Great all round phone
This is my 10th Sony Xperia phone and my 3rd version of the 5 model. Just love Sony phones, plus the 5 and 10 models aren't massive. Great camera, great battery life, just great phones 😊
Easy to use, brilliant features
Iv used the X5 range for years now, brilliant line of phone, easy to use, very durable and robust phone, long battery life, excellent for gaming and photos
Another almost perfect phone from Sony
Had this phone for around 4 months now and I love it. It's my 6th or 7th Xperia and so far it's the best. It feels great in the hand and the battery lasts all day. The camera is excellent as is the call quality and reception. The audio is one of the main reasons I buy from Sony (apart from the build quality and screen aspect) and it doesn't disappoint again. My only gripe is Sony will you please re-introduce a method of downloading album art as I have had to stop using the stock music app. You used to do this but it disappeared some time ago. Strike a deal with gracenote or take a leaf out of Poweramps book please. The wireless charging is a real bonus but could be a bit quicker. On the whole a cracking phone, buy it now.
Minimal innovation, short software support
After using the device for around 7 months, it is very similar to previous Xperia devices, the headphone jack is still present and welcome, as is SD card support and a good camera. The speakers are much better than the likes of the XZ1 Compact and Z3 Compact which has been a long standing downside to the previous models.
The biggest challenge has been getting used to the form factor - a compact line no longer exists and the 21:9 aspect ratio has ballooned the size of the device with little upside. The top of the screen is too far away to reach with one hand, so the phone has features to try and mitigate with side sense or double tapping home, however it's a clunky experience compared to being able to reach the top of the phone. Most video content is still formatted 16:9 so the space is often wasted, and in portrait the aspect ratio at 16:9 was already comfortable for reading.
The screen scratches much more easily compared to previous Xpedia devices (Z3 Compact and XZ1 Compact)
The software support is very short, with the devices easily outliving the software provided. Based on when you purchase the device you may be seeing well under 2 years support which is abysmal before all security updates stop.
Overall it has retained the features I look for, however for the price and the size you have a lot more options that will likely come up cheaper for the features you care about without the clunky 21:9 aspect ratio and better software support duration.
Sony handset upgrade
Hyper fast .
combined with my experience, this handset is an absolutely adequate stand in for my lap top computer in every way.
My 3rd Xperia!
Excellent machine!
My only gripe is that setup (from an existing Xperia) copied all the apps successfully, but not the app configurations. Nor was the home screen layout maintained. With a lot of apps, rebuildine the home screen has taken days!
Takes a bit of getting on with compared to other S
I got this after my other Sony stopped working not sure if it was a good move
It could have been amazing
For me it was the perfect phone except that Sony had messed up the software. The Xperia Home launcher keeps getting stuck and causing the phone to start overheating. It will then start closing down apps you are using thinking they are the cause. You can get around the issue but using custom launchers but then is not a fix, it's a workaround.
I wanted to love the phone but if it turn off music in the car because I don't have the AC at max is just too much.
Kaaruson35–44vSonyn puhelimilla Jo 5v
Juu edellinen oli XZ3 ja nyt Experia 5IV, taattua Sonyn laatua.
Puhelimen laatu
Kissa pudotti puhelimen ja takakansi meni säröille on kyllä todella hepponen verrattuna edelliseen puhelimeeni sony xperia 5 malliin
Good all round Phone.
Good All round Phone, fits in phone nicely, sound great, picture is good.
Perfect size, almost perfect Specifications
Poor battery life. Overheating is a real issue, preventing usage.
All round package
I am having a wonderful experience with the phone.
Pros:
1)The sound quality is marvelous and one of the best that I have heard on a phone. It is very hard to find a front facing speaker in the market. Dynamic vibration is a hit or a miss but when it works, it's one of the best experience.
2)The battery life is fine for day to day use and consistently gives a 8-9hr SOT (screen on time) with 120 Hz display setting on.
