    Opi ja innostu uudesta

Toimii hyvin ja vastasi kaikin puolin odotuksia. Käytön opettelu vie vähän aikaa ja tuntuu vaativan kirjautumisia sinne ja tänne. Aikamoinen loikka vanhasta perustelevisiosta tähän päivään. En ehkä suosittelisi perustelevisiota tarvitsevalle henkilölle, jolla ei enää itsenäinen uuden oppiminen ole helppoa. Pelkkä YLE tv avaaminen vaatii jo pari oikeanlaista näpäytystä kaukosäätimesta. Olisko joku asetus olemassa jossa kaukosäätimen avaus aukaisisi heti normaalin TV lähetyksen ilman erillisiä valintoja?

    Fantastic Television

We've had this TV almost two weeks and wow such a difference. It's a sharp crystal clear picture, the details it has are fascinating, any woodland or similar is an added bonus. We got a £100 off the cost which made this buy even more fantastic. We recommended this model television, purchase before they run out of stock. Can't wait to watch The Christmas Chronicles 3 on this television. Thank you Sony....

A Fantastic Addition to the Sony Family

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Sony has always been our first choice for TV and audio products and the Bravia 5 continues to reinforce our view by providing the value, performance, and expertise that we’ve come to expect from them.

Firstly, the packaging is about as simple as it possibly can be with the unpacking instructions printed on the box. Once opened, the box front tears down to allow you to take the television out carefully avoiding damage. The screen is covered by a cardboard sheet for added protection. You can then see how thin the TV is. About 60mm maximum and generally flat on the back without any of the bulges you used to get. It is basically a big thin screen. All you need. Pop on the cleanly designed legs, either as is or adjusted higher to accommodate a soundbar, and you’re almost ready to go.

Don’t get too hung up about instructions, the TV will tell you what you need to know. You get two controllers, put the batteries in and you’re ready. Before you start the set up process you can scan the registration card with your phone and register the new TV while, at the same time, it gives you access to download the Sony help guide for the product. You don’t need it for set-up but you might find it useful to refer to later.

When you first switch the TV on it begins a process that allows you to configure it to your individual requirements. It will ask and prompt you as you go along. For example, choose from Google, Alexa or just TV. Google asks you to connect to your router which you can choose from the screen prompts. You’ll need to have the router password to hand. Then agree to terms and select which Sony features you’d like. I found it easiest just to select all or most of them. Why not. You can then choose a security pin and select items to scan for programmes such as digital television, satellite television, online connection, Sony Pictures Core and other stuff that you might want.

Now onto the most important part and main function of a television, the screen itself, which uses the fantastic Mini LED’s. I have always loved Sony for the quality of their picture. They are my number one choice for clarity and sharpness and the colours are so true to life. The Bravia 5 using the Mini LED format is no exception. It produces a wonderful clear crisp picture with its colours, shades, light and dark all contributing to a first-class presentation. As always there are many picture mode options but, for me, the ‘default’ is my main choice although I have found the ‘vivid’ option can really enhance some films, especially cartoon output. Obviously, it is dependent upon the quality of transmission or function that is being output but the Bravia 5 copes well in all departments from standard television transmission to 4K Ultra HDR. In a word, Beezer. I mustn’t forget to mention that the Bravia 5 is also well equipped for gaming use and its refresh rate of 120Hz is a real plus.

The TV comes with two controllers. A normal looking one and one that does more or less the same thing but also has 6 specific buttons for Sony Pictures Core, Netflix, Disney+, prime video, Crunchyroll, YouTube plus Voice Control. I thought at first that it might be a bit of a hassle having two handsets, but I’ve warmed to the idea. You can select from the broadcasters on screen with either, but the specific controller is quite fun for that and it probably makes it easier for Sony to alter if someone changes their name or something.

The Bravia 5 has built in sound from its 2 Bass Reflex and 2 Tweeter speakers that enable the TV’s ‘sound-from-screen’ system to produce an excellent clear result which you can also adjust from the extensive sound settings to suit your own personal requirements. In a smallish room you wouldn’t need anything else. Alternatively, this great television also has all the capabilities and technology that you need to set up your own cinematic experience by using a separate AV receiver or sound bar.

Another clever function is that the Bravia 5 can also record your TV programmes if you provide a high-capacity memory stick or USB hard drive. You can have up to 130 timer settings (Who would need that?). This is a brilliant little extra for those who don’t want to miss a programme or haven’t got a set top box facility.

I mustn’t forget to mention a very important feature that the Bravia 5 provides, it has everything that you need for your PS5 and Xbox gaming. It’s 120hz refresh rate gives you a great detailed picture and capability that should suit the majority of gaming enthusiasts.

This Sony television also likes iPhones! Put your photos or videos on screen by using AirPlay Video, Action share or you can play music via AirPlay Audio or even mirror your mobile device onto screen. These are functions that I believe Sony TV’s didn’t like to do. They do now! These days this function is a must.

Lots of technical things nowadays come with a mass of functionality and people might feel that they should be doing more with it. The Bravia 5 is no exception but it makes it easy for you to set up the functions that you might want immediately and then, when it’s most convenient, you can learn what other things it can do and introduce them if or when you want to.

If this television is within your chosen budget and you’re struggling to decide which one to get, then look no further. I have found that the clever and fantastic Sony Bravia 5 provides all the features that I need and more. Love it!
