What data is processed about me and where does it come from?

We only process personal data that is necessary for each specific purpose. Therefore, how you use our services and what you do within them determines which personal data we process. Below, we have categorized the personal data we process based on the context of use.Data collected when creating a customer account (core customer data):

We collect the following information from every customer who creates an account for our service.

  • Name
  • Phone number
  • Email address
    • Customers can choose to use a third-party authentication service, in which case the email address may be the one used for Google, Facebook, or Microsoft login. In such cases, we also process a token to identify the user against their chosen login platform.

Data collected when placing an order:

We collect the following information on a case-by-case basis when a customer places an order in our online store.

  • Delivery address
  • Identification data other than core data:
    • Personal identity code for customer identification when entering into a credit agreement.
    • Passport details or similar information required by Customs when ordering tax-free products or services from outside Finland.
  • Payment information, including credit agreements and other credit-related data when paying on credit, as well as other billing information such as transaction IDs used to link payments to orders.
  • Order information: Customer account ID (customer number), delivery address ID, billing address ID, ordered products and their pricing, and order date.
  • Delivery information: Selected delivery method and, where applicable, the delivery address.
  • With the customer's consent, location data for estimating delivery times or displaying the nearest pickup point.
  • Age verification for age-restricted (18+) products: Customers are asked for their date of birth when ordering age-restricted products.

Data collected during other use of the Verkkokauppa.com website:

  • Data collected via cookies. For more information on cookies, see "Are cookies used on the store's website and what are they?" and the cookie settings at the bottom of the page.
    • Online store usage and browsing data, and device identification data.
    • Product recommendations and other data and identifiers used for targeted content.
    • Diagnostic data derived from service usage.
  • Product reviews: Email address, nickname, and review content.
  • Logs derived from service usage.

Processing personal data as described in this privacy policy may be a prerequisite for entering into and fulfilling an agreement between the customer and Verkkokauppa.com. Except for browsing products and leaving reviews, our online store platform's functionalities cannot be used without creating a user account—meaning Verkkokauppa.com must process the data defined as core customer data. Furthermore, if you place an order, you must provide certain personal data in addition to core customer data so that we can process and deliver your order. If you do not provide the requested personal data in these contexts, we will be unable to provide the requested service, from account creation to order fulfillment.

The primary source of data is the customer. In addition, we may receive information from our partners, such as credit service providers. We will notify you of any personal data received from third parties in accordance with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) during our first contact or within one month of receiving the data. For B2B sales, we may collect public information about companies and their decision-makers from third parties, such as the Business Information System (YTJ) maintained by the Finnish Patent and Registration Office, or other similar services.
