Ive only had this lens a couple of days but it is nothing short of brilliant, the standard 70-200 reach is excellent but when you switch to the 70-200 macro setting it takes the camera into. new level.

In the past Ive owned the f2.8 version of this lens but really nothing is missing in the F4 as i normally shoot in f4.5 or higher. The quality is on par with the f2.8 and when you add in that it is smaller and lighter and has full time macro it is a no brainer which one to get.

My wife has used the lens as well and she is so impressed that we have ordered another one for her

I’m blown away with this lens, it’s so versatile and importantly an easy carry and so sharp.

I bought this to fill a gap in my camera bag. I’m astounded at how good it is with the 1.4 and 2x teleconverters both for macro and telephoto use. It’s small and light too.

If you’re looking for flexibility and high performance in 70mm to 400 mm range in a small light package this is for you. I’m very pleased.

This lens works great with both my sel20TC converter and my A7 mark4 and A6700 cameras!

Tämä objektiivi on pienikokoinen ja kevyt, ja siten helppo pitää mukana. Se toimii hyvin luonto-, maisema- ja urheilukuvaukseen, mutta on erinomainen myös makrokuvauksessa 1:2 kokoon saakka. Lisäksi se piirtää hyvin myös 1,4x telejatkeen kanssa, jonka olen myös hankkinut.

I love this lense. A fantastic all rounder with a great zoom that plugs the gap for when I don’t need to carry a larger lens around. The macro is also superb, easily the most comfortable macro I’ve used. *****

Cannot wait for the Dragonflies Butterflies and other small things.

Bought this lens in December 2024 and I just love it. Focus and zoom rings are so easy to turn. It's a dream.

A recent purchase after having sold my 70-200 G f2.8, and I must admit this has been an eye-opener for me, who is just a happy amateur photographer. The features, the weight the size has been brilliant; I can carry it in a small shoulder bag along with my A7cii when in the city, which saves me from carrying my larger full-frame cameras along with a couple of other lenses I would encourage anyone to give this lens a try

Light, fixed F4, better still, does Macro! one of my favourite lenses if outdoors and need the zoom benefit.

It’s such a disappointment that Sony will not provide Arca compatible lens feet, so you need to add a further budget allowance if you want to use a tripod head of any sort!

I have the existing Sony 70-200 F4 G lens that I love for landscape photography. I decided to buy the version 2 lens for the macro capability, the fact that it is compatible with the teleconvertors and for the fast autofocus with the linear focus motors. When used with my Sony A7RV with insect subjectcdetect I capture beautiful macro shots. With the teleconvertor or punch in 1.5 crop I get some nice birds in flight photos with good reach with this very light lens. The shorter length when packed away means I can leave it attached to my camera and it still fits in my messenger bag for compact light carry. It really is like having three lenses in one. I really love this versatile lens & the shots render beautifully straight out of camera & I don’t feel like they need very much editing! Highly recommend - you won’t be disappointed!

Great, beautiful lens, cannot fault it. But I'm a little bit disappointed with Sony for not being able to include any bag for the lens. It's okay, we can buy it, but when you spend premium money on premium lens, you expect it to be perfect...and to save on a simple bag? Sony, it's embarrassing!

I bought this lens to photograph butterflies in the wild. A normal telephoto lens does not work because the minimum focus distance is too large. The 70-200 f4 Macro ii seems to be just the thing.

I cannot say enough about this new lens, it has been my most used since I bought it. Super sharp along with being small & light it's the perfect zoom in my opinion. Don't worry about the f4 unless you must have a stop faster. The icing on the cake is the macro which can be 1 to 1 with the teleconverter. lastly crazy fast focusing makes this lens one of Sony's best, buy it now and you won't regret it.

I brought this lens at the camera show at a great price, i have not had time to take it out yet only in the garden, but i do like the feel of it being light and easy to use.

This lens is fantastic, it is light, compact, really well built, with great stabilisation and most importantly extremely sharp. I am really pleased at just how good this lens is, the small form factor is great for travel the macro capability is excellent and compatibility with the tele-converters just makes the lens a pleasure to use.

What a brilliant little lens! The macro focus (1/2 life size) sold me on this rather than the other Sony 70-200mm options). Wonderfully sharp and fast autofocus.

Replaced my first generation 70-200mm F4 lens with this lovely new one. Love the fact that it's lighter and also has a macro function. Very happy with it so far.

Punnitsin tämän ja 70-200 2.8 G II:n välillä, mutta päädyin lopulta tähän siitä syystä, että oma käyttöni on lähinnä videokuvausta, jossa koolla ja painolla on enemmän merkitystä, kuin maksimaalisella valovoimalla. Myös macrokuvaus on tässä erityisyytenä. Kuvanlaatu ei normikäytössä eroa Sonyn kalliimmasta versiosta, jolla olen myös kuvannut. Ammattifotarille 2.8. G-versiolla voi olla toki lisäarvoa.

Ainoa miinus tuli tämän yksilön kohdalla siitä, että tarkennusmoottori lopetti yhteistyön ensimmäisenä kuvauspäivänä. Sain linssin palautettua ja hankin kuitenkin tilalle samanlaisen, koska tämä on omaan käyttööni loistava.

autofocus works like lightning, the aperture is normal, the picture is super, I recommend it!
