✨ Product Test | Philips Lumea IPL 8000 Series with SenseIQ ✨

I’ve been testing the Philips Lumea IPL 8000 Series BRI949/00 and wanted to share my honest thoughts because I know IPL devices can feel like a bit of an investment.

First impressions — it feels really premium and well made, and I love that it comes with different attachments for different areas. I was honestly a little apprehensive about using IPL at home, but I found the Lumea surprisingly easy to get the hang of.

The SenseIQ technology is probably one of my favourite features. It recognises your skin tone and helps select a suitable light intensity, which made me feel much more confident about using it, especially when I was still getting used to the device.

The treatments themselves are fairly quick, although you do need to be consistent. This definitely isn’t a use it once and never shave again kind of product 😂 — but with regular treatments, I’ve noticed that the hair growth in the areas I’ve been treating has become slower and the hair feels finer.

I also really like the convenience of being able to do it from home. No salon appointments, no travelling anywhere and I can fit it around my own routine.

The honest bit:

It does take commitment and patience. You need to follow the recommended treatment schedule and keep on top of it to see the best results. It’s also not completely painless — depending on the area and your sensitivity, you can feel a warm or slightly sharp sensation — but I personally found it manageable.

Overall, I’m genuinely impressed with it. If you’re considering investing in an at-home IPL device, the Lumea 8000 Series is definitely one I’d recommend looking into. It feels like a good-quality device and, most importantly, I can actually see a difference with consistent use. 💗

A very good investment; you have to be consistent, but it's worth it.

We should be able to send daily reminders 1-2 days before a session is due and saily reminders until it is completed for adequate reminders, only 1 reminder the day before or only the day of isnt always helpful

I’m genuinely impressed with this device. I started seeing results by the third treatment, which completely eased my initial hesitation about the price. The option to pay monthly with no interest made the decision even easier, and I’m so glad I went for it.

Using it is effortless; the treatments are painless, and the device automatically adjusts the intensity based on your skin tone, so you always feel confident you’re using it correctly. I’m heading into summer feeling stress‑free, and honestly, becoming a hairless woman for a very long time feels amazing.

Just stay consistent with your sessions and the results will speak for themselves. Absolutely worth it.

I have been using this regularly now for ages and seen no improvement in my hair growth. I can't believe it as this was a lot of money for me to spend and I chose it over other devices thinking it would be the best. It is for my bikini area. I will continue to keep using it every two weeks in the hope I will see some results but it has been months since I should have moved into the touch up phase but instead I continue the fortnightly treatment plan because I am yet to see results. All I can do is keep using it and hope i see some results but as time goes on my heart is sinking that this expensive device just doesn't work. So disappointed. I had to save up for this.

I have used my Lumia infrequently as I either forget to shave or run out of time, but even though I haven’t got into a regular routine I can see such a difference already. I think once I start using it properly all that will be left will be the grey hairs as expected. The attachments allow for accurate targeting of each area.

The product works well in some areas and does not bring so much benefit to others. I would recommend for arms, legs and face but not so much for smaller and difficult to reach areas. The device is not easy to manage and to cover perfectly the areas being treated. Bikini area and stomach for example are cumbersome to treat and you are always wondering if it was properly done.

After one time using, it doesn’t work anymore, it doesn’t charge at all

My hair is definitely getting thinner. But not completely gone. Im on my 6th treatment snd hair is still not gone. Summers coning up would like it to be gone.

I’ve been using my Laser Lumia device for about three months and it works well. However, the glass treatment window has developed stains that won’t come off even with a damp cloth. Could you please advise how to clean it properly

I previously owned an older Philips Lumea model that lasted over 10 years before finally breaking, so I felt confident upgrading to this newer version. I mainly wanted it to keep on top of a few patchy areas, and I’m really pleased with the results so far.

This model feels well designed and comfortable to use – the ergonomics are noticeably better, making treatments easier and less awkward. The SenseIQ feature is reassuring and helps tailor the treatment, which gives extra confidence when using it. It feels powerful, well made, and very much like a premium product.

Hair regrowth has been slower and finer, even after just a few sessions, which is exactly what I was hoping for. It’s easy to use, effective, and a great update from my previous device.

The only downside is storage – despite the provided bag, I never seem to be able to fit the device and all the attachments back into it neatly. That aside, it’s an excellent product and I’m very happy with this upgrade.

I bought the Philips Lumea IPL 9900 Series BRP958/00, and honestly, it has been an absolute nightmare. I’m a man, and from the very first use, it caused severe irritation, red marks, and burning sensations on my back and legs. I followed the instructions exactly, thinking I was being careful, but even then my skin ended up itchy, inflamed, and extremely uncomfortable for days.

The “SenseIQ” technology, which is supposed to automatically adjust the intensity for different areas, does not work reliably at all. Some areas felt like the device was overheating, while others felt inconsistent and unpredictable. It was painful to use, and I constantly worried I was doing permanent damage to my skin.

After using it, I noticed red blotches, small burns, and persistent itching that lasted much longer than it should have. Applying soothing creams only helped a little, and I had to avoid scratching constantly. My back and legs looked worse than before I even started using the device.

The device feels overhyped and unsafe, especially for men’s skin, which seems to react differently. I can’t stress enough: this is not a gentle, reliable IPL device. It left me in pain and with irritated skin instead of anything remotely pleasant or convenient.

If you’re thinking about buying the Philips Lumea IPL 9900, please reconsider. It’s expensive, risky, and leaves your skin with burns and irritation. There are much safer ways to care for your skin. Don’t make the same mistake I did—stay away from this product.

I brought this product after reading the reviews, I wasn’t really expecting the results to be that good. How wrong could I be …. I have done my initial 4 treatment and a few top ups and the results are amazing I had a dark moustache and chin hair andl now it’s reduced dramatically the hairs that are coming back are less frequent and the thickness of the hair is so much finer I do still have some thicker ones that come through but I think that’s because I have missed a few spots , this is expected when you are new to a product and your still getting use to using it .i would recommend this product as a life saver after years of unwanted upper lip and chin hair the results are amazing and can only get better with practice , I have also done my bikini line and under arms and the results are just as good I have been thinking about buying this product for over a year and I am so glad that I did . I couldn’t imagine life without it now.There is no way I would ever go back to the dreadful razor.!!!

Worst experience. It gave bad burns on the first use. I bought AI feature IPL to use it for my skin tone but AI is rubbish that burnt me so bad. Scared to use now.

I love it would recommend to anyone who has brown skin but doesn't work on white or orange hair so plz try it out I would 1000000% recommend very good has no hair up to 12 months

I knew too late that woman that take immunosuppressant can't use the IPL so I had to resell my machine to someone else. It's pretty annoying knowing that it is pretty expensive but you are aware of that only when you have access to the notice. I would have love to try it tho, so I'm crossing my fingers for the company to find a way for us to have access to it.

More than 50% of the Hair on the Body Disappered After Only 4 Sessions, I am very pleased

Absolutely amazing - I wish I had got it sooner! I’m fair skin and dark hair so it works especially well for me but I am genuinely so impressed with the outcome. I don’t know how long it will last for but my hair used to come through after shaving the next day so to be able to have weeks (so far) of smooth skin with zero pain and zero rashes is a massive win.

Easy to use and effective. Used only twice and already see the result.
