25 months of a working TV is not good enough. The screen has no picture, though the backlights still work and I have sound. The manual says perform a factory reset via the settings... But I have no picture... Genius?!

a Excellent television, really like the Ambilight function. I purchased two of the 50PUS8536... As I am happy and impressed. Also have a 2019 model non Ambilight 6900 series... Which has been reliable and in daily use. The only issue with the 50PUS8536 that I've noticed and would hope for it to be rectified in a software update from Philips is that..."you cannot delete wifi hotspot or passwords"....this makes it difficult if one wants to use another wifi hotspot...as the television automatically connects to the previous WiFi that's been stored. (a way round it is to re enter the previously stored password incorrectly and then search for new WiFi so that the television connects next time round to the new preferred WiFi) Definitely 5 stars if this could be sorted in an update

Choose Purley for ambilight this is my second from range I don't think I would change my main TV for anything else

The ambilight is a good feature but wish i had purchased a better tv without the gimmick.

Sound quality is decent enough but not much bass from the speakers, would advise it needs a soundbar if you want better audio for movies or music, for standard tv watching its fine.

Now to the picture. Generally decent, although you seem to have to pick between a dimmer picture or oversaturated colours. Really poor while watxhing sports, the processing seems too slow and it almost looks like your not in HD at times. The worst thing is the shadows on the screen when in bright single colour, it actually puts you off the tv, add to this light leaking on dark pictures.

Warranty is a load of rubbish too, complained about the picture issue but was told this isnt bad enough and would pass Philips quality checks, so I'm lumbered with a poor TV for top price.

Save your money and go for another brand, if you want ambilight you can pick it up cheap enough and add it to any telly, or get some LEDs for fraction of the cost.

Would definitely recommend thisTV we are so pleased with it so far. You get lots of different features and the ambilight is great and makes the room look amazing when the lights are turned off or on. We can’t put ours flat against the wall but it still gives a great effect.

Love the ambilight feature and the picture quality is excellent for the price

Have only used for a few weeks, but I love it so far. I find the light great while watching movies as it really draws me in. I like the way you can adjust the lights as to your usage of tv, the mood that you want.

Ambilight just makes everything so much more cinematic!!

Was concerned about build quality having had a poor experience with my first Philips lcd tv back in 2007.

Nevertheless we liked the ambilight and was recommended by the retailer so went for it. The features worked well and the picture quality was ok. Iplayer never worked correctly and constantly crashed even after firmware updates. Didn’t play nicely with my pioneer vsx329 receiver with constant disconnects. Ambilight was very immersive and a big selling point.

However after just 7 months the screen has died with only the backlight on. No image at all, several at home fixes attempted ( over phone with Philips and Currys ) but tv had to be sent away for repair.

Very upset this tv only managed 7 months before failing catastrophically. Confidence in Philips tvs totally shattered. Only 2 year warranty offered by Philips which says a lot about they’re confidence in they’re own products.

Never again !

Ambilight kiva lisä ja toimii hyvin. Android käyttis ei mikään paras omasta mielestä.

Hyvät puolet alkuun:

Paneeli itsessään on oikein miellyttävä. Suoraan edestä päin katsottuna värit ovat kylläisiä, mutta eivät näytä liian epäluonnollisilta. Sivulta päin katsoessa värit haalistuvat omaan silmään huomattavasti 30° katselukulmasta, mikä voi käydä häiritseväksi, jos televisiota katsoo suuremmassa olohuoneessa suurempi porukka.

Kontrasti puolestaan on todella hyvä hintaluokkaan (450€) nähden. Direct LEDin ansiosta taustavalon epätasaisuudet näkee vain, kun ruudulla on tasainen harmaa väri, eli ei käytännössä koskaan normaalissa sisällössä. En toki täysin pimeään teatterihuoneeseen tätä ostaisi, mutta lienee selvä, että niihin olosuhteisiin harkitsisi jo OLEDia.

