Getting used to the menu and enjoying the user experience

I waited until Black Friday to purchase my Sony A6700. Although I’m just getting used to it, it is proving a great buy. As I better understand the camera and its many functions I am very confident that the results, both via stills and video, will be wonderful.

This thing is a beast. This is very good at all things.

Having had decades of iconic cameras from Leica M’s to Fujifilm X’s and Nikon F and D single digit pros, I decided I needed a quick focusing modern travel camera to do all the things I normally photograph plus our new fast moving puppy. Don’t believe the YouTube reviews that say they don’t get the same emotional feeling using this vs a Fujifilm or an M. I’ve owned both and it’s no different, except this one focusses quickly, unlike the X100F/V/6 and doesn’t breakdown costing the same as a small car when it’s out of warranty like the M. If you are looking for a photographic tool to capture great images in a small and solid form factor, give you the bonus of great interchangeable lenses and focus like pro, this is it. Get a SmallRig base plate and thumb rest to improve usability. Not that I give a monkeys, but I read it’s an amazing video camera as well.

OK. I wanted more. It seems I have to look up all the training on Youtube.

Purchased a month ago for bird photography and I was not disappointed this is a perfect birding camera with the Sony 200-600 lens, light weight, fast accurate auto focus, eye tracking is amazing a great 26 megapixel sensor giving that 1 and half crop factor.

It's been a long time since I was more interested in photography than just taking snaps, but I felt it was time to rekindle my passion. I spent a long time considering many different models, from many different manufacturers, and ultimately decided that the a6700 ticked all my boxes. Small and light without feeling cramped, and very nice to handle. Amazing number of customisable buttons. Excellent image quality for both photos and video. The availability of high quality, but reasonably priced lenses from Sony and third-party manufacturers. Superb in-body, image stabilisation. Great battery life. USB C charging. Comprehensive, but easy to learn menu system. Clear, high quality, fully articulated, touch screen. And, for me, the icing on the cake, an electronic viewfinder. While the screen on the a6700 is really good, after using smartphones for photos I found I really missed being able to use a viewfinder. However, I didn't want to go quite as large as a DSLR. I'd read a couple of reviews where they said the EVF wasn't as high a quality as other models. Maybe it isn't, but I think it's fab, and very, very clear. I use the EVF far more than the screen.

Sorry if this review sounds like a summary of the brochure, but it is exactly the type of camera I have wanted for a long time, and I am so happy with every aspect of it. I have absolutely no reservations in recommending the a6700 to anyone and everyone.

I have a Sony A7R V with G Master 2 Lenses and was looking for a more compact and lighter set up. The A7R V is normally set to 26MP so the Sony A6700 at 26MP seemed like the logical choice. I have had it a couple of weeks now and have not been disappointed. The sharpness and colour are sport on. I did a test against the A7R V both set to 26MP and shot with the same settings. It is hard to tell the difference between the images. The only area where the AR7 V scores much higher is the electronic viewfinder. I am a bit old school and prefer to compose my photographs through the viewfinder. The camera would be an excellent choice for anyone new to photography all the way up to a serious photographer. I see me using the A6700 as my carry everywhere camera and as a great backup to the A7R V. I would highly recommend this camera. Sony have done a great job.

An absolute beast of a camera undisputed King of a-psc’s. Puts a smile on my face every time I take it out of my camera bag. Thank you Sony!

A great camera for all my Sony lenses works great for all types of photography!

Very easy to use, pictures better than I could have hoped for

A purchase to replace my 6400. This camera is a definite upgrade. The main improvements are in video but overall an amazing purchase

I loved using my full-frame mirrorless SLR but hated the weight, especially during a long day on the hills, so I traded it in for the Sony a6700 and do not regret it. The a6700 is lighter, less bulky and, most importantly, the results are every bit as sharp. Colour rendition is excellent. The menus took a bit of getting used to but for my purposes this is the best digital camera I have owned.

I love camera. I got very good deal with summer discounts. Still bit unfamiliar to me but soon I am going to get use it.

I absolutely love my A6700. I’ve paired it with the Sony 70mm to 350mm Telephoto lens and I’ve grown from being an occasional photographer to a daily one. I take it everywhere because it’s easy to carry, it’s total quality and a pleasure to learn and develop my knowledge and skills. I have an A6000 too but the A6700 is next level and then some! Planning to add a prime lens and a shorter zoom. I hope you like my photos. Purely an amateur but a very satisfied one !
