LG DualUp 28MQ780-B.AEK Quad HD 27.6" Nano IPS LCD
Arvosana 5/5[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This LG monitor is a great monitor with some special features that make a fab experience. Some of these include: - its low blue light, flicker-free technology and automatic brightness adjustment that prevents your eyes being strained; a USB-C so you charge your laptop and transfer data at the same time without extra cables cluttering up your desk; a fantastic Ergo stand you can tilt, pivot, extend, retract or change the height of the monitor for comfortable posture while working.
The C-Clamp & Grommet and One Click Mount make it to install easily without other equipment.
It has a unique 2560 x 2880p resolution so you basically get two monitors worth of screenspace - this is very handy for big projects, programming and multitasking.
It has a sensor that reacts to light, making the screen brighter in bright areas and darker in the dark. It provides a comfortable working environment.
The negatives are that the user booklet is quite limited in information how to actually setup the monitor on the pc and get the dual screen.
The menu button is found on the bottom rear part of the screen and can be quite fiddly to move to your desired settings.

Arvosana 5/5[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Ok, so. I work a lot from home and often do some design work and photo editing. I have been thinking of getting a big monitor, since I still use my laptop..(I know.). Well, this one is big and I mean big.
My first clue was the box in which it arrived.. Huge. Though well packed and protected. Inside you have all your manuals and paperwork, all the cabels you can possibly need and then the monitor itself with a stand. When you put it all together it is very heavy. The stand is very sturdy though, so there was no problem. The cable management inside the monitor is a good idea and I really like that it swivels, a really handy trick. It’s very massive and black so not exactly aesthetically pleasing, but it does the job, so what.
One thing I have to mention is it takes a lot of space, so if you don’t have a desk deep enough, it might be a bit uncomfortable, because it needs to sit a bit further away from you since it’s so big.
The screen format (horizontal) wasn’t a big deal for me, yes, it needs some getting used to, but after that it’s great and very productive. The picture is bright enough and very clear.
What I hate about it is the biggest power brick I’ve seen. I understand why the need for it and you can hide it too, so this doesn’t affect my review, just thought I’d mention it.
So to sum up. Big screen for more productivity. It’s massive and heavy, so think ahead where you put it. Great picture, great features. I do recommend this one.
LuffthansoM, 35–44vArvostelu kirjoitettu sivustolla The InsidersA Joy to use
Arvosana 5/5[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was really excited to test this, as it seemed like a simple & obvious innovation to increase productivity.
Summary: Pricey but impressive implementation from LG to showcase a new screen format that hopefully is here to stay
Detailed version:
Some mixed first impressions when opening the box. The monitor build has a lot of plastic which doesn't exude premium quality (especially for the price), but the weight is surprisingly light for such a large screen. The clamp stand is extremely sturdy and smooth. The screen is a real joy to use - having the tall screen feels awkward for the first 30 mins but soon fades away. Surprisingly, you don't feel a lack of WIDTH but the extra height means multi-tasking heaven especially in QHD resolutions. Playing a movie, PS4 input or even just using having more windows open makes you feel smug you have room to spare. The speakers have punchy audio and the screen brightness is excellent - the menu controls are simply and intuitive. I'm a convert now and normal monitors feel lacking - I can't see myself going back. My two negatives - 1. You can buy two monitors for the same price, so this needs to come down to a more competitive price 2. The power brick is huge and could be more compact
AnonyymiM, 35–44vArvostelu kirjoitettu sivustolla The InsidersExcellent
Arvosana 5/5Excellent additional screen for à 2015 Mac Retina. Resolution very comparable, seemless connection via displayport.
Jean UKArvostelu kirjoitettu sivustolla lg.com/ukPerfect primary and secondary display!
Arvosana 5/5Bought this monitor on release and it's basically perfect. I mainly use it as a second (+third) monitor using PBP. I also used to use the USB-C to connect my work laptop to when working from home.
The only ways I think they could make this form factor any better would be to integrate the power brick, and make it a 120Hz OLED, then it would be the dream monitor.

Arvosana 4/5[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This screen was fantastic for my teenage son. Automatic brightness adjustment really helped his eyes as a games console fanatic who spends long hours playing. The ergo stand is adjustable and adaptable for any angle and position which comes in very useful when moving around the work area and working from a distance. The screen itself fits to the desk or work area in a vice position with a simple tightening of the screw cap. The unit appears very good quality however is not heavily weighted. The usb-c outlet saves additional wires and allows gadget charging.
Great size and if thumbs up from a very technology-driven teenager who advised then screen quality was definitely an upgrade.
Littleshopper88N, 25–34vArvostelu kirjoitettu sivustolla The InsidersGreat monitor in certain uses
Arvosana 4/5[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Using a 24" monitor whilst working from home the past two years, I’ve been considering sizing up recently. So when I heard about the LG DualUp and it’s unusual 16:18 ratio (essentially two 16:9 monitors one atop the other) I was intrigued.
Firstly, the monitor doesn’t come with a conventional stand. LG includes the Ergo stand in the box, allowing for a large range of movement of the monitor on the arm, and it’s very easy to adjust. The Ergo stand fit easily to my desk with the included C-clamp, as easy as turning a single screw. The monitor then attached to the arm simply by clipping it onto the end, extremely easy setup.
