The phone looks and feels amazing, it's extremely powerful and it holds up extremely well also years after its initial release. Screen is beautiful with vivid colours and ultra fast response times, the dual speaker setup makes for a very compelling media device, and the overall materiality is top of the line.

The triple camera setup also, while not extraordinary by any means, it does its job fairly well and it's clear that lots of thought went into making sure the three cameras work flawlessly together.

HOWEVER..

The device falls flat on its face for many basic functions one came to expect to just work, and it's so frustrating that I ended up returning the phone. Here below the list

Phone calls are nightmare material:

the microphone array is tuned so terribly that muffled sounds, hisses, and distortions are reported at every phone call, forcing me to continue every phone calls through a dedicated wired headset

Wi-fi connection is weaker than on a seven years old Huawei phone:

As stated, my old Huawei P30 lite has no problem connecting to my wi-fi network at home while this flagship top-of-the-line smartphone sometimes struggles.

Bluetooth AAC codec is extremely poorly optimised and, unfortunately, the default option:

While connecting to my car infotainment I would just expect the music to, you know, play without a hitch. Instead, it constantly changes bitrate as it fails to transmit clearly in full quality.

I had to resort to a third party app to automatically use the default SBC codec which, at least, works well.

Another great phone from Sony.

A Great upgrade from the Sony Xperia 1 III.

Ostin tämän puhelimen reilu kaksi vuotta sitten. Puhelin on toiminut lähes moitteettomasti. Kaksi viikkoa sitten puhelimen sormenjälkilukija lakkasi toimimasta. Kamerat ovat huippuluokkaa päivänvalossa- hämärässä kuvaaminen vaatii käytännössä kolmijalan. Puhelimessa oli lupaus kahdelle Android käyttöjärjestelmälle ja kolmeksi vuotta tietoturva päivityksiä. Tämä on ollut ainoita ja isoimpia miinuksia tämän hinta luokan puhelimessa. Uskon silti hankkivani seuraavaksi älypuhelimeksi Sonyn puhelimen.

Bought this a few months after launch and believe still happy with the purchase.

Would have been 5 stars, but what about the older customer that like their phones to have FM radio.

I think this is a great phone. It is lightweight for a flagship phone. The form factor is just perfect to hold, and you get used to the aspect ratio really quickly. There are only a few things I don't think are great. The mobile signals are not always the strongest, and of course the phone does get warm when being used. Great phone over all

this is the same phone I bought 18 months ago but had to do a factory reset to see if it fixed an issue with the finger print sensor that has stopped working, as instructed by my mobile provider before they would consider classing it as a warranty repair, pretty poor that the sensor has failed only after 18 months and that you seem to think it is a new phone I have purchased even though its the exact same phone

I love the screen ratio. The way the system works with all my apps. The audio through my Bluetooth headphones is sublime and if I need the speakers there is a brilliant and vibrant soundstage. Still getting to know my phone but hey it's marvellous..

after few mounths fingerprint scanner stopped working like my last xperia 5 iii

The Sony Xperia 1 IV is a really nice bit of kit I am glad I bought it.

Phone is quick. Sony android wrapper is fine. Made taking screenshots harder. But here's the big issue. Most video don't expand to the super wide-screen format so this phone and it's flashy 4k screen are wasted. Add the fact it's a bit unwieldy to hold it's not really a good user experience.

Sony also sell a dedicated phone cover. It's the nastiest cheapest plastic cover I've ever used. Sharp to hold and just makes the long phone even less friendly to hold. This will be my last Sony phone, the better shaped phones are now Samsung and Google...just buy those...will find they connect better to external devices as well. And you can hold them without leaving dents on your fingers. Maybe get your design team to use the phone with the case you sell before launching next time.

This is my 6th sony phone and I believe this is the best. The camera needs a whole weekend to understand and tbh I still don't know how to use it well. Magic eraser function 8s great. The processor is fast and I noticed the difference when I tried other phones. Battery is good. I couldn't find any other problem but the finger sensor but was fixed by Sony, possibly a software problem.

Had many Sony phones over the years and this is not a good one. Burnt screen and constant factory resets due to it crashing regularly. Wont be having anouther.

The pro video 📹 📸 and pro camera on this 📱 phone is excellent. When you video you can pause ⏸ video and go 🔙 to it to finish recording.

Phone 📱 very expensive though 💷 k😢😭 but I'm 😊 happy to have it. It has fantastic features in it better than other smartphones📱 ✅ 👌🏿

Speed, the best thing about the iv, charging gaming and general use of the phone, just touch the screen and boom there it is at you your fingertips, I love gaming and it is the feature of the Experia, love gaming love Sony love the phone, No.1 handset .

Very poor will not be buying sony again. 1st one died after 13 months not repairable. Replacement has a issue as it only charges randomly.

Maybe the best phone I have owned. Amazing screen, fast system and camera system that has me leaving my oly Pen at home now. Battery does not last as long as some maybe. But as I carry battery banks for other items I don't find it an issue. Now thinking of getting a gimbal and using the fantastic video apps to make some better home movies :)

"The Product" in many respects is wonderful: Size, Shape, Call & Picture Quality, so I fully expected it to be the Ultimate Flagship I was looking for - it was intended to be an upgrade to my Xperia 5ii, which I have thoroughly enjoyed for the last 24 months.

I have had this handset operational for a week. The transfer of data eventually worked ok. The handset is working fine and so far I am happy with the upgrade.

Best phone I've owned since my iPhone 7. Feels solid. Software is quick and experience is buttery smooth. It is clean and deeply functional

I've got this phone about a mount ago and i was suprized by its quality of build, it't great camera when used on manual mode , the 3,5 mm jack that it,s still present and the lightness it has! Great phone overall! A great alternative to other phones!

It is a great phone with a decent camera and unique dimensions. I previously had a Mark II which worked for me for over three years. This is more of the same with various improvements all over the place. I did prefer the side sense setup on the Mark II, though. That would be my only real complaint.

Another quality upgrade by sony, so easy to set up, moved everything from my old sony phone to the new one in about 10 mins, the camera is even more better than pervious versions, the zoom works fabously, only issue i have had with the phone, was to keep it charged as i am for ever picking it up to play with it
