The solution accelerates ordering, reduces manual tasks, and streamlines daily operations.
“The barrier to ordering necessary equipment is lower now that employees know it doesn't create unnecessary work for anyone. Everything is handled in just a few messages,” says SSH CFO Michael Kommonen.
Streamlining daily operations and enhancing the employee experience
At SSH, employees choose their own work equipment within set budget limits. However, in a company of over a hundred people, handling inquiries and order requests previously burdened the IT team.
The goal was to minimize unnecessary hassle and create a more agile process for everyone involved.
“Previously, employees would email to ask if they could order a device and if they were eligible. Now, a bot handles everything automatically, connecting to the HR system and the Verkkokauppa.com API,” says Kommonen.
Smart solutions built on APIs
Verkkokauppa.com supports a wide range of integration APIs, enabling quick and easy ordering directly from customers' own systems. The company supports all major procurement interfaces, including Coupa, Ariba, and EDI, and has co-created customized automated ordering solutions with customers—such as SSH’s AI-assisted ordering solution.
“Our IT team knew about Verkkokauppa.com's APIs and saw an opportunity to integrate them with our Salax instant messaging solution. The project moved fast, and the SSH IT-Superstore was live within weeks,” says Kommonen.
Designed for equipment procurement, the solution allows employees to chat with an AI bot in Salax to request a device. The bot verifies eligibility from the HR system and fetches real-time pricing, availability, and model details via the Verkkokauppa.com API.
“If the employer's reimbursement limit is exceeded, the bot automatically calculates the employee's share. Once the order is confirmed, the new equipment is delivered directly to the office,” Kommonen explains.
