the environment. Can't wait to see results on a big screen.
Startling good.
Arvosana 5/5I've shot with the EF 70-200/2.8, and a couple editions of the IS version of that. For me the 70-200/2.8 is a must-have lens, but only in a set with the 1.4x and 2.0x teleconverters.
This lens to me BASICALLY works like a 70-200/2.8 that has the 1.4x attached, but if you zoom farther in effect has the 2.0x attached, but can go even farther as if it has a 2.5x attached. However the images to me seem far better than the EF70-200/2.8's even without teleconverters, much less with. It is FAR better optically, and the IS is excellent.
The things that suck most about this lens are what sucks about ALL RF lenses: the front cap and back cap are both FAR harder to use than the EF versions. By the time I manage to get an RF back cap on I'm so frustrated I want to throw the entire camera in a ditch and lose my train of thought completely about my photographic project.
Compact, light and ideal range.
Arvosana 5/5A great lens that covers many genres from sport to wildlife whilst being light and practical for general use.
