V good sound bar for the price but be aware a HDMI 2.1 cable is needed for arc/ears to work

Great soundbar for a medium sized room and packs punch from the lows to the mid but somewhat lacks in the higher ranges, which is noticeable in certain films but also not too bad for music, if you like the lower tones.

However I kind of wish it also had Apple HomeKit

The sound is of impressive quality, across a range of different programmes, and especially so if you are used to inbuilt TV speakers. Connectivity to the TV is less satisfactory. HDMI connection is intermittent and unpredictable, to the point where it is unusable. One therefore has to fall back on WiFi or optical connections, both of which function OK. The Universal Control facility, whereby the TV remote is supposed to be able to operate the soundbar as well, also regularly drops out and has to be reset. These problems might be related to the TV rather than the soundbar but, given that our TV is a 2021 model LG OLED, we were simply not anticipating connectivity issues of this nature.

For the price, it does exactly what it’s supposed to. Works well with all Dolby Atmos content, is perfect for a family TV environment.

excellent audio, just need to change functions to suit what you are watching. I find the movie mode works well, audio is clear, words are clear and bass is amazing. Really deep bass

Amazing sound bar works great this is my 3rd lg soundbar and all of mine work amazing this is probably the best one I've got love the sound out of it.

Before buying the soundbar, I read a LOT of information and reviews about it. I was sure that it would be the perfect addition to my home cinema, but due to its high cost, I needed to experience it for myself. I was fortunate to have listened to the soundbar with its subwoofer in-store. From a variety of music genres to movie trailers, the immersive audio was impressive.

When played in my living room, the overall performance of both Dolby Atmos and DTS:X allows my 4K movies to come to life! I have found that the 'Movie' mode works perfectly in my environment; the sound is truly breathtaking. My husband (who has hearing difficulties) is particularly pleased with this unit's superb vocal clarity.

I have read where some have questioned the sound quality of this device. When it was set to our personal preference, it delivered the goods! If you are looking to add a level of awesomeness to your home cinema, look no further. This soundbar is certainly great value for money.

good sound bar, but sound levels differ depending on what iam watching. for example if i watch terrestrial tv or virgin media the volume level has to be alot higher than if i stream music from my phone or watch tv via an app like prime or netflix. i dont know why this is iam using the sound bar with a new lg qled tv using the recommended connection (arc). the volume ranges from 1-32 but i cant hear anything under 5. The soundbar does enhance the sound output for sure but there was no wow factor, i did expect a little more than i got.

Better than expected, bought as a replacement for an LG DPL 5.1 system as fed up with the space taken up and wires, I loved the sound of the old system & was worried the soundbar wouldn’t compete, what a shock it’s so much better! Well worth the change, it’s actually an upgrade

So easy to set up, compared to my last well known brand 5 years ago.

The more I use this sound bar the more it impresses me.

First of all it was super easy to set up, then a quick change of some settings on my TV and Xbox and it was ready to go.

Watching TV shows and playing games just sound amazing, the sub is incredible too, literally feels like your in a cinema.

I couldn’t be happier with this purchase, I’m not saying this is the best sound bar out there, but for what I paid, it’s amazing.

The set up documentation could be clearer. I am very techy but found the set up confusing with regards to bluetooth and wireless and the HDMI ARC cabling. However, I got there in the end. The sound is brilliant using ARC and Dolby ATMOS and using as a stand-alone speaker via bluetooth to play radio/music is stunning. Very pleased with the purchase. It compliments my recent purchase of the LG 55" Smart TV perfectly.

Great sound and tech. Wish there was a bit more use of the screen but other than that it’s great.

I should have given 5 stars for this product but the packaging was bad, at delivery the packaging was cellotaped in a manner that makes it looked like used or repackaged. Since I have 2 soundbar delivered same day Bose and LG I decided to try both and I really like the LG. It gave me mostly what I want from a Soundbar cinematic experience when you watch TV, good and clear voice when listening to news. The only thing that need improvement is the software provided, if you are not a lover of google home, then you are left with no useful update to the Soundbar.

compliments the lg tv.just switch on tv & sound bar switches on .dont use volume on tv .made more room in my room as not got speakers everywear.

Great sounding unit, had one or two issues understanding set up, but once set up impressive sound.

Good deep, thumping sound, especially for movies. Pretty much unequalled format support.

If you want the perfect companion to your tv it’s right here, bring your movies to life especially on Netflix or even the sport in Sky.

Ostin tämän, kun sattuu tarjouksessa olemaan hyvään hintaan. Elokuvilla soundbar toimii ihan ok hyvin, ehkä ylöspäin suunnatut kaiuttimet voisi olla tehokkaammat. Musiikille en tuotetta suosittele, keskiäänet on kadoksissa ja subbari ei oikeen musiikille sovi. Harmi, että takakaiuttimet ei sisällä ylöspäin suunnattuja elementtejä jolla saisi enemmän ääntä ylhäältä päin. Lisäksi etäisyys ei saa karata paljon yli 2 metrin, koska ylhäältä tulevat äänet häviävät miltei olemattomaksi. Lisäksi olisin toivonut jotain kalibrointi ohjelmaa, jolla saisi soundbarin toimimaan omassa haastavassa huoneessani. Ihan ok ostos 300 euron hintaan, mutta ei tällä erillisiä kaiuttimia voi korvata mitenkään.

Laitoin aluksi Philipsin soundbarin, jota testailin muutaman päivän. Päädyin kuitenkin vaihtamaan tähän LG:n soundbariin ja olen kyllä ollut tosi tyytyväinen. Lähti heti helposti toimimaan, design on mielestäni kohdillaan ja materiaalit ovat laadukkaita sekä tehoja löytyy hyvin.

The SL8YG produces a really good sound and integrates well with my LG TV.

It has beautiful clarity when I play music from my iPhone through it via Bluetooth.

However it does lack volume. Quite often American TV programmes do not have the volume or clarity of British programmes and the sound bar struggles. For the price the sound bar should be able to produce a much greater sound to compensate

Wow, amazing sound quality from this sound bar. Occasionally I have to mute to check if the sound is from the tv or outside it’s that good!
