Works great
Works great for low n slow. Did some ribs right when I got it, and it was consistent heat for 5 hours (could've gone longer) with lump.
Awesome in both setups!
I’ve used the low and slow setup to smoke 3 pork butts (two at one time) and also used the vortex several times for chicken wings. This thing really works well for both types of cooks. For low and slow, it burned for 9 hours at about 275 before running out, and that was with two butts on the grill.

Next day delivery
I ordered the heat controller on Thursday 6-26, paid for next day FedEx. It’s now Saturday 6-28 5:05 pm and the tracking says it’s still in Indianapolis. I wanted to use product this weekend, hence the next day delivery. I’ll be returning the product.
Allows use of the entire grilling surface
I really like the charcoal heat controller. It allows me to use to entire grill surface to barbecue/smoke, instead of having the charcoal and wood onside and the meat on the opposite side. The fat from the meat drips the deflector part and not on the charcoals so there are no flare-ups. But that creates a mess on the deflector. Wrapping the deflector with aluminum foil helps some.
Great Accessory
Like to be able to concentrate the heat on the grill when I have a small meat selection. Works great. Did a nice job on the steaks.

Wish I had this for years. This is the best way to keep a strong fire with constant temperature. Love it.
Great
Tried this out one night and worked great grilling short ribs. Takes the guess work out of most of the grilling. Heat was steady using the fuse method with the coals. Excellent product. Weber never disappoints.

Upping my smoking game
I am thrilled with this accessory. Multiple ways to step up my grilling/smoking game on my charcoal grill. Heat lasts hours longer for smoking and heat is distributed better for indirect cooking. Worth the price.
Great for Thick Cuts
Have not tried slow cooking yet, but have used the cone for thick filets and loin lamb chops. You get a great sear over the cone, then just move to the side to finish them off. Beautiful results.
Just worked
Works really well, allows you to go low and slow. Just did t brisket and it turned out great.
Nice Idea But....No Need For This
I ordered this item not fully understanding its purpose. And when I received it and reviewed what it provides for my Weber Kettle I immediately noted it was of no use. I use indirect grilling a lot, and there is no need to use this attachment, none. It is well manufactured and meets the quality standards that we expect from Weber. However, I could not find a reason to keep ours. It was returned without being used. PS: I own two 22" kettle grills and a tiny Weber Smoky Joe I think it's called. Weber remains the top of the heap of charcoal grills! Hands down!!

Weber Heat Controller
The Heat Controller worked extremely well. Smoked some St. Louis style using the heat controller and they came out perfect. I really enjoy being able to use the entire cooking area of the weber kettle during the cook. The temperature was steady and even throughout. My only concern is the durability of the heat deflector but only time will tell.
Recommend to everyone
Although I think it is over priced a little. I absolutely love it, gives the best of both hot and fast and low and slow. I gained nearly 4 hrs on my low and slow by using this. All in All this is a great product.

Must have accessory
This is a premium product that is a must buy for a Weber kettle. I've been able to easily maintain temps over 500 degrees for an extended period of time by pouring charcoals into the heat controller. The shape of the bowl helps it hold more coals than other volcano shaped charcoal holders. Also, the shape allows for a "lazy snake" to be build around it. With the heat deflector I've been able to smoke at 250 degrees for upwards of 10 hours. My only issue is I wish the deflector was one piece.
Old kettle acts like new!
I bought this to install in a 30 year old kettle that I had previously modified to use a temperature controller for low and slow cooking. The problem was I could only use about half the grill to avoid direct cooking. This new internal system allows more charcoal for longer cooks as well as provides indirect cooking on the entire grate. I recently cooked a ham and the temp held exactly at 225 degrees for four hours. Really good control addition to my "old" Weber kettle.

I tested out the new Weber Charcoal Heat Controller today. After Seeing Tom Horsman review on it. I was kind of disappointed that the heat diffuser came in 4 separate sections. I was on the fence on getting a vortex and the heat beacon diffuser... then one drunk night just ordered this.
I called weber and talked to a representative there and was super cool because when u buy online inorder to return it you can not use it. I wanted to see if they would allow me try it out first and they were like try it out and he wanted feedback. I then expressed on why it was so close to the grate. He said no need for a pan they want to use the diffuse like the flavorizer bars like all the other grills.. which make sense. But I modded my preformer to have the grate level with the rim just for my liking.
Anywho.. set up a snake that I know it would last 6 to 7 hrs for the test. I will tell u if I pack them in I could prob do a 13hr± cook no issues and if I needed longer u legit lift the grate and diffuser and add them no problem...
The middle of the grill ran 225 the whole time.. where the snake was lit ran 240 to 250ish and the rest of the grill was 225 to 235ish. For me that's acceptable
