worth it
so far this camera has been amazing to use for my concert photography.
fast,light and has great features
Very goodcamera
I bought this camera over a month and am very pleased with it. It does as they on the tin. It is more than enough for me. Thank you Sony.
Tremendous
A fantastic purchase. Form factor is brilliant and the quality is outstanding.
Sony A7RV... fantastic camera
This camera has an unmatched super high resolution viewfinder, and along with the 20-70mm lens is knocking on the door of G-Master lens quality without the weight, the balance in the hand is perfect.
MY SECOND ONE
Purchased my first one when introduced in 2022 and loved it.
Then after a diversion into the Leica SL range excellent but too heavy and far to expensive, I have just again purchased another A7RM5 in 2026!
Great resolution, class leading AF and super handling.
Best camera I've owned for imaging
Had this camera before and thought the Nikon Z8 had a better feature set so I swapped to it... I was wrong, I've since come back to Sony and never been happier with the speed, image and functionality they offer.
Exceptional.
I bought the Sony A7RV + 24-70mm GMII on Black Friday in 2025 and have been extremely impressed by it so far. I switched away from fujifilm for the past 10 years so am still getting used to the Sony ecosystem, but the autofocus and image quality is like nothing I’ve ever experienced with Fuji. Very happy indeed.
everything needed in a camera
Bought just over a month ago . Its an amazing price of kit . My third sony and second full frame. Having used the a74r the menus were easy to navigate . I'm looking forward to getting some amazing pictures with it.
Best for me
Bought this for the resolution, paired it with the 24-70 2.8 GM2. I'm happy with my purchase and I look forward to using it for landscape photography, and portraits.
The besy Camera I have Ever used
What can I say, superb image quality, amazing auto focus, super IBIS, great ergonomics, consistent layout and design with other A7 models. For me the perfect camera. I am not a speed freak so the 10 frames per second is more than adequate, I was brought up in the age of film where 10 frames per second was a merely dream.
Great Camera very Versatile
I have only owned the A7R5 for a couple of weeks But I am already enjoying the improved focusing and speed of use.
Great resolution
Just bought and about to take on holiday for first time
Brilliant autofocus
The Sony A7R V stands out for its exceptional 61MP image sensor. As a wildlife photographer, I love it's brilliant autofocus, powered by AI subject recognition. The autofocus system reliably tracks even challenging subjects like birds and animals, while the camera’s speed and buffer depth add to the strong performance.
Memory slot Not fit for purpose
CAMERA IS GREAT IMAGES FOCUSING EXCELLENT. HOWVER, OLY AFEW MONTHS OUT OF WARRANTY AND THE MEMORY SLOT1 DEVELOPED A MECHANICAL FAULT. IT DOES NOT RETAIN THE CARD IN PLACE AND I HAVE TO USE THE CAMERA BODY COVER TO KEEP IT IN PLACE.This I would not expect because this mechanism has been in USE for Decades and I have never had such a failure. I would declare that is not fit for purpose.
Mahtavat uudet ominaisuudet, helppo tarkentaa.
Olen käyttänyt kameraa noin kaksi viikkoa ja olen todella tytyväinen.
Good all round excellent for landscape.
Good all round camera. I use as second body to A1. Excellent landscape performance.
Very Good Piece of KIt
I bought this camera just over a week ago and have been getting to grips with it. Very impressed with the results I have gotten so far. Still getting to grips with how to change settings as it seems a little fiddlier than the A99V I have been using for 10+ years. Happy with things and have two lens to play with. Just looking to add the grip as I find I like the feel of a camera with that in place.
Amazing
Best all round camera ever . Image quality fantastic. I believe this is the only camera you would ever need
Exciting new camera something more to challenge me
I have only had two days finding it difficult to program
Happy
I traded in Nikon Z 8 to get this camera and I have no regrets!
It’s awesome, I love the size of the camera and the image quality is amazing!
I’m really happy.
realy good camera
i used to be an Canon user but not anymore. this camera changed my whole perspective of Photography. it is way better now thank you Sony
What a camera - wow!!
Fantastic camera! Have been wanting it for a long time. The resolution and detail is insane - so crips and shart and so much detail! Wow!!! And the autofocus is just a gamechanger! Tracking animals, birds, fast moving cars, planes....... amazing! Absolutely amazing! And the amount of customisation you can do to set it up how you wan it is so good and helpful for workflow - amazing! Fanstastic camera and definitely lives up to the hype! Superb camera!!
