Apple, Sony PlayStation, and Fiskars – Verkkokauppa.com reveals Finland's favorite brands and the trends of the year.

Verkkokauppa.com asked nearly 4,000 Finns* to name the top products and brands of 2023.
The Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra flagship was named Product of the Year, while the Anu Saukko plushie took the titles for most surprising and weirdest product. Apple maintained its popularity, winning in the phone, computer, and watch categories.
Now in its third year, the Verkkokauppa.com Awards survey shows that Finnish households trust established brands. Miele remains the Home Appliance Brand of the Year, while Bosch reclaimed the top spot in small appliances, overtaking Dyson.
Smart plugs and energy meters remain popular with cost-conscious consumers. Finnish trust in German brand Bosch was evident again, as the brand's air source heat pump was voted the most energy-efficient product with 1,407 votes.
Fiskars, Finland's oldest operating company, edged out Genelec by just 0.2 percentage points to be named Domestic Brand of the Year for the first time. The Dreame L20 Ultra robot vacuum, featuring AI-powered cleaning and an auto-clean function, was voted the top everyday problem solver.
The race between Samsung and Apple remains tight – the TV of the Year has "everything you could want from a television."
Finns are heavy mobile users, and the importance of smartphones was clear in the Product of the Year vote: the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra took first place, followed by the Apple iPhone 15 Pro Max.
"Apple and Samsung were within 0.3 percentage points of each other, together accounting for nearly half of all votes. While Samsung won the overall product vote, Apple's flagship won the Phone of the Year category. This is likely because Android fans had several excellent options to choose from, whereas iPhone fans had only one. The OnePlus Open reaching third place was also a remarkable achievement, considering it only launched in early November," says Juha Orava, Product Manager for Phones at Verkkokauppa.com.Juha Orava.
Apple also performed well in the computer and watch categories. Lenovo and Asus took second and third place in computers, while LG secured a decisive victory in televisions.

This year's biggest surprise came from the toy category.
The Shit Happens party game was named Toy of the Year, while the LEGO Tranquil Garden won Most Beautiful Product with a quarter of the votes. From ten nominees, the Lord of the Rings Rivendell set was voted the most interesting

Syksyn aikana otsikoihin noussut Squishmallows-pehmo Anu Saukko nautti odotetusti suosiosta myös Verkkis Awardseissa. Pehmolelu kruunattiin vuoden yllätysnousijaksi sekä vuoden oudoimmaksi tuotteeksi.
"Kukaan ei varmasti vuoden alussa odottanut ostavansa pehmeän pörröistä Anu Saukko -pehmolelua. Nimestään huolimatta Anu on todella suloinen ja halittava pehmo, jonka syksyn aikana keräämä mediasuosio yllätti kaikki odotukset. Outous tuleekin tässä kohtaa tuotteen oivasta nimeämisestä, joka osui ja upposi juuri tänne pohjolan porukan huumorihermoon", Essi virnistää.
Vuosi 2023 oli täynnä yllätyksiä myös pelaajien näkökulmasta, eivätkä vuoden monet huippujulkaisut tehneet parhaan pelin nimeämisestä helppoa. Verkkis Awards -kyselyn perusteella suomalaisia viihdyttivät kuitenkin tänä vuonna parhaiten Super Mario Bros. Wonder, Hogwarts Legacy sekä The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.
Koko kyselyn ääniharavaksi nousi 90-luvulta asti kansalaisia viihdyttänyt Sony PlayStation, joka säilytti asemansa viihde-elektroniikan kiistattomana kuninkaana kahmien 41,4 % annetuista äänistä. Sonyn menestys jatkui myös kuulokkeiden saralla, kun kategorian voittoon kipusi brändin WF-1000XM5 -nappikuulokkeet.
Verkkis Awards 2023
Suomen suurin verkkokauppa, Verkkokauppa.com kartoitti suomalaisten luotetuimmat tuotteet ja brändit nyt kolmatta vuotta peräkkäin.
