Sony FE 100-400mm F5-6-8 OSS lens

This lens is quite simply fantastic, it's lightweight, compact and very manageable, the focus is quick, superbly quiet and very smooth in operation, I am still getting to grips with all of its features but it's very very impressive so far.. mainly used for wildlife but also sports..

This is a great lens for shooting wildlife when you don't have the luxury or motivation to carry around your full sized telephoto, whether that's the 200-600 or 600 f/4, sometimes they're just too heavy. This lens hits the perfect balance of weight and ergonomics without sacrificing too much image quality. In fact the IQ is surprisingly good despite first impressions. AF is very snappy and accurate. Stabilisation is great for handheld at 400mm. Bokeh leaves a little to be desired by that's to be expected at f/8. Chromatic Aberration actually surprised me with how well it's handled. Very happy with this lens and will be a fantastic travel wildlife lens for trips that aren't specifically about wildlife
