Verkkokauppa.com gears up for summer – will inflatable hot tubs be this season's backyard hit?

Press release, April 16, 2020

Verkkokauppa.com is launching an extensive range of yard and garden products this week. The selection includes remote-controlled inflatable hot tubs, robotic lawnmowers quieter than a vacuum cleaner, solar power systems, and cordless chainsaws. Online shopping has seen a significant surge in popularity over recent weeks.

"The upcoming summer will be unique in many ways—many people are expected to spend a lot of time at home or at their summer cottages. Investing in home comfort has been a long-standing trend that has only intensified this spring. With this in mind, we have selected the most exciting new garden products from around the world and are now making them available to Finnish consumers," says Verkkokauppa.com's Commercial Director Vesa Järveläinen.

"It will be particularly interesting to see how people receive our inflatable hot tubs and spas. They pack down small for storage, are easy to set up, and can be effortlessly moved from home to the cottage or a friend's place. Many models are heated and designed for year-round use, so you can enjoy them even in freezing temperatures. With Wi-Fi, some models even allow you to control the heating remotely," says Product Manager Juha Harju says.

The new arrivals also include a series of cordless garden machinery. According to Verkkokauppa.com, advanced battery technology can already replace traditional internal combustion engines. Quiet and lightweight, cordless tools offer superior user comfort—for instance, cordless lawnmowers are exceptionally quiet.

"I believe we'll see the rise of cordless garden machinery in Finland this summer, and soon most garden tools here will be low-emission and cordless. This has already happened in countries like Germany. In the future, you could even charge your garden tools using your own solar power system," Järveläinen explains.

Online shopping is becoming the new norm

Verkkokauppa.com's four physical stores remain open, but shopping online is the best way to avoid unnecessary contact. Commercial Director Vesa Järveläinen believes that online shopping will become a permanent habit for many after the pandemic.

"Traffic to Verkkokauppa.com's online store has seen strong growth throughout the spring. We've seen a particular surge in same-day home deliveries in the Helsinki metropolitan area, where volumes have quadrupled. Shopping online is easy and convenient, and ordering products or services directly to your home or cottage is now part of everyday life. I can't think of an easier way to free up more leisure time," says Järveläinen.