The monitor comes with a wealth of inputs: 2x HDMI, 1 DP and 1 USB-C. The USB-C post allows for 90W of power delivery as well as data transmission so allowed me to connect and power my laptop with a single cable.
I was surprised to see that my work laptop and PC handled the odd resolution (2560 x 2880, essentially two 21.5” 1440p screens) out the box with no additional software. I work with a lot of spreadsheets with my job, and this high resolution allowed me to zoom out quite far whilst still being able to read the contents, which allowed me to get a lot of info on screen without the need to scroll. The sheer height of the screen though did require me to look up and down though, which does feel odd to do.
However, other workstreams like PowerPoint don’t work as well with the portrait mode, with applications over years being built for landscape screens and wasting a lot of real estate on the squarish screen. The Windows snap system does not allow for snapping to the top and bottom half of the screen to allow for better multi-window work. There is some LG software available to help with this, but I can’t install this on my work laptop.
Photo editing worked well, especially with the high colour gamut and ambient brightness features of the screen allowing a massive canvas to edit photos, especially portrait photos.
Gaming doesn’t fare quite as well, with many games not supporting the odd resolution. Many games; on screen icons looked stretched and distorted, or disappeared off the side of the screen completely. Others letterboxed the game in the middle of the screen, which ended up I had a smaller usable screen than my old 24” monitor.
Overall, this is a good quality monitor, with plenty of high end features. However it is certainly more useful in certain cases than others.
AnonyymiM, 25–34vArvostelu kirjoitettu sivustolla The Insidersup and down as good as side to side?
Arvosana 4/5so far so good. Got to get used to nodding as I work rather than shaking my head...Feels more positive!
bischyArvostelu kirjoitettu sivustolla lg.com/ukLG Monitor 28MQ780-B a good buy
Arvosana 4/5[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] LG Monitor is a good buy. I had been using two monitors for a long time and always struggle for space. LG 28MQ780-B.AEK is refreshing, neatly addressing the ubiquitous need for multiple monitors on an office table and freeing up space.
Things that I liked:
- Aspect ratio of the monitor, providing me two monitors in one
- Screen Resolution - It has a solid brightness and contract for typical day-to-day use. Colour accuracy and brightness are good.
- Stand neatly packing the cables.
- Features: Enough Ports. One can also charge laptops through the USB-C port
Things that could have been better:
- Monitor Arm- it provides great movability to the screen and study but would have preferred a better one in terms of design, space it takes and the effective use of space.
- USB port didn't connect to display as second screen the first time and had to fiddle with other ports to connect.
- When use the monitor as one screen - it is not a good set-up for watching videos or cinematic experience as it leaves huge black bars on either side.
- 60Hz display - When watching fast moving objects, there is a blur given the refresh rate. However, my intended use of this monitor is is more on the office side hence, I may not consider it too much of a hindrance.
Final Thoughts:
My reason behind buying this monitor was to get away from multiple monitors at my desk and use one and it meets this criteria really well. Pricing at bit expensive but may work if one manages some discount.
AnonyymiN, 35–44vArvostelu kirjoitettu sivustolla The InsidersA too tall monitor with limited versatility
Arvosana 3/5I'm a software engineer and I bought this monitor to replace a 29" ultrawide monitor + laptop screen setup. My goal was to use a single monitor with a keyboard+mouse. I am using it with a Macbook Pro. Also I have a narrow desk (60cm).
It's a great monitor, but not a love at first sight.
What would've made me a happy customer in order of importance:
* Monitor is too tall, I would like to have proper support for rotating the monitor 90 degrees
* A better monitor arm, which holds the monitor very close to the column (I had to replace it)
* No speakers and therefore no bezel at the bottom
My issues detailed:
* When using the monitor as intended, I find it too tall. Depending on the monitor's position you either have to look up too high at the top of screen, or the bottom of the screen is too far away down. Same issue as curved vs flat ultrawide monitors. I personally don't like the 16:18 ratio, I can't recommend using it this way, unless you rarely have important content in far-away areas of the screen.
* It doesn't support natively if you want to rotate it 90 degrees to get 18:16, which is in my opinion a much better ratio. This is basically two small 21:9 (20.25:9 to be exact) screens on top of each other. The HUD won't rotate and you loose the PBP feature if you want to use the monitor with two inputs as two separate screens. I would really like LG to release a firmware update where rotation is properly supported.
- Another issue is when using the screen in 18:16, that none of the resolution settings result in a clear picture, texts are very slightly burry. (While some of the same resolutions are working well in 16:18). This might be just a limitation of Mac OS, not sure whether Windows/Linux handles this any better.
* The ergo arm is great quality, but I had to replace it as it doesn't go far back enough (what a shame). You will lose 15cm of your desk, while with the arm I already had this is only 5cm. On a 60cm narrow desk this matters.
* I personally don't care about the built-in speakers, I would've like it better if there is none and you can have maybe no bezel at the bottom. (like e.g. the Huawei Mateview)
