Good idea until you upgrade the dock
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is good for Gen8 and below version of the Carbon X1 devices. If you upgrade to new docks, the USBC type 4 cable will do everything needed.
Backwards compatible

This cord works on the Thunderbolt 4 and Thunderbolt 3 docking stations. It works fantastic and is exactly what I was looking for. The price is reasonable and cheaper than getting the v3 cord. Highly recommend

It was both cheaper and more available than the specified replacement Thunderbolt 3 split cable (Part Number: 5C10V25713) that my dock came with.
