Great video and audio quality
The picture quality is absolutely stunning—bright, incredibly detailed, and with deep blacks that make every scene feel cinematic. Colors look natural yet vibrant, and motion is smooth whether you’re watching movies, sports, or gaming.
Paired with the Bravia Theatre 9, the experience goes to another level. The sound is rich, powerful, and immersive, with clear dialogue and room-filling surround effects that make you feel like you’re in a movie theater.
Sony XR90 65”
Absolutely fantastic TV. 4k content is visually stunning! The level of image detail, colour and clarity produced is extraordinary.
Outstanding Picture Quality
Excellent TV, the picture is crisp and bright and can easily be seen, even on a sunny day.
When hooked up to my PS5 this TV is first class. The HDR and contrast really of this TV really show every detail in the games.

Review of the Sony Bravia 9 65-inch
I recently purchased the Sony Bravia 9 (65″) and overall I’ve been very impressed with what I’m getting. Right from the unboxing the build felt premium — the slim bezel and modern stand blend nicely into the living room, and it looks and feels like a serious home-theatre investment.
Picture Quality: The picture quality is outstanding. Watching HDR content really shows off the mini-LED backlight’s power — bright highlights pop and contrast feels deep. The level of brightness means even in my (mention your room lighting) room this screen holds up rather than looking washed out. Colours are rich, detail is very good, and the upscaling from 4K/HD content is smooth. In dark theatre scenes I expected to see the usual LCD weakness (bleeding, haloing) but Sony’s local dimming seems to keep it well under control. That said, when viewing off-axis (i.e., from the side) the brightness drops and the picture loses some impact — which is a limitation of the panel type.
Smart TV & Features: The Google TV interface is slick and easy to navigate. I found setting it up straightforward, streaming apps load fast, voice search works well, and casting from my phone was effortless.
Gaming & Connectivity: As a gamer (mention your console/PC), I’m pleased with the 4K / 120Hz support, VRR and ALLM features — switching to Game mode feels seamless and the input lag appears very low. That said, one quibble is that the 65″ model has only 2 HDMI 2.1 ports — if you have several high-bandwidth devices (e.g., multiple consoles, PC, Blu-ray player), you may find yourself juggling or needing an HDMI switch.
Audio: The built-in sound is stronger than most TVs I’ve used. Dialogue comes through clearly, and the up-firing “beam” tweeters create a sense of space. However, if you watch a lot of cinematic movies at high volume, the bass doesn’t quite match what you’d get from a dedicated sound system — I eventually paired it with a soundbar for a more immersive feel.
What I Like:
• Truly bright screen, impressive HDR performance.
• Excellent picture contrast and minimal backlight bleeding for a large LCD.
• Great for gaming and movie watching.
• Premium look and smart platform. What Could Be Better:
• The high price means this is a serious purchase.
• Only 2 HDMI 2.1 ports on the 65″ model.
• Viewing angles aren’t as wide as some OLED models — if your room has many off-axis seats this may be noticeable.
• Lack of HDR10+ support (not a concern for all, but worth knowing).Verdict: If you’re looking for a high-end 65-inch TV that delivers cinema-level brightness, excellent HDR performance and strong gaming credentials, the Bravia 9 is very hard to beat. If you’re on a tighter budget or have very wide seating angles, you might find similar satisfaction in slightly less expensive models. For me, the purchase has lived up to (and in some ways exceeded) expectations — I’m very happy with it.
Great features
I bought this tv and it’s amazing . Looking to get sound bar with it hopefully
Overall a fine TV
I have had this TV for just over a week and am generally very happy with it.
Dolby Vision can be spectacular!
I have an occasional problem with the sound optical out not working and I have to reboot the television.
It does a fine job of displaying low bitrate content but local dimming has to be of or it negatively impacts the greyscske.
Good picture and sound
Installed 2 weeks ago and I’m very pleased with it.
Picture quality much better than my previous 8 year old Sony 75” and sounds good from the built-in speakers, although I use my existing sound bar system.
Another perfect tv from Sony.
Bought it six months ago still very happy with my purchase.Deep blacks, excellent upscale, realistic colours. Good sound even without sound are.
Brilliant screen, great sound
I upgraded from a Bravia AF8 OLED (2017) because I found the screen rather dim while watching Sky Sports in 10 bit UHD HDR. There are no such problems with the Bravia 9. The picture is bright and sharp-so I'm really pleased. The sound is great too.
Smashing TV
Always had Sony TV. The 45 inch that this replaced is over 25 years old and is still working. However, the Bravia 9 is so advanced and the colour is so vibrant and natural, it makes watching TV a joy. Still learning how to make the best of it. The Sony Sound Bar is great. It is on par to the BOSE sound bar it replaced.
Very Good But Not Great
It's been about a month now of using the Sony Bravia 9, 65inch.
My two movie recommendations to showcase what the TV can do are 'Ben-Hur' 1959 & 'Tron Legacy'. 4K HDR 10 bit versions.
Super, super picture quality, especially in HDR content consumption. Get it out of your head that this is an 'OLED Killer', different technologies for different purposes. I am a big fan of HDR pop and that matters to me more than the 'deep inky blacks' of OLED.
The Bravia 9 is not a slouch in that department at all, the contrast is fantastic, the purists might see some slight grey letter box bars from time to time.
The TV has many picture settings to help you fine tune the image which is great. The out of the box calibration is very good to my eye but its advanced features allows for professional calibration if you wish.
The four stars comes from the EIZO Monitor Test. The Uniformity of the panel could be better, especially for the price. There is Dirty Screen Effect on the pictures attached, I haven't noticed it distracting me during viewing, however I'm concerned about the future. Very similar picture with black uniformity with noticeable hotspots which can be reduced by lowering 'Auto local dimming' & 'Peak luminance'. I didn't buy a product like this to keep it tame.
I use the TV plugged to my computer's RX 7900XTX GPU through HDMI. Beware of minor Windows HDR artifacts. I experienced visual artifacts whilst streaming HDR content on Mozilla Firefox. I'm using Windows 11 64bit and I did update the TV firmware manually to software version: 112.631.085.1EUA.
The TV though 'Smart' allows you to set it up as a basic TV without connection to the web. It comes with a basic remote and a smart remote, the UK version that is.
More than two HDMI 2.1 ports should be standard, for the price.
