After months of researching and comparing machines from Breville, Philips, SMEG and other De'Longhi models, I finally settled on the Rivelia with Steam Wand (Arctic White), and I couldn't be happier with the decision.

What ultimately sold me was the balance between automation and control. Unlike fully automatic milk systems, the manual steam wand gives me enough control to texture milk properly for flat whites and piccolos while still enjoying the convenience of a bean-to-cup machine. Since I usually make coffee for both my wife and myself, this has proven to be the perfect compromise.

The standout feature is undoubtedly the Bean Switch System. I currently have Seven Seeds' Golden Gate in one hopper and plan to keep other hoppers loaded with Code Black's Ex-Wife and a decaf blend. Being able to switch between beans without emptying the hopper is a genuinely useful innovation, not just a marketing gimmick. It suits households that enjoy different coffees throughout the day and encourages experimenting with different roasters.

The Bean Adapt Technology is another pleasant surprise. It provides a solid starting point for dialling in new beans, although a little fine-tuning of grind size and strength still makes a noticeable difference. Once dialled in, the coffee is consistently excellent.

The touchscreen interface is intuitive, the machine is compact enough for most kitchens, and cleaning is refreshingly straightforward. Choosing the steam wand version also means fewer milk system components to dismantle and clean compared with automatic milk carafes. The Rivelia is designed to make coffee approachable while still giving users room to personalise their drinks.

Most importantly, the coffee quality has exceeded my expectations for a super-automatic machine. No, it won't completely replace a dedicated espresso setup with a quality grinder and portafilter, but it gets remarkably close while requiring a fraction of the effort. For everyday flat whites and piccolos, it's consistently smooth, balanced and enjoyable.

Cons

Espresso still won't quite match the depth and precision of a dedicated manual espresso machine, which is a common limitation of bean-to-cup machines.

It takes a little experimentation to get the best settings for each coffee bean.

The additional bean hoppers are so useful that you'll probably end up buying more!

Overall, I think the Rivelia with Steam Wand is ideal for people who genuinely appreciate good coffee but don't necessarily want espresso-making to become a hobby. It delivers café-quality convenience while still allowing enough control to satisfy coffee enthusiasts. For my household, it has been an outstanding purchase and one I would happily recommend.

We have had our coffee machine at our workplace for the last month, and I cannot believe how amazing the quality of the coffee is. It easily beats our coffee shop down the road. Obviously reliant on the quality of the beans, but amazing nonetheless. Requires basically no cleaning. Everything is automated. Genuinely life changing!!!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I had bought a very upmarket coffee machine (well-known brand) but from the moment I left the store it gave me trouble. Coffee had been weak and lukewarm at best and the brew somehow just went into the tray instead of cups. After wading through all trouble-shooting files, I returned the beast to the store. I hadn't had my morning coffee. An urgent replacement was required. Nope not available despite all efforts. Fortunately, a different store had a perfect replacement. The De'Longhi Rivelia was initially the coffee machine of my dreams particularly with its interchangeable bean hopper feature (as I switch to Lavazza Dek after 11 am - great Decaf). I brought home the De'Longhi Rivelia and expected the usual nightmare setup. However, it was intuitive, well-documented and its little screen on the top had very clear steps (unlike the previously returned machine for which a Degree in Barista Studies was required.) Anyway, the Rivelia has been easy as pie to program in all the different coffee styles to specific tastes and our Profiles are now underway. Today was my first morning of staggering to the coffee machine, pressing my personal profile setting latte which was not only nice and hot but also delicious. Whoohoo! I love the fact that you can press stop and reduce the amount of froth/foam if you feel like a change. The machine looks gorgeous on my kitchen bench and the white matches the background tiles exactly so that it isn't 'in your face'. I previously had a Stainless Steel Dedica (which I loved but it developed leaks over the 8 years I had it,) and after changing the gasket several times, I finally gave it a burial and thanked it for its service. Somehow, we keep buying De'Longhi appliances, not to go all matchy-matchy, but they are always the best models of their time and fairly priced. I hope to have the Rivelia for many years.

There are lots of drinks options to choose from, and we are able to customise the settings to get the perfect cup of coffee. It is much quicker and cleaner than trying to muck around with a grinder and a milk frothing wand and the results are just as good, if not better, than we can do ourselves on the manual machine It feels like proper luxury early in the morning to push a gew buttons and *voila* coffee done.

                  Negative: Milk frother and coffee are too close together for my liking, it's a bit squishy when placing your cup. Secondly, I wish this machine had a manual frothing option as well as auto, like my Eletta Cappuccino does. Thirdly, the machine does have the option to increase the temperature, but you still won't get a super-hot coffee. I prewarm my Yeti with boiling water before adding coffee and milk and this helps
                  Positive: I love this machine in white! Perfect for anyone else sick of black and silver appliances. It's a nice compact machine and the touch screen controls look amazing. Having 4 user profiles is perfect for my family. You set each name and colour/avatar. It will use your name in the on-screen messaging. I also love having two removable bean hoppers. Whether you use it for storage and a quick changeover when empty or for different beans such as decaf, it's a nice quick process. The machine has lots of customisation options and onscreen tips/instructions if needed.
                  I'm very happy with the coffee and milk results. We've tried cow's milk and plant based with good results. Next task is for the family to start programming our favourite brews!

Helppokäyttöinen kone, ei moitittavaa. Kahvin saa nopeasti.

Helppokäyttöinen ja hyvännäköinen laite. Ongelmana on liian pieni vesisäiliö ja liian pieni kahvipurujen säiliö. Vesisäiliötä joutuu jatkuvasti täyttämään ja kahvipurujen säiliötä tyhjentämään. Ehkä kone on vain liian pieni meidän käyttöön. Myös vesisäiliön täytön jälkeen aina ensimmäinen kupillinen epäonnistuu epämääräiseen virheilmoitukseen. Ilmeisesti koneen sisällä oleva vesimäärä ei riittä kahvin tekemiseen, eikä kone osaa ottaa täytetystä vesitankista lisävettä kuin vasta seuraavan kahvivalinnan tehtyä.

Laadukas tuote, saa tehtyä erinomaisen kahvin pavuista. Ja myös jauheesta. Oli helppo ottaa käyttöön.Helppo pitää puhtaana. Asiallisen näköinen.

Olen tyytyväinen. Kahvi on sellaista kuin halusin, hieman parempaakin. Helppo käyttöönotto, näytön ohjeita seuraten. Ylläpito on helppoa, näyttöhän ohjaa tarvittaessa. Pesu helppoa. Veden täyttö sivusta, helppoa. Korkeaa tilaa ei tarvitse. Syvyysmitta kannattaa huomioida, 43cm. Kaksi säiliötä on hyvä. Mulla yhdessä espresso papuja ja toisessa tavallisia kahvipapuja. Melko nopea kahvi, eikä kovempaa ääntä ole pitkäkestoisesti. OFF tilasta kuppi on valmis noin 1min ja 50sek jos kahvin valitsee miettimättä. Keitin tiputtaa vettä lämmitysvaiheessa ja sammuessaan auto-OFF. Tippavesi menee säiliöön, mutta voi myös laittaa kupin muistaessaan hanan alle.
