Very nice on the whole. A few points to mention:

Be prepared to turn the sub down after calibration. I’ve been tweaking mine in half‑dB steps; I’m currently on –7 and it’s still way too strong. For those who don’t want to keep diving into the menus, calibrate with the sub’s volume at roughly the 11 o’clock position, then turn it down to taste once calibration is complete.

If you’re using a Harmony remote, use the STR‑DN1080 codeset rather than the AN1000 one; the latter has no discrete on/off commands. The former seems to be missing a Pure Direct command, though, so you’ll need to learn it from the AN1000’s remote.

Aside from that, very happy. Very natural soundstage — once the speakers are properly set up (use a tape measure to get the distances as accurate as possible), they vanish into the mix, and with your eyes shut you can’t tell where they are.

Music in Pure Direct really opens up — Strip away all the processing and the music just breathes.

TL;DR: Takes a bit of taming, but worth the effort. Superb amp.

10x parempi kuin vanha denon x2300, hyvät säätömahdollisuudet ja lisäksi equalizer bass/treble säädöt jokaiselle kaiuttimelle erikseen, jota ei aiemmassa denonissani ollut. Puhdas soundi. Jytisee nii hyvin, että naapuritki tykkää.

I am now on my second TA-AN1000. The first had major problems with A/V sync. Despite all equipment (TV, BluRay) being up-to-date Sony models, the automatic sync would not work on any input. Manual adjustment on the BluRay input was not acceptable as each type of disc (DVD, BluRay, 4k) needed a different value.

The replacement model still does not work in automatic sync mode, but at least I can now use the same manual delay for all disc media.

Sony were not very helpful. Apparently a feature that doesn't work is not seen as a fault... Luckily I bought the unit from Richer Sounds who did all they could to help.

I’m very happy with my purchase, I upgraded my home cinema with a Bravia 9, PS5 and this excellent surround amplifier. I have paired it with my Classic Kef cantata and C series speakers for an exceptional cinema surround sound system. This amplifier also integrates with the Bravia 9’s beam tweeters for excellent spatial centre sound performance. I highly recommend this amplifier for its high end clarity and smooth controlled bass response. My speakers have never sounded soo good. The built in networking and music apps like Spotify work seamlessly with iPhone Bravia and Spotify apps to give outstanding control and functionality.

I bought this to pair with my Sony Bravia II TV and PS5, it replaced an older Denon which didn't support eARC. The Sony was very easy to setup and the 360 degree sound is amazing through my Mission 5.1 speaker system. I also have a turntable, AppleTV box and CD player connected and the Sony provides a good musical stereo sound stage too with lots of options from pure direct to enhanced stereo. The PS5 and Sony Bravia switch seamlessly. The one improvement I would like to see is a single app to control both the TV and the receiver, they are separate at the moment and quite different.

I love the amp but could not select 6.1 which is my set up, so am restricted to 5.1.

Also I can’t change the names of the inputs, ie from game to ps5 on the front screen other than that it is amazing, and one other thing you have to point the remote control at the receiver to make it work.

Brought this to replace Sony STR-DN1080 AV Receiver. I am really disappointed that I cannot play my DAB Tuner through this AV Amplifier using coaxial optical input and reassigning SA-CD/CD ro read DAB Tuner. I have factory reset the amplifier twice and did output DAB Tuner for one day and didn't work the next day I tried it. The only I think to resolve this is to buy an optical to HDMI converter to get an output from my DAB Tuner. I have tried a TOSLink to Coaxial adapter and this does not work either.

Amazing Sony AV Amp..welcome upgrade to my Sony STR-DN1080

Was upgrading TV (to K65XR8M2) and wanted to take advantage of key features as also own a PS5.

I owned a RX-A1060 Aventage which I was very happy with in terms of sound stage, depth and all round performance with all inputs.

So far, I have been blown away by the performance, especially given the price drop. Clarity, depth, and bass is outstanding on all inputs. Dealer performed the initial set-up, which was quite lengthy and needed a few tweaks. I'll give it a few more weeks and tweak further to further refine.

A great purchase.

Bought the Denon x3800h originally coming from a Sony receiver. Was impressive but something was missing.. Swapped it for the Sony and instantly realised I'd made a mistake with the Denon. Love the Sony. Great receiver. Big improvement over the the previous 2 Sony receivers.

Overall a good unit. Clear sound. Plenty of connectivity options. But;

Says it has chromecast built in, it doesn't. Only music streaming via Chrome so I can't cast Netflix or Disney to the box.

Also requires active subs and can't connect a passive to the rear surround because of the microphone setup procedure.

Very good sound it’s just what I was after , trusted Sony gear

Very happy overall but disappointed it didn’t have a turntable input Need to use a preamp Even my 20 yr old Technics had a turntable input. Other than that very good Could be a bit more powerful in 7-1 mode Seems to be concentrating on games input than music and video

I have been fighting room acoustics forever! Been using Room EQ wizard, lots of test equipment, microphones, changed amps, speakers, crossovers and countless settings. It was ok but having the auto calibration with microphones to tune the internal DSP for you... Game changer! Both HiFi music and cinema surround sound are something I never thought I would experience at home quite like this. Well done SONY! Bang for buck is some of the best money I have ever spent.

lovey av amp, very easy to set up and sound is far better tham my year old marantz nr1510,only thing i miss is that the zone 2 does not run with the speaker outputs at the same time as was running my active tibo mini speakers for better surround sound

Impressive sound and Dolby Atmos and 360 Spatial sound mapping sounds great.

Very easy to setup and of exceptional quality. Loads of functions and great sound.

I bought it for the spatial soundmapping, when i got it home it wouldnt calibrate at all. Tried again, probably 20 times and it still wont work.Keeps giving me "error code 38".

On top of that it stopped responding to the remote, i mean the remote works but nothing happens. Zero stars! Not touching Sony products again.

It looks the same as the previous model which for me is ok, was a simple swap. Appriciated the AUX in on this model made it easier to setup my old Sony turntable. Had a slight issue with the old Ps3 but a simple reseting of display settings sorted it.

Love the new menus, much faster, and although they are very much more basic than the DN1080 less is definitely more in this case.

My only negative would be this system seems to be a little duller in the sound, still great but for me the old system just has the edge.

I bought the amp a month ago to replace a Yamaha amp. Unfortunatley, Im very disappointed as the amp keeps dropping out with the sound from Netflix or DVDs. This shouldnt happen at all, certainly not for an amp at this price point.
