I think the Walkman range of MP3 players are the best on the market in terms of price and good software. Unfortunately I have had to purchase about 4 of these machines over the years as the digital socket always eventually becomes unreliable and you can no longer input or output files. I bought this NW-E394 to replace an NWZ-E585 because it has become troublesome. I was hoping that by now, SONY would have fitted a USB-C connector instead. That being said, this NW-E394 has a better connector than the E585 and the plug connects positively. Also the 3.5mm audio jack is much better than the one on my previous player as it goes in with a reassuring click. I liked the E585 because it is has a 16GBit capacity. This new one says it has a capacity of 8GBit, but it reads as a 7GBit on my computer. The player is well made but I don't think it is quite the same quality as the E585.

When I got it out of the box, I plugged it into the USB port on my computer to charge it up and was a little worried when I saw a red temperature gauge symbol on the battery icon. I assume that means that something is overheating. I unplugged it and an Icon appeared to tell me that the battery was flat and must be charged. This is worrying, and time will tell if the player is actually faulty.

All that being said, I have found that the player does work as I would expect and it to, and also works OK when plugged into the USB port in my car (which is where I use it most). It is slightly different in operation to my last player and does not have a built in clock which annoys me more than I would have thought.

Overall I would say that this player is value for money and I expect to get reliable service from it.

I have used this model for many years and love it. Lovely size and design with the right amount of options. I like the feel of the buttons and the ease of use. It's a nice detail to be able to add pictures and to have a radio function. It takes a lot of music and the storage folders are useful. Small criticisms...The body design is not as durable as it was years ago when the components in this model were heavier - it lasted longer. It's not good that the power button doubles as an option button. Charging via USB is easy although it's not always clear when it's ready for use. But on the whole I think it's a great player and I hope a little walkman like these will always be available for those of us who prefer more analogue-style technology.

I opted to purchase a new Sony MP3 as my last one had been used solidly, practically daily for the last 11 years of ownership and was excellent. However, I only had choice of black this time around (I'd have preferred the blue but it was out of stock) and my original (2013) had finally given up - it just didn't recognise the files anymore and refused to play. So I needed a quick replacement.

Its not as attractive a unit as the original metal one, but the functions are more or less the same. However, the loudness - the volume is pretty naff in comparison...such a shame...I know we are living in the throwaway age, so I just hope this MP3 player has been built to the same standards as the original 2013 version...only time will tell I guess.

Fantastic product I've owned 4 of these over 20 years.

Bought this so I could listen to downloaded learning files while I am on the move. Perfect for that and listening to music.

Unfortunately, the product has a problem. The library is also stuck. The keys are dysfunctional. It does not reset. I will show it to the service. I'm thinking of returning it.

This is a good mp3 player overall. What would make it better was if it had a clock and if it had backlit buttons so you could see what you were pressing when it is dark.

My CDs now play in my car and also when I am doing my gardening

Ei mitään turhaa kuten bluetooth tai wifi tai asennettavia ajureita. Senkuin usbilla kiinni koneeseen ja siirtää tiedostot.

Ei tämä nyt mitään iPod-tasoa ole valikoidensa puolesta, mutta kun Apple ei enää valmista minkään sortin iPodeja ilman kosketusnäyttöä, niin tähän on tyydyttävä. Ajaa täydellisesti asiansa lenkillä ja muutenkin. Kevyt, pieni, ja oletan että kestäväkin koska tuntuu laadukkaasti rakennetulta.

Saisi olla vähän enemmän tallennustilaa kun kerta minun iPod nanossa vuodelta 2009 oli jo 16GB, mutta minkäs teet.

I have had this player for sometime, is reliable and a good Sony product.

Tämä on lähinnä hyvä vaihtoehto puhelimelle, kun kuuntelee mp3-tiedotoja, paljon helpompi käyttää, tiedostot eivät hypi sinne tänne samoin kun puhelimen näytöllä, voi hyvin käyttää yhdellä kädellä samalla kun pitää sitä taskussa. Käytön oppii nopeasti, sen jälkeen helppoa. Ei pidä odottaa liikaa, ei mikään ihmeväline, vanha kunnon mp3-väline, ei siis bluetoothia, mutta yhtä hyvin kuuluu langallisillakin kuulokkeilla.

I bought this to replace an earlier Sony model which had served me well for years. It does not disappoint. It's very easy to navigate - data transfer is quick and easy. Sound quality is excellent. I use it mostly for audio books, but it's nice to have fm access as well.

Samanlaisen ostin jo 2.5 v sitten. Nyt tarvitsin toisen mp3-soittimen, vaikka se aiemmin ostettukin toimii yhä hyvin (jotkut soittimet ovat kestäneet tuskin vuotta aktiivisessa käytössä) Ajaa hyvin asiansa päivittäisessä käytössä. Minusta toiminnot ovat loogisia ja opin ne pian. Mikä parasta, alin äänen voimakkuus on tarpeeksi pieni. Miinusta ettei voi liittää langattomia kuulokkeita.

Bought this item to replace an IPOD which was showing a fault. Glad I did as excellent sound and additional capacity (8gb against 4gb). Only complaint is the ear phones - cannot keep them in - fortunately have set which fit over your ears and work better.

now got 12 of these music players, they all play well with various music on each

Tiedostot siirtyvät tosiaankin näppärästi tietokoneelta walkmaniin. Pikaohjeet ovat lyhyet ja helppokäyttöiset. Autossa ei ollut usb-porttia, mutta AUX löytyi. Tällä laitteella sain omat musiikit taas soimaan, eikä tarvitse kuunnella radiosta soitettavaa kuraa sekä kasvaimia aiheuttavia mainoksia.

Bought to listen to music in a new car that doesn't have a CD player. Downloaded 45 albums, 3 of 3 CDs and several with 2 CDs. Very easy to download music to and have since also used it through the home radio/CD player, so no longer need to rifle through CDs.

i have had 3 mp3 players and sony one is far better than the rest

Had this bought for me 3 years ago and found it really awkward to load music.No way can you just drag and drop like my old music player, unhappy with software and no chance of adding extra memory. Pity it does not have mpeg just proprietary which is not up to the job. Feel my old machine worked better which was the "Creative"

Bought for a sick relative and has provided many hours of enjoyment. Excellent battery life so easy to keep topped up.

En tajunnut edes kyseenalaistaa, että nykyaikana myytävissä mp3-soittimissa ei olisi Bluetooth-ominaisuutta. Tämän laitteen kohdalla niin kuitenkin on ja langattomien kuulokkeiden käyttäminen mahdotonta. Harmittaa ostos.
