No Protective Cap
Received about a month ago and quite satisfied with its performance overall. Just a bit disappointed with the thickness of the margins around the cutters - I can get right under my nose. Only giving 4 stars though! Why oh why don't Philips make it clearer which shavers come with protective caps and which don't. I think the general perception of potential buyers is that all the shavers include a protector. I would have ordered one along with the shaver but I don't intend to pay for one, plus the post & packing.
From wet to Dry
Only a 4 as I’ve only had the shaver for about a month so to early for a 5, so far the shaving experience has been very good, both dry and with shaving cream, not so good just wet not so smooth on the skin. So far cleaned the shaver on its cleaning pod under the tap and in warm soapy water, all good results. Used to be a wet shaver but due to an operation on my right hand decided to try electric shaving very good.
upgrade
excellent razor far better than my old Philips razor.
silverbirdArvostelu kirjoitettu sivustolla philips.comGood but should be better
Initial impressions were good, however, I feel that the shave has become more time consuming and i have to return to use my manual blade to smoothen the bits that this shaver missed.
I do not have a lot of hair growth so it shouldn’t be like this.
Jamal1976MArvostelu kirjoitettu sivustolla philips.comGreat improvement on my last Philishave
The saver is very good works well dry, gives a smooth shave, heavier than I expected and the battery doesn't last as long as i thought it ought to once the first bar has shown it doesn't take long before it needs recharging. Easy yo clean and the trimmer works well ,all together a great improvement on my old Philishave but that is 10 years old !!
No BeardMArvostelu kirjoitettu sivustolla philips.comQuiet and has an integrated trimmer
I like the shaver’s quietness and the integrated trimmer, but I expected a closer shave and less skin irritation, especially on the soft skin on my neck. My previous shaver, a 9000 series died on me after five years and I’m concerned that this ne will do the same.
Great shavers
Probably the best electric shave I have ever had.
Don't hesitate buy them.
Five stars- excellent shave; would recommend it to anyone who is looking for an electric razor!
Sustainability? You are joking, Philips
So - in the name of sustainability, Philips has removed the two pin charger used in bathrooms in homes and hotels throughout the world and which doesn’t require a plug, and replaced it with an out of date USB A charger which requires me to purchase a plug and adapter to use it at home or abroad. Another example of corporate greed masquerading as sustainability.
Shaver S5887/10 review
A good smooth shave, quiet and looks stylish.
In six weeks it has needed recharging just two times which is good.
On an earlier 5000 model the flip-out cover used to fall off when I lightly tapped the shaver to clean it. This model has made the joint more secure.
My wishlist:
I would prefer it to have a more depressed power button. When shaving I have repeatedly pressed the power off. The switch is in the middle of the grip area. Perhaps moved upwards, or more depressed, would be better for me.
Is there any reason why it could not have a USB-C socket for charging? Rather than the 2-prong shaver adaptor that does not fit anything else.
Very good shaver
Very good shaver this is my second one very good for me as a oldie
IT’S GOOD
I have been using Philips shavers for a very long time, from my first battery powered double headed shaver back in the 1970’s, which I used on backpacking trips, as it was a better option than cold water shaving in a river. Several models later, including the iconic black & white ‘AT&T/Williams’ model, my new 5000 series model seems to be even better at doing it job of giving a comfortable and close shave!!
My only other comment is that, as most shaver sockets are currently still ‘Two Pin’ types, it would have been nice, if it had come with a USB charging adapter, rather than having to purchase one in the aftermarket.
Kaz CArvostelu kirjoitettu sivustolla philips.comValue for the money
It is efficient, ut does the job perfectly fine and the battery lasts longer
Sky_gArvostelu kirjoitettu sivustolla philips.comUSB lataus
Satisfactory performance but not that great
Speed of cutters appear to be slower than expected. Cleaning brush does not work very well.
AlpacaMArvostelu kirjoitettu sivustolla philips.comProduct has great features, but poor info
I like the product. I don't like the sketchy and confusing product information available from the Philips customer interface. Why is the clean pod available in two different presentations with widely different prices, and only a cassette of fluid being the apparent difference between them? Are there two different types of clean pod for the 5000 series shavers? If so, why not state what the differences are? If not, why the very different price? It was equally difficult to get a feeling for the differences between the various model numbers, which sometimes seemed to reflect simply the configuration of extras included in the sales package (eg, cleaning brush, soft travel bag, etc). Was your goal to confuse the purchaser? Very little technical detail was included to back up descriptions. For example, how does the power regulation system actually work? What is it intended to do? Is it intended to make the battery charge last as long as possible? Or is it intended to enhance the action of the cutting blades? I'm glad I persisted through all this confusion to eventually end up with what I wanted: a series 5000 shaver, a hard travel case (which I bought separately), a cleaning pod (which I bought separately), and several cleaning fluid cassettes (which I bought separately). I now have as well, a surplus cloth bag for the shaver, because it was part of the model S5887 product for some reason. I am noticing the significant differences in shaving ease compared to my previous Philips model 6851 shaver. I like the idea of the clean pod system, which is very well contrived and works smoothly and simply, with no detectable residue left in the shaver once the fluid has drained back into the reservoir of the clean pod. I think the engineering department has been let down by the sales and marketing effort which seems lacklustre and poorly considered.
Great product all round
Because this is the best escort I have ever had and have tried others in the past
Jet777Arvostelu kirjoitettu sivustolla philips.comBetter than expected
This is now my ‘go to’ shaver. Previously wet shaving every other day with my old shaver but now only once a week. Very pleased. In fact surprised how good it is.
Washable heads
Always bought philips products good quality and reliable
SparticusMArvostelu kirjoitettu sivustolla philips.comExcellent shaver
Easy to use and very effecient.i am careful not to cut myself and this shaver does the job really well
Best current rotary shaver at a reasonable price.
I bought this to replace my 25 year old 8894 which was the best and most amazing shaver I have ever owned. It is in fact still working. The series 5000 comes very close in shaving terms but the 8894 is much easier to clean.
Phillips 5000 very close shave.
The Phillips 5000 series, wet and dry shaver gives a very close shave indeed,
probably 97% as close as a razor. It is very comfortable too hold and has a
sideburn trimmer built in, so no taking the head off to fit it.
I. Love it much more than my old one.
Philips series 5000
Not at all impressed with the quality of shave. Awful experience and so back to my original Philips shaver.
Impressed with this item
I’ve had a previous razor from Philip shaver years and just stuck with it but I purchased this one and I have to say very very impressed
