    A Fine Robust Phone

Having been a customer of Sony for 20+ years (Since Sony Ericsson era) I have steadfastly stuck with the brand.

All phone manufacturers have comically increased phone prices. Sony has too. However, I do not mind paying for a Sony as I have noted (alongside the folks who fix phones) that the workmanship, chip quality and robustness of Sony Xperia phones is top notch.

If the London Gadget Grabbers don't set their sites on my pocket, I shall endeavour to get four years' of service from this phone which will work out at £300 per year.

    I can live with that.

Otherwise, all is great with this phone; screen, processor, sound and photo quality keep me in Sony's corner. I hope Sony will maintain producing phones - they are very good at it.

Mixed experience with Sony Xperia 1 vi

    Certainly a nice product:

    Feels very durable,

    Great Camera,

    Good screen/Battery life,

Nice to still see a headphone jack!

however I have had some issues as follows:

1.When I first got the phone I had to install close to 10 updates consequtivly which seemed unnecessary, surly could have been done all at once rather than manually for each individual update?

    1. After a week of ownership the phone has said that there is debris or liquid in the USBC port which there shouldn't be at least not any significant amount after a week of ownership, didn't have any issues with my previous phone a Samsung I had for 4.5 years on regards to the USBC port.

Another thing I suspect with this is that occasionally my phone seems to charge slower than usual because of this Liquid and debris in USBC port notification.

    1. finger print scanner I have found to be slightly inconsistent even after adding my finger print a second time. Not bad as stated, just failing to read it occasionally.

Great, unique phone - be different!

Great phone, superb sound - playing hi res audio files. Very good battery life. Love that can adjust white balance and colour of screen and that it is much brighter than previous Xperias. Love that still has microsd - so can hold music etc and has head phone jack still. Also really like the macro lens and general natural photographs. Only gripe is at first I was unsure about screen resolution (I was coming from 5k xperia pro-i). I am also unsure of length and speed of updates that will be available

    Mobile sensitivity good, camera excellent

This is an upgrade from my Sony 1 iii, the screen resolution is very good in all lighting conditions, and battery life excellent (but I don't stream film or music) getting 5 days use as a mobile 3hrs talk time a day minimum, blue tooth 12hrs a day and camera 1 hour per day. Camera is absolutely brilliant in all conditions and the better processor makes light work of everything I ask of it.

3rd Sony and keeps getting bettter

Looking to replace my Sony 5II and after comparing others on the market decided to keep with Sony. Had it 2 weeks now and exceeds my expectations. The connections are really good and the phone camera is outstanding. I have been very pleasantly surprised by the battery life and the decision to go to HD on the display to increase the battery life. Sound quality is excellent.

    Great phone with some compromises

Recently bought this phone and very impressed with it, despite issues setting up the e-sim. Compared with my previous 1 iv, the display is bigger overall and I don't notice much difference against the previous 4k resolution. The big change (and reason for swapping) is the battery life. Now I get over 2 days light use, which is perfect. The camera app is revamped (I miss the pro apps though!) and the tele macro is great although I can't seem to find pro features in the 48mp mode. The biggest drawback for me is that there is no longer the Sony Pictures Core app (and no longer any free films) so I can't watch the films I have purchased previously on my phone. I'm guessing due to the change in screen format. The colours, object tracking and limited use of processing make it the best phone for photos in my opinion. Much prefer it to other oversaturated/oversharp flagships. Audio is very high quality, as ever. Still expensive although classy product

Sony 1 VI - Top Phone

This was bought to replace a Sony phone I'd owned for a number of years. Great looking phone and really fast. The screen is brilliantly crisp and clear. The sound is exceptional. Photographs are especially good. Great colours and definition. Yes, it's expensive and looks quite big but you don't feel the size when you use it. Worth every penny. 10/10 from me.

    Love the phone so far

Received the phone last week. So far really fast processing speeds. Just getting used to the camera functions, but my experience so far is that it has met my expectations. Lots of fun trying the different settings. Looking forward to getting lots of use out of it. Sound on film streaming is excellent. So far so good.

Some Minor UI Issues But an Excellent Product

Very elegant handset with a good grip and premium feel. This extends to the parred back, very clean interface. Cameras are exceptional. Odd integration issue with Whatsapp in that if I select a contact in the phone list it gives the option to call, SMS, or video call, but not to send a whatsapp message. I have to open Whatsapp itself to do that. Overall performance is excellent as is battery life which appears to be two days instead of the one day from competitors and my previous handset. Friends have also commented on how elegant the handset is.

I have been following the Xperia models for a few years but not purchased as there had been negative comments about speaker volume. Speakers are fine on this handset although full volume is not as loud as I am used to when set to speaker as opposed to holding the handset to my ear or using headphones.

A pity that the body is only aluminium when competitors are opting for titanium and steel. It's also a shame that Sony have not offered a dual boot to Sailfish OS option to really set this product apart from the crowd.

Also Sony do not provide a weather widget, you have to download an app instead.

I have only been using it for 10 days but as with most manufacturers Sony appear to want a review early rather than when a product has really been used in anger for some time.

I understand and support the need to avoid wastage but to not at least provide the option to include a cable and charger is a little poor. Competitors include a cable if not charger as everyone is well aware that cables wear out with use. I read a review of the charger on the Sony website and the reply was that you can use your old charger or a third party charger. The documentation makes it clear that third party chargers are not supported and the product is not covered if damaged by a third party charger. So if this is the first time purchasing a Sony phone, you have to purchase the charger. I find this a little cynical.
