Over 200,000 express deliveries – nearly one in four Verkkokauppa.com customers now chooses fast delivery.
Press release, 15 October 2025
Verkkokauppa.com continues to drive retail online, transforming how electronics are bought by focusing on fast deliveries. Company data shows that nearly one in four Finns now chooses express delivery when shopping online.
The number of express deliveries—orders delivered on the same day—at Verkkokauppa.com has grown by 60% compared to last year, now accounting for nearly half of all home deliveries. The popularity of ultra-fast one-hour deliveries has exceeded expectations, with demand alone growing by over 30% in the same period.
In total, more than 200,000 orders have been delivered within an hour. The fastest delivery, clocked at just 12 minutes, was completed in Helsinki last year.
“In Helsinki, one-hour deliveries have skyrocketed, even surpassing traditional in-store pickup, which Finns have long considered a reliable and flexible way to shop. While click-and-collect has been a firm favorite for years, customer behavior is shifting—more and more people are choosing one-hour delivery. This trend offers a glimpse into the future of urban living: speed and convenience have become the new currency of commerce,” says Panu Porkka, CEO of Verkkokauppa.com.
To prepare for the growing demand for express deliveries, Verkkokauppa.com has invested in pickup lockers for courier partners and warehouse and packaging automation to speed up order processing.
In the Helsinki metropolitan area, customers can choose from six different express delivery methods, some of which also include installation services.
Over 30,000 products available with fast delivery
In 2025, the average time for one-hour deliveries has been 46 minutes from the moment of order to delivery. According to Verkkokauppa.com, the most popular items for express delivery include computer peripherals, small domestic appliances, phones, networking equipment, components, and various chargers and cables.
Currently, fast deliveries cover Finland's largest cities, reaching over 40% of the population. The goal is to expand next-day deliveries to reach up to 90% of Finns.
As demand for express delivery grows, Verkkokauppa.com is also developing solutions to minimize its environmental impact.
"Express deliveries are also carried out using electric vehicles, and in Helsinki, 'green deliveries' already account for 23% of all one-hour deliveries. The average carbon footprint of a one-hour delivery is 2.3 kg CO2 per package, and for scheduled one-hour deliveries, emissions are even lower. These figures are equivalent to a 10-kilometer trip in a petrol-powered car, making express delivery often a more sensible choice than using a private car, even from a climate perspective,” adds Verkkokauppa.com Sales Director Pekka Litmanen.
