pros: v good AF; good low light; nice & small;

cons: 2nd base ISO too high at 12000; fiddly controls; extremely expensive native batteries.

If I understand it, due to the lack of Bravia sinc, the camera cannot be controlled (record on/off) via DJI Focus Pro.

It is incomprehensible to me that the smaller brother fx3 supports this feature and therefore has support for Dji Focus pro as well. Even the older brother sony A7s II. Both are cheaper devices and have this feature I don't understand why sony can't add it to this camera as well.

FX6 toimii hyvin, kunhan jaksaa perehtyä kaikkiin asetuksiin. Suosittelen lämpimästi! Oikea elokuvakamera.

Incredible camera, beautiful image and super easy to use. Can’t complain about much with this camera.

The only thing I wish we had was a couple more options like we do with the little brother of the FX3, 120fps in a normal mode that’s not S&Q to gain audio and then being able to plug in a 3.5mm mic on the body! Otherthan that, sensational camera!

I bought this a month ago had only a few hours of testing and learning how the system works

And great results are achieved. I’ve always loved the outcome of this cam. I will be posting some clips online soon.

Amazing cinema camera it’s a great addition to my Sony fx3

At a budget friendly level professional video camera, this has all the bells and whistles that I'm after for the productions I work on and in a form that makes filming with it fluid.

I bought this a month ago but recently the HDMI port stopped working. Hopefully my warranty will cover the fixing.

This is one of the best purchases we have made to help grow our video production company.

The camera is great.

Our only feedback is that the body feels like it has mainly been made of some type of plastic. a few bits seem cheaply made but the overall performance really is unbeatable at this price point.

We are very happy with this purchase and would highly recommend it to anyone thinking about making a purchase!

It’s a great camera in all ways, however would benefit from image stabilisation like the fx3.

Loistava kamera oli kyse sitten yhden miehen tai useemman tuottannosta. Myös keveys yllätti positiivisesti: voit pitää järkkäritasolla setin painon tai rigata tän täyteen mitä tarviit. Sisäänrakennettusta ND filtteristä ei myöskään palata enään helpolla takasin - niin magee juttu!

I am delighted to have this powerful camera. I started making short films a few years ago, other cameras such as the Sony @7III, GH5, Ari Alexa...

But recently I saw some films which were made from the FX6 Cinema Line so I decided to get myself one of them, and I'm so happy that I did.

Siirryin Blackmagic leiristä osin Sonyyn noin kuukausi takaperin. Kun BM, Arri ja Red ovat logiikaltaan hyvin simppeleitä ilman hienouksia, poikkeaa FX6 niistä rajusti. Tässä pitkä listaus kokemuksista.

Slog tilassa kuvan laatu on odotetunlainen eli loistava. Opettelua vaativa tosin on dual base ISO, joka todella tarkoittaa sitä että käytössä on vain ISO 800 ja 12800. Eli muita ei käytettävissä vaan "gain" säädetään joko aukolla tai ND filtterillä. Tuo 12800 alkuun hirvitti, mutta nyttemmin päädyn todella usein kuvaamaan sillä.

Noise tai grain on muuten varjoissa kauniinpaa kuin missään aiemmin näkemässäni kamerassa, eli sitä ei todellakaan tarvitse pelätä.

Tuo sähköinen ND filtteri on aivan loistava, ja auto asetuksella toimii hyvin. Ominaisuudet hämärässä kuvaukseen ovat siis huikeat. Kennossa riittää valovoimaa todella pitkälle, ja näen että tämä kamera muuttaa omia käytäntöjäni kuvauspaikkojen valaisussa.

Suurimmat miinukset tulevat käytettävyydestä napeista ja valikoista. Nappien sijainti kyljessä ja kahvoissa on kohtuullisen hyvä, harmittavasti napit ovat pieniä, upotuksissa ja sormituntumalla oikeiden nappien löytäminen on haasteellista. Tämän luokan kamerassa olisin odottanut parempaa panostusta nappeihin ja tuntumaan. Säädettävä kahva oikealla on loistava. Mitoitus vaan ihmetyttää. Pienikätinen ei meinaa yltää suoraan kaikille napeille, mutta taas remmi on niin pieni että suurikätiselle ei meinää käsi sopia väliin. Kamera muuttuu todella herkästi etupainoiseksi eli säädettävä yläkahva ja jatkovarrellinen sivukahva olisivat olleet enemmänkin kuin tervetulleita. Valikot ovat yllä mainittuihin merkkeihin verrattuna sekavat, mutta mirrorles-kameramalleihin verrattuna kuitenkin paremmat.

