Moving to mirrorless for weight and size. First got an A6000, but this A6500 is a big improvement in facilities, sharpness from the in-body stabilisation, and battery life. The menus are a little more clear, and the scrolling more intuitive. A very neat camera, and lovely lenses, too.

I sold my Sony 6100 and bought 6500 and i am happy. Image stab and colors profiles is a good add!

Great sensor. Small, compact and will a pancake len, pocketable. Great dynamic range, autofocus options, bright EVF and custom buttons. would recommend for travel and street photography (I don’t use the video options)

It sits above the similar-looking a6000 that I have before this one, Sony adds a touchscreen capability and stabilization for enthusiasts willing to dig a little deeper into their pockets.

Upgraded from a5100 to a6500. Well worth the upgrade.

Now have choice of viewfinder or screen.

still love being able to focus by touching screen for focus point.

Now I dont have to go through menus to get favourite adjustments - just click on 'c' or other buttons. Don't do movie's so cannot comment on that

My A3 size prints are brilliant quality

I have been a user of Sony full frame cameras for 7 years. Early in the pandemic I had an opportunity to buy a Sony A6500. I was tempted by the idea of a lighter camera and lens as it appealed for when I am out walking all day taking photos. I was amazed by how good the results were. The full frame cameras have the edge in low light or for high resolution, but the A6500 comes very close. Coupled with a Zeiss or G lens you can create great sharp images. I also find the built in flash useful for occasions when you want fill in. If you want a small lightweight camera that produces great results I can recommend the A6500.

There is so much to love about the A6500. I bought it with the 18-135 lens and it's brilliant for almost all everyday situations, the size and weight are great (especially for hiking) , the auto focus in particular is super fast and accurate. I love the latitude of the pictures, you can seriously under expose parts of the image and have other bits over exposed and using Lightroom process the image to look just right. Tracking auto focus for photographing birds and animals is fantastic. There are 2 things I do not like 1) the screen has very limited movement, I thought I would be able to live with it but it's hopeless for proper low level photography of flowers etc, you can not use it at all in a portrait orientation and for that reason I wouldn't buy a camera with this screen again (why do Sony think only Full frame users want a proper screen!) and 2) After 2 years mine has become unreliable, sometimes it just freezes, sometimes the buttons and dials behave in a very strange way, sometimes it just seems to have a life of its own.... which is very frustrating!

I do not use it for video so I find it impossible to rate the sound quality!

I've had this for 3 weeks. Main reason for purchase was to mount my vintage Canon fd lenses. The body stabilisation and contrast focus assist this.

This camera is pretty good, but the battery lifespan is killing me everytime.. Battery go down to 0 from 100 in 1hour..

I regret. time lapse is not installed. applications that are not purchased in my country.

This is my first "big" camera. Its great for travel as it is small and lightweight and still great photo and video quality!

I have used many of the A6000 series products and they work well. The A6500 is a good goto camera for video and stills for run and gun type photography.

Tekee hyviä kuvia, värit tallentuvat todella hyvin. Ominaisuuksissa riittää, tosin valikko on todella sekava eikä laitteen mukana tullut ohjekirjaa vaan se täytyy lukea netistä. Moni ominaisuus vaatii toimiakseen jonkin toisen ominaisuuden kytkemisen päälle/pois päältä. Youtubestakin tosin löytyy monesti ohjevideoita Sonyn kameran asetusten löytämiseksi. Yölliseen kuvaukseen hyvä. Sarjakuvaus todella nopea, tosin asetukset täytyy säätää kohdalleen senkin ominaisuuden saavuttamiseksi. Tuki kaukosäätimelle tuli tarpeeseen, koska kännykälle asennettava "kaukosäädin-sovellus" oli todella huono ja rajallinen toiminnallisuudeltaan. NEX-VG20 videokamerassa käyttämäni kaukosäädin toimi tällekin kameralle.

I upgraded from a6000 and I'm so glad I did. It has few features I needed like IBIS and mic. input. There's also improved AF, especially noticeable with 3rd party lenses. I know a6400 is the newer, better camera, but for me IBIS is more important

Through problems with my hand, i needed to change from a excellent heavy camera to something lighter. I am delighted with the size, weight and speed of this camera. The quality of the photos are superb.

Well made camera that has improved over time from the NEX7 I still own. Have not owned the camera very long, but I am very pleased with the picture quality.

I needed a light camera for travel and wanted to upgrade. After looking at the 6300 and 6400 i decided on the 6500 for little features such as the upgraded stabalisation sending photos on the move to a phone etc. All in all after coming back from the first trip the photos are amazing and clear, the camera is easy to us, lightweight and compact. Everything i was looking for and more.

The camera build quality feels solid and dependable, the image results are as good as you could hope in this class. The size is attracitve for travel, being smaller than it's full frame counterparts. The lense range is relatily limited ot some of the other big names, but my hobbiest needs are covered quite well.

I recommend it for video ,it make amazing video and portable for travelling

Holiday ahead with my new camera. Much to look forward to.

I've been using the a6500 during my travels for both photography and filming and it has performed great. Photos and videos have plenty of detail and sharpness in part thanks to the image stabilisation. The battery life could be better and I wish the LCD monitor would maintain high brightness during shooting in 4K and some slow motions modes. The video record button is badly placed so I have had to use a custom button to active movie capture when filming. A fine camera deserving the use of quality lenses to get to best out of it.

Good handful of photographic capability. Very surprised to find Can't upload a picture here. Reports file to large?

I got this a few weeks ago because of the new features . I already have the original A7,this is just another lighter option to the full frame camera with the latest updates. My only quibble is the screen, it should swing out instead of over. Or perhaps the camera could be a bit taller so the screen could come all the way up.