Television rakenne tuntuu hyvin laadukkaalta. Näytön takaosa on miellyttävän tuntuista muovia, joka ei pidä lämmön muutoksien yhteydessä häiritseviä ääniä, toisin kuin jotkin muut budjettitelevisiot. Itse näyttöosaa vielä laadukkaammalta tuntuu television jalusta. Jalusta on tukevaa metallia, eikä liu'u vaikka TV-tasoa siirtäisi tai nostaisi. Paneelin katselukulmat on selvästi huomioitu jalustaa suunnitellessa, sillä siinä on reilusti kääntövaraa. Kääntömekanismi tuntuu lisäksi luotettavalta.

Sitten ikäviin puoliin:

Android TV-integraatio tuntuu halvalta. Televisioon on valmiiksi asennettu useita suoratoistopalveluita, joista en ole koskaan kuullutkaan. Onneksi useimmat niistä saa poistettua, vaikka jotkin tunnetummat, kuten Apple TV ja Amazon prime, on jätettävä TV:n syövereihin. Ennalta ladattujen sovellusten määrä pistää kyllä askarruttamaan, kun viiden päivän käytön jälkeen TV alkaa valittamaan tallennustilan puutteesta. Käytön aikana olin televisioon ladannut vain ja ainoastaan yhden kevyen mediasoitinsovelluksen. Ohjelmisto saa heti toivomaan, että televisio olisi "tyhmä" halvan "smart" ominaisuuden sijaan. Tämä Android TV-integraatio laskee heti itse käyttömukavuuden ja ominaisuuksien arvosanaa.

Kaiuttimet ovat juuri sitä, mitä olettaisi budjettitelevisiosta, eli epätasaiselta kuulostavat. Television ääniprosessointi pyrkii selvästi vahvistamaan matalia taajuuksia, mutta lopulta kuulostaa siltä, että taajuusvasteessa olisi huomattavia aukkoja. Peruskatseluun siis television kaiuttimilla selviää, mutta ei näistä saa kovin hyvää elokuvaäänikokemusta saati sitten musiikinkuuntelukokemusta. Tämäkin laskee hieman ominaisuuksien arvosanaa.

Ohjaimen takana on kyllä näppäimistö, mutta se on suunniteltu pienisormisille. Suurempikätinen henkilö osuu helposti useampaan kirjaimeen kerralla yrittäessään kirjoittaa näppäimistöllä. Lisäksi näppäimistöön integroidut nuolinäppäimet ovat aivan liian pienet, mikä ei käy millään tavalla järkeen, kun niitä oltaisiin voitu helposti laajentaa täyttämään koko nuolinäppäimille tarkoitettu tila. Ostopäätöksessä jättäisin näppäimistön siis kokonaan huomiotta.

Kokonaisuudessaan:

Vaikka ikäviin puoliin kului enemmän kirjaimia kuin hyviin puoliin, Philipsin PUS85X6 sarja on lopulta hintaluokkansa parhaimmistoa kuvanlaadussa. Tiiviisti istuva muutaman henkilön katsomo istuu mieluusti tämän äärellä useammankin elokuvan ajan putkeen, kun Android TV on unohdettu ja soundbar on asetettu telkkarin eteen.

The Tv looks good and have very nice colors in light areas but if you have to see a movie in almost all the dark areas there is a problem with the skin tones. The people faces looks like purple and green with loose of details. It looks like a HDR problem. Please help me how to fix it.

I picked this rating because the TV itself was easy to set up, the picture is better than our previous TV, I wasn't sure about the Ambilight function, but having used it, I noticed a considerable decrease in eye strain, especially whilst playing games. Overall, this TV is a great product, we also got a great deal price wise as well.

absolutly brilliant TV in gaming mode the lot ambilight is a fantastic bonus too super sharp quality and fantastic sound

fantastic sound and images with dolby vision and dolby atmos , my only gripe is does not support now tv and britbox apps other than that amazing

TV in the showroom looked good and we thought we could get on with it, we found that we just couldn't get on with the set up etc, we found that we both ended up with the headache's from the constant screen colour changes etc.

For people with good eyes this would be an excellent tv.
