I have now taken advantage of both the “winter cashback” deals and the introductory offers from Sony with regards my brand new A7 IV camera body and 2 lenses. Being brand new to photography the initial cost is daunting but Sony have somewhat eased that burden with these cashback offers. Having purchased a Sony camera specifically knowing I would pair it with this G-master lens, I have only used this lens for a couple of weeks and the results are excellent. I love the image quality and capabilities to compress and isolate the subject with a 35mm. However, considering the cost of this lens in comparison to the 35mm FE F1.8, which I purchased first, I’m a little disappointed with the build quality of the the copy I have received as the body case next to the aperture ring creaks when handling the lens body. This isn’t what I would expect at this price point and especially being a G-Master lens, I rate it 4 out of 5 stars.

I've bought it two weeks ago and only used it few times, but from what I can see it's amazing lens, very sharp, great bokeh and really good color rendering. So far love it, therr is slight CA wide open but only tiny bit and can be easy corrected in post.

There is a reason so many of us photographers, Videographers and social content creators buy a 35mm.

I have taken and captured my best work on this lens.

Paired with a sony body, the competition doesn't come close.

The Sony FE 35mm f/1.4 GM lens delivers outstanding image quality, smooth bokeh, and quick, accurate autofocus in a lightweight, durable design, making it highly versatile for various photography styles. Though pricey and with slight vignetting at f/1.4, it’s a top choice for those seeking premium performance in a compact 35mm lens.

It’s a substantial purchase for anyone but I was very pleased with what I’ve got for my money. 35mm is a very versatile focal length so I’ve been able to take photos of everything so far. And the sharpness of the lens I’m sure has allowed me to crop in a little more too. It’s also not huge and not too heavy. If you’re trying to go with a one-lens set-up as I am, and you want the best quality, look no further.

I bought this superb 35mm f1,4 GM sony lens on the 19th of January 2024 and found it to be very sharp corner to corner. Extremely proud to own it, Finally can shoot pro images.

Sharp and contrast lens

Doesn't have 3d pop and is a little expensive. Otherwise it's brilliant.

A wonderful all round performer. My main wedding shooter.

Long story short, this lens is permanently attached to my camera. For my needs, no matter what I’m doing or where I’m going, I know the 35mm will do the job beautifully.

Enough width for landscapes, perfect for street and travel, and low enough distortion for beautiful environmental portraits and product photography. The lens is close focusing and absolutely razor sharp.

If you want to call it a negative, the barrel is plastic but it’s high quality and very resistant to wear and impacts, more so than painted metal.

Sony have hit an absolute home run. This is an all-time great 35mm lens by anyone’s standards.

This is the first Sony prime lens I've owned, It's light, compact, performs superbly and the image results are fantastic, I've only used it in a studio at the moment, It will be my go to lens for street and location and travel photography.

My new best lens, great for portraits and general use. Loving it.

Pictures are sharp

I've been extremely impressed with this lens, sharp, fast focussing and beautiful rendering with great subject 'pop' and lovely bokeh. CA's are extremely well controlled. The only negative I can find is that there's very slight optical vignetting at the wide apertures, but it's well controlled and better than a lot of lenses.

Sharp at wide open from the centre to corners, it is the ideal standard lens; However, I love the 50mm as well; this 35mm allows portraits with an expansive view background while my 135mm focuses on the portrait narrowing the background to provide greater focus on the face.

Outstanding 35mm lens that truly delivers great optical quality for both photo and video. Small and lightweight it is a joy to shoot with all day. Great contrast and flare control with lightning fast auto focus, a must buy for any lover of this focal length.

Having studied several favourable reviews I purchased this lens for general purpose use ranging from travel, reportage and landscape to environmental portraiture and group portraiture. The image quality is outstanding, its speed in achieving focus on my A7iii is excellent, whilst its build quality is what you would expect for a G Master lens at the price point set. The aperture ring is a necessary feature for an aperture priority photographer like me. All in all very satisfied and I anticipate several years service from this professional standard lens.

Bought this lens to wander around cities and have a bit more fov than the amazing 50mm F1.2 that I also own. Definitely lives up to the GMaster badging. Its fast but not too bulky, and it actually works amazingly for mid range portraits too. A great buy.

It is really amazing lens - great colours, incredibly sharp optics, a fantastic fast prime that will help you nail the shot in the lowest of light, diversifiable for wide and close-ups, dedicated aperture ring, the only flaw is it is a bit slow autofocus performance in low light...still solid performance for normal light...ideal for semi-pro and pro videos and general cinematic look . Exceptional quality - get one now!