Excellent for wildlife photography
I had been using an α7Riv for five years for bird and insect photography with just one lens, an FE 200–600 mm zoom, and was very pleased with the combination, both the 60 megapixels of the camera and the sharpness of the lens throughout the zoom range. Both had also been very reliable, especially considering the rough handling they were given in the field. The camera had taken over 300,000 pictures and, although it was still giving excellent results, mechanical wear on the controls was making them loose and liable to slip, and I had been missing some pictures when in a hurry, as you usually are when photographing birds. So when the time came to buy a new camera I naturally went for the α7Rv. It might not have had as many special features as newer designs, or as fast autofocus, but the 60 megapixels was something I was reluctant to give up.
I've only been using the α7Rv for a week but first impressions are very good. There is a lot that is familiar, of course, and all the controls come nicely to hand -- they are very well placed. It is taking some splendid shots. Two new features stand out. The recognition feature is vastly improved: it can now recognise a bird or an insect in most circumstances, and find the eye of a bird quickly and accurately. (The α7Riv really couldn't handle birds, and I turned the feature off.) The hinging and pivoting rear screen is a thing of wonder, able to assume the most exotic positions, though in fact I use it mostly to keep the screen turned inside, safe from damage.
Two small niggles about the design. Both on the old camera and of the new one, the front settings wheel, the one that controls aperture in manual mode, needs a wider ridge under it to stop it from being moved accidentally. I carry the camera with its big lens upside down on a shoulder strap, and this exposes the wheel to being moved when it brushes against my clothes. Also, the α7Rv's darken/lighten wheel, which is now electronic rather than mechanical, no longer has markings on it, so you have to look through the viewfinder to find the setting. This wastes a fraction of a second. I have now put a little white sticker on the wheel, which remains correct as long as you move the wheel only when the camera is on, so I can see its setting at a glance. If it goes out of kilter it can be reset by moving the wheel when the camera is off.
Sony have always been famous for the baroque complexity of their menus. The α7Rv has a redesigned menu and I find it just as hard to find things in it as it was in the old one. One thing I did on the old camera was to assign a choice of exposure for flying birds to the button on the lens (1/1600 second, f6.3, ISO auto, tracking autofocus). This is a nightmarish procedure involving different settings all over the menu and it is not covered properly in the manual. It is just as hard on the new camera as it was on the old one. I only know how to do it because a Finnish professional photographer with the same camera and lens showed me how. I really don't see why assigning such a mode to the lens button, or any button, shouldn't be more straightforward. I would also add that the manual is not at all well designed, going to great lengths about things I don't want to do and sadly inadequate on things that I do want to do.
But overall, this is an excellent camera and I am very pleased with it.
Really impressed with this camera
It's over a month ago since I bought this camera and I must say I am very happy with it. The photo quality is excellent, it's enhanced by an excellent dynamic range and also the 8 stops of In Body Image Stabilisation.
The autofocus is just incredible. The really excellent subject recognition makes it very easy to ensure focus. I find the AI recognition of animals, insects, trains etc. is really good.
Camera ergonomics are very good, the button layout, the grip, ports etc all excellent. I really like the articulated screen as it allows you to position the camera very high or very low and still have no issue viewing the potential photo on the LCD.
Relative to older Sony models like the A7iii the A7RV menu system is much easier to use.
One of the A7RV features I really appreciate is the sensor protection. Previously I had a A7iii camera and it was easy to get dirt on the sensor when changing a lens. I'm a lot less worried now about getting dirt on the sensor.
While 61M pixel may seem like an overkill in terms of resolution I really appreciate the flexibility it gives you. It offers you the ability to crop in post and still have a relatively high resolution image. Similarly you can opt for APS-C mode and not worry about the resolution. Finally you do have the best of both worlds because you can also store RAW files in medium or small format and save on memory space.
On the cons side I would like if the camera had internal GPS. Phone cameras have had this feature now for a good few years so it seems strange that a camera of this quality would not have it.
Though the menu system is much improved from earlier Sony Alpha cameras it could still be made easier to understand. Also, in some cases, option availability is over complicated.
Overall though I am really glad I purchased this camera and can't see myself needing to upgrade for a long time.
The fast amount of personalisation available means you can set the camera up to suit you. Lots of custom buttons available. Function buttons and my favourite the 3 programmable buttons available separately for photo, S&Q and video. Several different variations can be stored on the SD card allowing you to easily adjust your custom settings to suit whatever type of photo you are taking, eg portrait, action, landscape etc.
The finder resolution is fantastic. It's complimented by a touch screen which works well and has a very good resolution.
