Only thing to be wary of is if you live in a new build they’re going to be hearing this thing 10 houses down, it shakes the house!

It’s sleek, and I really think this is one amazing subwoofer! It’s like being in a cinema! I have a nice 70” inch 4K tv and this is the perfect addition to make my setup complete! It’s got some weight behind it but that’s irrelevant when it comes to the quality of this item.

Upon unboxing the TAFW1 it’s apparent that this is a very nicely styled piece of audio equipment. The TAFW1 is minimal in appearance yet all the details are perfectly executed. It’s all black but the different materials and finishes set it apart from the plain black boxes you often see. The top bevelled edge is finished in black leather and the top surface is brushed metal. The vertical edges are rounded and on the sides of the unit are 2 circular brushed passive diaphragms which help disperse the sound around your room. They look very slick and purposeful too. On the bottom is a meaty looking 8 inch downward facing speaker. On the back of the unit is a control panel with knobs to control your Gain and Crossover, switches to control Source and Phase, an audio input socket and a wireless pairing button. The whole unit feels solid with a reassuring weight, well made with a high level of fit and finish. You’d be happy to have this subwoofer on display and it’s obvious why it’s won awards for it’s design.

Set-up is super easy, the instructions are simple to follow even if you’re not technically minded and you’ll be up and running in no time.

Most importantly, the sound…THE SOUND! This thing packs a punch! It’s not just brute force though. The sound is natural, with plenty of clarity and depth. You’ll feel the bass and it will provide real immersion into whatever you’re watching, playing or listening to. There’s enough detail that the bass won’t overwhelm the rest of the output. The sound is clean with no distortion and easily fills my large living room. I use my TAFW1 with an existing soundbar and it sounds awesome but now I’ve heard and felt how good the TAFW1 is I’d like to upgrade and get it’s stablemate products.

This Philips subwoofer is an easy way to level-up your home entertainment experience by a considerable amount. Feeling the sound with such clarity really adds a new dimension to your enjoyment. You’ll want to re-watch your favourite movies and re-play your favourite video games so you can experience them in a much more immersive way. I’ve been enjoying cinema nights in with the family and I’ve been enjoying surprising unsuspecting friends when they come to visit! Highly recommended.

Not going to lie, I did struggle to get it set up and for the phone App to work properly but the perseverance paid off.

I'm so baby happy with the sound and ease of use. I even just play music from my phone through the speaker.

I used this with a sound bar I already owned and the bass improvement from my other subwoofer was noticeably superior. The subwoofer was bigger than I expected but the finish on it is quality, love the inclusion of leather. This is not something I’d usually purchase due to the price point, and I can’t afford to add the soundbar from the same range, but I am glad I got to test this out. If you want amazing sound and have the budget, definitely think about buying the fidelio range.

It gives clear crisp bass and can be controlled as per need whether on low frequency or on high sound. For non-compatible TVs and system, you need RCA port. First you need to download Philips sound App and set up the system as per the instructions, then use it as per convenience. The app is compatible to smart phones and tablets so you can manage or control the sound without any hassle. This subwoofer pairs with Fidelio FB1 sound bar beautifully to give clear rich sound and it has different controls to choose from. It has dual passive radiator design to cover whole area equally to give overall sound quality. It comes with AC power cord and instruction booklet.
