Advanced autofocus for E-mount cameras with A-mount lenses

The LA-EA5 enables the use of SSM and SAM lenses with the latest E-mount cameras and supports extensive phase-detection autofocus as well as subject recognition features such as real-time Eye AF (for humans and animals), real-time tracking, and many others. For more information on compatible cameras and lenses, see Compatibility.

AF/AE tracking, up to 11 fps

The advanced adapter compatible with the latest E-mount cameras makes A-mount SSM and SAM lenses compatible with E-mount lens AF/AE tracking even when shooting continuously at up to 11 frames per second[FN_03]. For more information on compatible cameras and lenses, see Compatibility.

Autofocus and AF/AE tracking for lenses without motors

The LA-EA5 supports all A-mount lenses, including models without built-in motors. It supports phase-detection autofocus, real-time Eye AF (for humans and animals), real-time tracking, and continuous AF/AE tracking at up to 11 frames per second. For more information on compatible cameras and lenses, see Compatibility.

Compact cylindrical design

The new compact autofocus unit and aperture control unit are integrated into a sleek cylindrical lens adapter. The adapter’s diameter matches that of A-mount lenses, so no protruding parts extend from its bottom when used with an E-mount camera. This ensures a comfortable grip and effortless handling even when the camera is attached to a vertical grip.