3)The phone is narrow which helps it easy to hold compared to my previous phone. The 21:9 aspect ratio is good for watching films.
- Not having a water drop notch gives a good uninterrupted viewing experience.
- The headphone jack is a testament for Sony's commitment to its customers. Every other phone manufacturer has removed the headphone jack and suggested to buy a dongle. Having a headphone jack gave me the option to listen with wired and wireless earphones. Giving customer the choice is what I liked the most about this phone.
- SD card slot is another great feature that this phone has. These days when phone manufacturers are making people to use cloud storage, Sony is one of the companies that has been an SD card slot.
- The photography pro and videography pro are very good apps to learn more about photography and taking professional grade videos. Before the purchase of this phone I always used general phone camera app available on my previous phone. But now I could take a picture of the scene in the way I intended to make it look like or in a way that makes it look more natural.
Improvements that could be made:
- The security updates could be extended for one more year. I don't care about the OS updates. But please try to extend the security updates to 4 or 5 years instead of 3 years.
- The basic mode in photography app could be improved. When opening the manual mode, there could be an option called info on the buttons so the customers could learn quicker on what shutter speed or ISO means. This could give general audience an understanding on how to use them much more easier.
- Instead of providing a 2.5x telephoto lens, it would have been cool if a 3x telephoto lens is provided.
- Not having a water drop notch gives a good uninterrupted viewing experience.
Excellent
Definitely one of the best phones I've had. Changed from a pixel 7 and this is much lighter and nicer in the hand. I had a blackberry key2 before that and this is the closest thing to it
Still needs evolution
Make it smaller
With better case.
Asus ZenFone 9
More colour choices.
Excellent Camera, Poor Reception, Poor Fingerprint
I bought this phone three months ago based on the camera spec (I assumed they'd got the basics covered). Apart from the overheating problem the camera is excellent.
The first main issue is Mobile signal strength, no matter what sim I use or location the phone's reception is very poor, I suspect the internal antenna is weak.
The second big issue is the fingerprint scanner, it works maybe one time out of ten and cannot be relied upon. Often locking you out of banking apps etc. Very frustrating.
Bascially it's almost unusable as a day to day phone but takes great pictures and video, however, I have cameras that can do that.
Very disappointed with this expensive product and not the usual high quality I would expect from Sony.
Revisiting an old friend
I've had the Xperia 5 iv for about 3 weeks now. I'm still finding little things which make Sony phones so enjoyable. Had many Xperia phones in the past, but went Huawei last time out for a change. Very glad to be back on familiar territory
Great phone
Bought just over a week ago and very impressed so far apart from a few issues with not receiving notifications.

I've always had Sony Xperia phones and can't knock them for ease of use and great quality
Really nice phone but one glaring problem, the loc
If you want a phone you can just stick in your pocket, pull out and tap the screen to see if the notification needs sorting then this one is not for you.
The lockscreen is ridiculously sensitive so any thing that will wake this screen, unless it's on a table or in your hand then be ready for accidental touched galore. I had to turn everything off that would wake the screen.
I am now back on my Pixel 7 Pro which may be a bit "bland" in comparison but at least I can stick it in my pocket and not worry about. Common issue when you look at the forums but obviously Sony not bothered. Severely let down by something which can be easily sorted but not on this phone.
Excellent
I have had Sony Xperia phones for my last four phones and have been pleased with each one I have owned, my recent purchase has surpassed all the others and I am extremely happy
Great mid range phone.
I brought the phone for everyday use. Really happy with how compares to premium range. Camera is great. Phone is stylish and feels great in hand sound is also amazing. Phone does seem to get a bit warm at times
Excellent picture quality
Very happy with my purchase another member of the Sony family.
Great phone
I bought the phone about a month ago and am very pleased with the camera and video recorder and the speed in which the phone operates I only have 2 gripes the key pad for typing is to small as i have big hands and the volume could do with being louder but apart from these i really like the phone
