Nice looking piece of kit but poor tape deck
This is a great looking piece of portable kit and sounds great with plenty of volume and bass. The CD player will play rewritable discs and recordable discs and is very easy to use. The DAB+ radio is exceptional and is very sensitive with reception and will easily receive radio stations outside your area. FM reception is reasonably acceptable but requires a stronger signal as sensitivity is much weaker than the DAB platform. As for the cassette deck, I did notice that this part of the unit seemed much LESS robust and I was correct because after just playing three tapes the fast forward button completely jammed and got stuck. The tape deck lets this unit down badly. If this unit was DAB and CD only, then I would be giving this a 10 star review, but the weak points are it's FM reception and tape deck.
Quality product
I am very pleased with the Philips CD-Soundmachine but I do find that I sometimes cannot get the right tone for tracks on the radio using the selection available. I've assumed that it's down to the recording technology at the time. I will keep experimenting with this in combination with the volume.

Hyvä laite ja kaikki toimii verattuna kahteen palauttamaani Aiwa-merkkiseen boomboxiin.

IT'S A CHRISTMAS GIFT.... IT FULLY FUNCTIONAL, WELL DONE!!!!
Many features but not all good.
The radio works well and the CD player is okay,if a little noisy. However I bought this machine partly to play my old cassette tapes but the tape player quickly developed a fault, playing well when started or restarting but only for a few seconds, then the sound quality deteriorates severely.Very disappointed and now wish I hadn't spent so much on what was an overpriced item.
Great sound
Since I have had my Cd Soundmachine I have never been able to get it to play any USB's even though my other sound systems do. Also I have noticed that It will only play Cd's that have not been remastered, so I can only play half my Beatles collection on the Philips sound machine, even though they play perfectly well on my other 2 music systems.
An all round hit!
I bought this for my daughter who is registered blind and she has told me it's excellent. She has found her way around it and can also use the remote. Sound quality good. Her last Philips player lasted nearly 20 years so hopefully this will also do well.
Good sound, feels cheap chewed tapes day one.
Bought a new one last month, sound quality was good but the unit felt cheap and flimsy, with horrible clunky buttons. The biggest disappointment was you could not control the tape deck with the remote control - what’s the point in having a remote if you can’t control an entire mode? Secondly I was unable to connect to my Bluetooth speakers.
However the unit I bought saved it’s best trick until last - on day one after an hour of use it decided to chew 2 cherished cassette tapes.
I took the unit back for a full refund the very next day.
Excellent value for money.
The product gave me exactly what I was looking for.
Not as good as the one I got 3 years ago
The old one I got had track and timing for the CD you put but this new after 3 years has nothing like that as it go'es straight to play with no time's showing,If had know this Is would not have brotherd buying this one
Best bit of kit
Great sound for the money, it does everything .
Brilliant buy
Not worth the money.
So I bought this in April 2020, it is now October 2021 and it has developed a fault. The fault is that it scratches all my discs till they are unreadable with a round circle. I have had to not only buy a new stereo but new music. Five damaged discs.
Great sound
I am partly deaf but the sound is very clear even when turned up loud
Lovely sound quality
After the disappointment and inconvenience of having to return the first Soundmachine, I'm relieved that all 3 functions on this second one work fine. You get a wonderful, resonant sound quality with its extra bass. Volume-wise, it goes loud enough if you want an indoor party, for example (let the neighbours know first!). The whole thing is really very lightweight and I wondered if that meant flimsy but that may just be the way all such systems are made now. Hopefully it's robust enough. Lightweight = easily portable, I guess.

Excellent sound and features
Looking around for an all singing all dancing player the Philips CD Soundmachine caught my eye. It has so many features that make it both contemporary with DAB and Bluetooth and retro with CD and Cassette capabilities. With such a wide variety of devices and media that can utilise the Soundmachine, what's not to like?
I was looking for a player for our church that would have enough 'oomph' for everyone to hear the Remembrance salute from the Cenotaph on the radio and to play quiet background music while we open for individual prayer on Sundays. The quality of the sound this machine produces and volume it can achieve both all the boxes.
I liked it so much that I bought a second one to use at home to replace our existing player!
A great all rounder
A great radio a great cd player a great tape player
product review - Boombox
I just purchased this product it is a birthday gift from my wife it seems ok does mostly what it says a lot of what you would expect from a Philips product the dab radio and cd are great but the old tape deck isnt too clever as you cant really get cassettes in the Uk to allow you you to play them back but the sound is ok and another down side is i had to down load a user manual as there wasn't a full english manual if this product is being sold throughout europe then there should be user manuals in the appropriate language even the wor4ding on the front of the box was minimal english
Looks great
This is a good looking system with many all in one features. It's nice sounding though could be improved as older models from twenty odd years ago are better. It's overpriced in reality as it's very light (good in a way for people who like a lightweight product) it's got too much plastic made everything due to obviously cheaper components to use theses days though it's better executed and good looking and not as bad as much cheaper non branded ones. . The blue display section looks nice except you can't read it unless you look at it closely at an angle. This is obvious flaw I imagine Philips fixing in any future version of this. The remote could do with not being a cheap experience The dab radio has poor reception even though other dab players I have is excellent. Note you can't record from cassette. It's only for playing. All in all while I put lots of downfalls I still think it's a great little system and because I'm over 50 I know what systems used to be like so I will be more picky than someone much younger. The main thing to love is it's look and good sound overall when using its sound settings and it's all in one various sound sources.
