Probably a great lens but i got a bad copy and the amount of time it takes to Sony to arrange anything when such thing happen is best to just return it back. It takes less time than waiting on emails for them to inspect. Used with 2 cameras full frame and yet not single sharp picture with different settings.

Bought for my A7r Iva. Excellent sharpness at all focal lengths and at centre and corners of the frame.Very effective image stabilisation and well balanced on the camera. Can hand hold, despite size.

Controls are very smooth and zoom ring has a short throw, making it easy to pull zoom on a subject. Like the internal zoom , makes it better balanced and less unwieldy than if the lens extended whilst zooming.

Build quality is very nice and the ergonomics are good.

I find that this lens represents excellent value for its quality and ability.

Used twice now in one month, apart from test shots.

Excellent lens great results. Fast autofocus, sharp results to the edge, great range and not too slow - in the summer anyway.

It does need a tripod or monopod to take the strain and help with reducing camera shake.

Omistan ennestään pelkästään GM-laseja Sonylta. Ehkä siksikin olin pitkään hankkimatta tätä linssiä. Harrastan luontokuvausta, mutta lintuja en olllut ennen vakavissani kokeillut, mitä nyt 70-200:llla joskus jotain. Kuvittelin, että kunnollinen lintukuvaus onnistuu vain piilokojusta. Onneksi tulin hankkineeksi 200-600:n, koska se muutti monia käsityksiäni. Joo, se ei ole GM, ja varmasti kymmenkertaistamalla hinnan saa myös lisää optista laatua. Olin myös tottunut kuvaamaan ISO 100:lla, minkä saa tietenkin heittää romukoppaan kun valovoima on 6.3 ja tarvitaan vähintään 1/500s suljinnopeus. Olen nyt huomannut, että korkeammat ISO-arvot ovat ihan ok.

Hetken mietin, olisiko pitänyt hankkia kalliimpi Sigman 300-600. Mutta onneksi en hankkinut, sillä melkein kaikissa kilpailevissa vaihtoehdoissa on metrin pidempi lyhin tarkennusetäisyys. Olen kuvannut paljon alle kolmen metrin päästä. Se jää tekemättä myös 600/4:llä.

Minulle on tullut sellainen asenne, että tämä linssi on ’valmiiksi himmennetty’. Tarkoitan tällä sitä, että kuvaan mielelläni täydellä aukolla ja olen miettimättä mahdollista kuvanlaadun paranemista jos vähän himmentäisi. Käytän suljinajan esivalintaa ja auto ISO:a, jolloin aukko on käytännössä aina täysi 6.3. Se tuntuu olevan oikein sopiva 600-milliselle. Ja 600-millisenä lasi melkein koko ajan on.

I purchased about 6weeks aho and have used it seversl times.

I am very plesded with the results.

The only down side for me being a large lens I need is tripod. Great for hide work.

Really amazed at the clarity of the few shots taken so far.

I bought this lens a week ago and it’s not been updated ff my camera since. Outstanding lens with superb build quality and lens resolution. My go to lens for wildlife photography.

Great lens from Sony great service nothing is to difficult

I bought this lens a couple of weeks ago and I am so glad I did. I have been blown away by both the quality of the images produced and how exact and intuitive the controls are. There is enough resistance to not feel 'sloppy' but not so much that there's a jerk or snap point as you vary the zoom or focus. I love it!

Never owned a large zoom so took the plunge and pleased so far

I recently bought this lens to photograph wildlife in 2026, i also bought the Sony A7V when it was launched to pair to this lens to benefit the tracking and up to 30 FPS.

The optical stabilisation is incredible and for me the weight is ideal to handhold, the internal zoom is also great for stability.

I only bought this lens after Christmas, so only used it a few times , but love it so far, and it has encouraged me to get out and see the world around me in a different way.

Fantastic lens for the cost. An all rounder for sports/wildlife.

As expected I found the lens fast focusing when using my A7Cii and my A7CR. It has the reach i need in one of the most compact forms. I successfully shot birds and even the moon. Combine with a 2x tellconverter the reach is impressive. I did replace the foot for a third party alternative but apart from that I fully recommend this lens.

The best birding lens on the market, great glass, internal zone, consistent focus and image quality and value for money.

The ability of the lens to focus when hand held at 600mm is amazing. I have added this lens for use with an A7 mk iv and and use it not only for planned outings (usually using a tripod) but also for opportunities as and when.

So glad I purchased this lens. Absolutely amazing quality and quality of shots is outstanding. Had made my photography of animals and wildlife look professional. Best buy if the year!
