When mechanical switches are pressed down, they produce a distinct click sound, which is what mechanical keyboards are known for. If you're gaming while chatting or recording yourself typing, that click sound will inevitably be captured. Plus, it can be a bit distracting for anyone else in the same space while you type.

The good news is that you can easily address this noisy issue by getting O-ring dampeners for your keyboard. These dampeners minimize the impact of the switch and keycap, making your typing experience even quieter. They also change the feel of the keys while typing and soften the impact. There are various dampener rings available for perfect keyboard customization, and they are compatible with RGB-lit keyboards as well. You can find four different O-ring options with varying hardness and thicknesses, and you can check them out here. Each package includes 120 rings.

Differences in O-rings:
40A* - Thick: Thickness 2.5 mm, hardness 40A, transparent silicone, soft press, short actuation distance
40A - Thin: Thickness 1.5 mm, hardness 40A, transparent silicone, soft press, long actuation distance
70A - Thick: Thickness 2.5 mm, hardness 70A, transparent silicone, firm press, short actuation distance
70A - Thin: Thickness 1.5 mm, hardness 70A, transparent silicone, firm press, long actuation distance

The thickness of the dampener indicates how much it shortens the distance the key must be pressed before it registers. A thick 2.5 mm dampener allows the key to be pressed a very short distance before it's recognized as being pressed.

The hardness of the dampener helps understand how the key feels when pressed. Lower values mean the key feels softer.

*40A refers to the material hardness on the 40 Shore Durometer A scale - higher values indicate harder materials.
