The fit is a major problem. I can't get a good seal to stay more than 5 seconds. Most of the time, I barely have noise cancelling because of the poor fit. I've tried various tips but no luck. After using Beats Fit Pro for years with joy, this is a major downgrade. I really regret having switched.

Good quality, good sound quality and comfortable to wear.

Used about 10 times since purchase and quality is good. It may be my ears, but I cannot find the right size to fit without coming loose, so cannot trust these for running. Will use for rowing, cycling and other CV only.

Frustratingly close to a great product. Bought these due to the sentiment around sound quality and fit. These seem good and I appreciate the inclusion of an (although, rather limited) equaliser. However, it's extremely disappointing to learn that touch function action (specifically, volume adjustment) isn't remappable. I was so surprised by this that at first I thought this must just be buried in a menu option I wasn't seeing. All of my earphones I've used previously in this pricepoint have had this. This may seem like a minor inconvenience until you account for the fact that the volume adjustment is mapped at multiple presses which is completely ridiculous as this must be one of the most commonly used functions! I pair my headphones with a sports watch to listen to Spotify whilst running and don't like to have my phone constantly in my hand day to day so will always use volume control on the earbud. After trying to use these earbuds for only a few hours it's just completely unfeasible so it's likely I'll be returning them. Disappointing considering how this could be fixed through firmware (clearly not limited by hardware as you can map the assistant feature) and given there have been a couple of product iterations now it's clear there's no interest in fixing this from Sony.

Forget Apple pods - these are proper Hi-Fi! Fully customisable, long battery life, Incredible sound, good fit, works with android perfectly. There's nothing not to like and cheaper than Airpods! So happy these are made and available - only downside is that they are made in China and not Japan. Come on Sony, take back your manufacturing!

Great sound. LDAC make it even better then mk3. Better noise cancelling. Smaller size make it more comfortable. Missing some bigger ear tips to sleep on side when pressing it in by pillow. This one hurts slightly. Still best on market.

I bought this as a replacement for my WF-1000XM4, which I had for 3 years and were excellent. Have to say disappointed with the XM5 as the sound quality is just not as good. Overall the sound feels much more closed in that the XM4 model, with a narrower sound stage.

RESPONSE TO SONY FOLLOW UP:

Hi, the issue is not with operation - I use the headphones paired with a Sony Xperia 1 iv phone, using LDAC the Sony highest quality connection solution for music. The review is valid - using the same system the sound is significantly inferior to the WF-1000XM4 model.

The product is awsome ! but some times the playing song automatically stops I don’t know why it is.

Excellent sound and fit. The controls are easy to learn and they have some good and useful features. Wish the app had abit more customisation for the presses. Great earbuds especially if you get them on sale.

I lost my Bose QC Ultra earbuds and decided to give Sony a try.

Unfortunately, the call quality is disappointing — people I speak to can hear their own voice echoing, or they can barely hear me at all. Calls also disconnect from the phone quite often, which is frustrating.

On the positive side, music quality is very good, which is what you’d expect from Sony.

Overall, great for listening to music, but poor call performance compared to Bose.

Good headphones, but noise cancelling is disappointing considering the claims. Using the app to adjust the EQ, I was able to get just the sound I like, nice and bright but with a decent amount of bass (mostly rock music). The selection of earbuds mean I was able to get them comfortable, and the ability to test how well they seal is very good.

My disappointment is the noise cancelling ability. Sony make very bold claims about it, but it’s just not that great - average at best. I accept buds will always struggle compared to over ear cans, but my Bose QC Ultra Quiet’s make a noisy room silent when wearing them, with no sound playing though them. These Sony earbuds in the same situation had me looking in the app to turn noise cancelling on, only to find it was already on. Quite disappointing.

Zero noise cancelling - extremely disappointed with this and would absolutely return this if I could (believe me I already tried)

I used a predecessor which worked great and unfortunately bought this new model in good faith smh

Reilun viikon olen testaillut ja ei nämä pysy millään mukana normitoiminnoissa (jos ei tee mitään, toimivat 🤗). Luisuvat korvista, en saa niitä asettumaan "lukkoon". Hipaisutoiminnot ovat hieman mielenkintoinen Suomen monipuolisissa säissä. Ihan esimerkkinä pipon käyttö: hipaisu ottaa kankaan kosketuksesta ja kävellessä ääniasetukset välppää koko ajan eri asetusten ja toimintojen välillä. Yritä siinä sitten käyttää 😅. Juostessa toivottomat pysymään mukana, toki oman jännitysaspektin saa kun pudonneita pimeässä etsii, eikä ole mahdollista auttaa pysyvyyttä pannan avulla. Tai sitten nämä on vialliset 🤔

There is no doubting the quality of these earbuds, for sound, build quality and features. So on that front they get 5 star.

However, the big problem I encountered with these earbuds is that they just didn't fit. I couldn't get any of the ear tips to seal correctly and in addition, the foam IMHO is too hard and not playable enough.

I found that my old CN700's gave a better feel when wearing.

I am really disappointed that these buds just don't work for me as in all other aspects they are pretty amazing.

These were a Christmas gift and I have found them to be excellent for all my needs for listening too music, the ANC is probably the best I’ve had for quite some time and the quality of the music separation is also excellent, the bud tips that came with the ear buds are in enough sizes to suit most people, all in all I am very, very impressed and happy with these buds from Sony

Very clear sound and comfortable fit in ears once they are settled

Haven’t had a chance to use them a lot yet, however the features, sound quality are excellent

Excellent noise cancelation. Sound quality very good.

The only thing that disappointed me was that when exercising with a cardio elliptical trainer, it feels like there's a bump in both headphones when you do the same movement, for example, you go up and down a little faster, only with noise cancellation turned off.

Very high tech earbuds, very impressed with ambient sound which allows you to hear surroundings. Great app aswell. Connect to multiple device, mic quality is good.

My earbuds don't fit as nicely as I would want, my right ear stays in most of the time with the earplug it came with and it feels slright, however, the earplug on the left ear feels uncomfortable, I have tried all the smaller earplugs and the larger one, they all have the same issue, they don't feel right. Just when I thought the earplug feels good is when I start to experience issues, either it is too close to earhole because it is too small or it doesn't fit as nicely where it can fall out.

I tried changing what the buttons do use the app but was unable but I haven't google how to do it. The options I pressed seem to not do it

Upgrade on the old headphones. Good quality sound and great features. App is quite good as well.