Joidenkin mielestä kenno on jo vanhanaikainen, mutta mielestäni kenno on aivan loistava ja kestää vertailun myös 6K kilpailijoiden kanssa, kuvan laatu on loistava myös Super 35 modessa ja HD laadulla. S-Cinetone asetusta en voi kehua, en tiedä mitä siinä tapahtuu mutta "pikselin laatu" romahtaa Slog tilaan verrattuna.

Kodekki on Sonyn omaa käsialaa, käytössä XAVC I ja L. Ulkoisesti voi tallentaa ProRessiä. XAVC:n Laatu/koko vastaa ProRessiä mutta käsiteltävyys on heikompi.

Näyttö on pieni kosketusnäyttö, itse käytän lisänä lähes aina joko suurempaa näyttöä tai EVF:ää. Tässä suurin ongelma on että focus peaking tieto ei siirry ulkoiseen näyttöön ja FalseColor tilan puute. Kaksois Zebra osin ajaa saman asian, mutta on huomattavan kömpelö käyttää.

I fell in love with this camera the first time I saw it. And then it was only a question of when I will buy it. And I was. And I am more than happy that I own this camera. It is a wonderful tiny little camera with big compatibilities.

This camera is a dream to work with. Images are seamless between the FX6 and FX9 can take it places my FX9 can't go.

Olen käyttänyt kameraa noin viikon ja olen kyllä todella tyytyväinen valintaani ja kuinka paljon kamerassa on ominaisuuksia mitkä myös ullätti minut positiivisesti.

I recently filmed&directed an 8-part natural history series for Channel 5 and as the series required both actuality with ecologists and scientists as well as wildlife photography (macro and long lens) the FX6 proved to be the most versatile camera I have ever worked with. Its ability to capture cinematic documentary style sequences and be portable and light enough to trek into and out of the forest every day only served to make it even more attractive as a camera set up. The internal ND filters were brilliant in maintaining accurate exposure without the need for a matte box (a great help in difficult to film situations) and its ability to quickly switch from S&Q and Cache during wildlife filming to GVs and actuality-led sequences allowed for fast capture of scenes. It is especially impressive in low light environments. I used a variety of lenses throughout production across a wide range of brands (Canon, Tamron, Sony) and all worked exceptionally well with the FX6. The Sony wireless microphone system through the hot shoe mount helped to reduce the inconvenience of mounting two receivers and stripped down, the camera body was light enough to use on both a gimbal and slider effectively. A pretty remarkable little camera (that could). I was so impressed with its performance, latitude and picture quality, I purchased one after production wrapped!

Excellent image quality and ease of use. Terrible screen support, I ended up going the Zacuto route with excellent results and have stoped using my FS7 except for American jobs where I need to shoot NTSC which unfortunately the FX6 doesn’t really do. I would have paid double for the inclusion of a global shutter but overall I’m really happy and would hire a Venice for bigger jobs.

Please ad Cinematographer or DP or Lighting cameraman to your multiple choice job descriptions. Nobody likes being called a ‘ videographer’

I bought the FX6 about 6 months ago and it is a great camera. I guess the frustration is the amount of extortionately expensive extra bits you need to run it in a shoulder rig with V lock batteries, lens etc but once I got that sorted and added a Sony FE4 28-135 it created a great gun and run rig.producing super pictures.

A joy to operate.

No XLR on body, the weak monitor hinge and lack of the A7siii's autofocus being the only minor complains about an otherwise awesome camera.

Amazing professional quality from this simple to use camera.

I have been using my FX6 for almost a year now and Its almost perfect. so easy to use, Incredible face detection AF and that built in ND makes this a brilliant camera. I just wish there was an Audio Jack on the body, Maybe Sony can make an adapter from the handle connector?

A step up from my FS7 with much better colour and increased image quality

The FX6 was my first Cine camera having been shooting on the alpha series for 5 years.

Understandably using it the first time was a little daunting. So many features I hadn’t yet had experience with and also hearing reviews of the cluttered menu.

However within 48 hours I felt completely comfortable with shooting in various scenarios. With the help of the manual and a few YouTube videos I had learned how to navigate the menus and had customised the camera to suit my specific needs.

The camera is light, the focus system is reliable and the image quality is outstanding.

I’ve shot in both S-Log and Cinetone and results for both are fantastic.

I bigger viewfinder would make this camera perfect for my needs.
