Verkkokauppa.com donates over 100 washing machines to charity

Known for its extensive range of home appliances, Verkkokauppa.com decided to pay it forward by donating a total of 104 washing machines to low-income families. Families in need were identified in collaboration with the charity Hope ry, and Verkkokauppa.com's long-term partner Posti is handling the deliveries. The first shipments were sent out last week, and the remaining machines will be delivered by the end of October.

This major charity initiative is driven by Verkkokauppa.com's commitment to giving functional products a new life where the need is greatest.

"These washing machines were former display models from our stores. We usually sell individual display units in our Outlet, but since such a large number became available at once, we saw an opportunity to pay it forward. We have worked with Hope ry for several years, so continuing our collaboration was a natural choice. Whether a product is donated or sold, it is vital to us that it serves a real purpose and is built to last," says Verkkokauppa.com’s Sustainability ManagerJohanna Stenbäck.

New homes for the donated washing machines were found in the Tampere, Turku, and Oulu regions through the efforts of volunteers and Hope’s three local branches.

"For the families we support, saving money in a difficult economic climate is challenging to say the least, and a major purchase like a washing machine is nearly impossible for many low-income households. Some families had already mentioned missing or broken machines in previous requests for help, so Verkkokauppa.com’s donation was much needed. With Posti joining in to provide free delivery, we were truly able to meet the families' urgent needs," says Hope ry’s Operations ManagerNora Nederström.

Posti is handling the deliveries through its standard distribution process as carbon-neutral shipments.

"Delivering these washing machines alongside Verkkokauppa.com continues our ongoing work to support low-income individuals and families. It is rewarding to ensure these donations reach the families who need them. This initiative is also part of our long-term partnership with Hope," says Posti’s Sustainability ManagerEmilia Gädda.
