Ulottuvuutta, laadukasta kuvausta
Lintukuvaajaharrastelija55–64v Great lightweight lens ,very flexible.
It's an excellent lightweight lens with a great focal length variety. Also adding a Canon RF 2x Extender has made this a joy to use, it easily covers the range of my old 150- 600mm Tamron, i am very satisfied with it.
Good lens , with a few reservations
The lens is a compromise but excellent value for money. Must be used in very good lighting conditions but I was aware of that. A bit plasticy but again that is the compromise but it is very light. The f8 is the biggest disappointment but again it's a compromise.

Hupiluontokuvaaja35–44v Magnificent All-Round Zoom Lens
Good evening everyone. I'm a 40 years old wildlife photographer and a Canon-only-user since 25 years. I have came a long way along with Canon since the analogue SLRs, through the DSLRs and into the Mirror-less (Canon R10). I bought the 100-400 RF lens because I needed an all-round lens to photography animals, mainly birds, large and small. When I was using DSLRs (Canon 1 series with Canon EF L Tele-Lenses) I had to carry a lot of weight literally to the shooting location in the forest or mountains for example. Also, the DSLRs were not always able to capture everything what I wanted due to the physical limitations of the DSLRs as an invention - mechanical shutter max speed, focus points only in the centre, maximum F-stop for focusing only of 8 with tele-extenders, almost impossible to handheld with those big long telephoto lenses due to their weight and size. When I switched to the mirror-less body (R10) and the RF lens (100-400) hundreds of new opportunities arose. Now I can shoot in overcast weather, in very dark conditions, shoot very fast (23 frames per second), focus at F-stop even bigger than 8, and the very best feature - Canon's Animal-Eye focus & tracking. Before, with DSLRs I had the Canon 400 L F5,6 lens - magnificent, but it had a fixed distance. If the animal approached me it was hard or impossible to focus on it. With the Canon's 100-400 RF not only can I sustain the focus on the animal wherever it stands but also track it with the eye-focus and lightning speed due to its advanced focusing mechanism. And the stabilisation is a wonder-thing in itself! Now I can shoot handheld on an overcast day in poor lightning conditions and succeed when it was impossible with the DSLR lenses due to their era-bound-limitations. I strongly recommend this versatile lens to everyone, a blockbuster-of-a-lens, because of its almost limitless capabilities and a high grade build quality. Everything in this lens I see as pros - image quality, build quality, focus speed, stabiliser, small size and low weight, zoom range enabling to shoot almost everything within sight, literally. I shot thousands of photos with it since my purchase, I haven't found any cons yet. It's the best all-round lens I ever had in my career. In fact, it is so good that, and I am so satisfied with Canon quality that I bought also a super-tele lens the Canon RF 800 F11 lens for those rare extra-long shooting cases. I love those products, they are superb. Keep it up, Canon!

Great Lens
Bought this lens to get more reach when taking photos of wildlife.
Sharp on a budget lens Wow
This lens on a R8 camera with built in teleconverter just awsome, you don`t need to get close to insects as you can zoom upto 1600mm with 4x its fantastic
A great improvement on my last telephoto lens.
When I bought my R10 there were only two lenses that were available and so bought an adaptor to use my telephoto from my 700D camera.
Then I saw the release of the 100-400 and decided to buy. I have only used it twice so far but am very pleased with it with no regrets about the purchase.
lightweight
I have had this lens for a couple of monthes. It was bought to replace my older 100-400L whichI had used for about 5 years on my EOS D 6. So i used it on my R6 with a converter but needed to get the set up lighter Well its definately lighter but there are draw backs its a lot slower but more managable The way it performs with the R 6 is pretty good most of its drawbacks are handled by the R series body. To get the best from it you will need to make some effort with tthe camera. the realy bad news is you are using a shower proof camera and the lens isnt. So its cheap but it is going to limit where and when its used
Small & light for a 100-400mm lens!
I have a Canon 100-500mm f4.5-7.1L lens, but knew that this would be restrictive in view of it's weight on a forthcoming safari in Kenya. I wanted something even lighter, & was happy to forgo a bit of reach for the convenience of less weight. Having read the reviews, and taking into account the close-focusing ability of this lens lending it to photographing flowers and insects at half-life-size, I decided it wouldn't be unnecessary duplication to purchase the 100-400. Very pleased I did, IQ is great, weighs only 635g!
RF 100-400mm Sturdy new bit of kit
Still feeling my way through this new lens. Bought for capturing African safari wildlife along with my R7, but still grappling with the AI tracking focus for wildlife action shots of birds in flight etc. I updated firmware on both camera and lens soon after purchase, and tried all the fixes suggested by canon users blog site, but still not as sharp as other cheaper canon lenses that l have. Taking baby steps with it and have had some good results with close up and macro shots on manual focus of sparkling rainbow ice crystals recently, so reassured it has clarity and sharpness potential. So probably just have you work out the settings before next safari trip.
Good features for the money
Have had the RF100-400 for a month to use on my R7. I feel it is good value for the money and the lighter weight of this RF lens is advantageous. Have used it to get some decent pics of squirrels in the garden whilst shooting in to quite bright sun - so tails looked good! Also used it at a local nature reserve to get good pics of finches on a feeder. Looking forward to using it a bit more, but pleased with the results thus far. Handles well. Spot/point focus setting recommended on AF setting for camera.
Excellent
I bought this lens a few weeks ago to replace my EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS II USM for a little more reach in my wildlife photography and to complete my migration to mirrorless. I have to say that it is an excellent lens, so light and effective, but you have to give it lots of light at the top end, although it is very comfortable at f8 and the iso isn't too bad and easily managed. One of my images using this lens on an R10 won the image of the week in my camera club so I can't praise it higher than that!
All Good Thank You
So far I’ve been very pleased with my new lens I feel I’m managing to take photos that were not possible with my old lens
Great zoom range and very light.
I was given this lens as a Christmas present, after lots of prompting! I haven't used it much but the image stabilisation seems to be really good, given the gloom at the moment. Given the relatively small maximum aperture that can only be a good thing. This lens is also a lot lighter than the 24-240 that I have with my Canon RP.

hinta-laatusuhteeltaan hyvä
Laadukkaan tuntuinen tähän hintaluokkaan, kuvat kirkkaita ja valovoimaisuus ok.

Used this for month now and am loving every moment. Default recommend it.
Very impressed
I'm an amateur photographer and was really impressed with how easy to use and light the lens is. Great results even though i am no expert

Sharp images when hand-held at full zoom
No problems with the lens but still experimenting with focusing as finding R6 complicated. Successful images are stunning. It is lighter than my previous EF lens but still heavy to carry around all day.
Great lens. Sharp images and not too heavy, you can hold it for long periods before becoming tired. Great for wildlife and have some good shots of the moon.
Excellent value for money given the quality of the images.
Bought earlier this month and blown away with the quality given the price. Easy to handle when fitted to the R7, and no issue with portability of the lens when not in use given its light weight.
great lens high quality photos achieved.
I have used this lens in a number of situations now taking wildlife shots
The quality of the photos that i have taken in still and moving shots of subjects
have been exellent and i would recommend this lens to anyone.
Excellent for the price
Very useful focal; length, I would have liked a larger aperture but couldn't afford the alternative.
