The product itself is great like new and working well unfortunately there is a piece missing so not able to do all areas of the body

I have been using the Philips Lumea device for over a year now, following the recommended schedule and using it regularly. Unfortunately, instead of seeing any improvement, my hair growth has actually become worse. The hairs have become thicker and more noticeable, and the results are far from what the product promises.

I am very disappointed because I invested a lot of time and trust in this device, expecting long-term reduction of hair growth. Instead, I ended up with the opposite effect. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this product.

I've not been routinely using this so far, I'm yet to get into a pattern with it but am noticing a difference in regrowth and would go as far to say regrowth has become patchy. I haven't found it painful to use and just need to remember to dedicate the time to do it.

Could not recommend this product more to be honest! I’m 20(turning 21 on Saturday!) and I was diagnosed with polycystic ovaries a while back. I had extremely dark AND thick facial hair, going from the bottom of my neck all the way up to my lower lip, side burns and top lip. I honestly felt like a man, it was awful. My confidence was so bad and my self worth was even lower. I bought this machine about 1 year ago and honestly I haven’t been as consistent with it as I probably should be, but my god, the difference! Hand on my heart, I only have hair grow on my chin, and it’s much thinner than it used to be, my confidence has shot up so much, I actually feel like a woman again.

As a woman living with PCOS and facial hair, this has been a life changer! I've gone from having to shave daily to having to shave every few days and it has only been my 4th use.

Extremely happy with the product, easy to use and takes 10 minutes. Very little pain as well.

I would recommend this product to anyone who can afford it It’s not cheap but it is super effective. Ive got olive skin and very dark hair and normally have to shave my underarms every two days. After three uses I’m down to minimal hair growth every fortnight a full body treatment takes me about 15 minutes every fortnight and it’s not painful to use.

I used this infrequently, but was impressed when I did use it. Halfway through my last session, it made a loud pop noise and now won’t work. Certainly nowhere near the 250,000 flashes! I am so disappointed, I will not be replacing it!

Have come out with a horrid histamine reaction from this IPL. The worst unsightly itch you’ve ever seen. The hair loss is as expected but at this cost it’s just not worth it. Happens every time.

I have a lumea that I purchased in 2011. So easy to use but the battery life became short and I wanted a replacement to keep on top of all those years of hard work! I purchased this one and used it on my legs and under arms for the first time today. I’ve found that it doesn’t always make contact with skin first time so I’m readjusting it and it can take a few attempts. Even when I use the small attachment on my underarms, it’s a struggle. Such a shame because I have no doubt that this device is probably more advanced than my old device. It’s just time consuming and I am in a position to compare because this is my second lumea. 🤞let’s hope it was worth the struggle !

I just yesterday completed my 4th session which is recommended as the final Treatment before reducing treatments to every four weeks and entering ‘maintenance’ phase. I have been treating my underarms, lower legs & bikini area, my upper legs only ever grow fine blonde hair so no need & isn’t ideal for the treatment to work anyway!

After my 2nd session, I saw a noticeable difference in my underarms. I usually have to shave my underarms every day/every other day but the regrowth was much slower. After the 3rd session I noticed the regrowth was patchy & slower so a big difference & am hopeful after my 4th that the results get even better! (Have attached a photo which is the regrowth after 1 week of shaving at this stage). I have noticed the hairs on my lower legs are growing back much finer & I even think they may have changed colour slightly and are not as dark! The regrowth is definitely slower here too! My bikini area still had all of the hairs growing back so not a massive change although & I do think the regrowth is slower than before IPL! I have done some reading and because the hairs are generally tougher/thicker here, more treatments might be needed before seeing a strong change! Which makes sense.

FYI - After my 4th session yesterday, my legs have come out in a bumpy rash which initially worried me but after some research this can be a normal reaction. Have attached a photo for reference!

The device itself is easy to use (I’d only wish that the ‘flash window’ was a little bigger or could be adjusted to be bigger for treatment of the legs-it takes a while to do just my lower legs and it’s difficult to see/know if you’ve treated the whole area!! I use my finger to mark it all out but still find it difficult. For anyone treating their upper legs too it would take a long time I think). The instructions are fairly straightforward and the app is a fab way to track treatments and give you advice for pre treatment, during treatment and after treatment! I do all of my treatments in one go on a Sunday & I have noticed that the device sort of shuts down/goes into standby which I can only imagine is due to it overheating & switching off and leaving to cool seems to fix it! Really frustrating when you’re midway through an area and you don’t want to lose track of where you have treated so I’d recommend splitting your treatments up!

Overall, I wasn’t expecting miracles and I understand that it’s not a permanent hair removal method! I do think the device is quite expensive & it does take some time to treat all areas so it’s only worth the money if you stick to the schedule & are willing to invest that time! Also, salon IPL is so much more expensive! I am more than happy with the purchase, I am confident that by continuing the treatment every 2 weeks for another 1/2 sessions will mean I will be shaving less & that’s a bonus right? Especially for holidays when I’m usually shaving daily causing razor irritation!

Painful and don't work a totally wasted of time and money

It is a good purchase, I have tried 2 times the results are satisfying.

I bought this product after getting fed up of having to shave my legs everyday because the hair would grow back super quick. I am pale and have black thick hair which should be the perfect skin /hair type for this product. Been using it for 10 weeks now but the hairs still grow back after 2/3 days. Yes there has been a slight reduction and it has slowed down the growth but nothing like the advertised 100% hair free. I’ve tried it on other areas like my arms, armpits too to see if results would vary but I am not hair free anywhere. Quite disappointed as after reading all the reviews I really though this product would be what makes my life easier.

I have used the product every 2 weeks as directed. There is definitely less hair there, and what is there takes slightly longer to grow back, however it's definitely not yet at the point of "hair free for up to 12 months". I am however still at the beginning, so this may improve further. Product arrived on time.

I've been thinking of buying a lumia product for quite a while but I'm glad I finally did so. I love the safety feature where the laser can only be used when it's in full contact with the skin, the fact that the app is great, the settings are super easy to navigate. I would highly recommend. The only thing I have found, but not sure how it could be solved, is when I use it on my legs, I don't know where I've already lasered plus it's easy to stray from the straight line youre trying to keep to. Other than that a really great product in my opinion

Spent a lot of money in this for it to go bang and stop working after a short period of use.

I considered rating this product is because you can have salon results from the comfort of your own home it works wonders and the results are amazing this product was recommended to me by a friend and am happy I purchased this item

Extraordinary results for dark shades of hair on white skin but when to expect something for blonde hair and maybe darker skin?

Anyway it really works if you respect the recommended treatment as per app.

After 6 sessions every 2 weeks no hair at all underarm and less in other areas like bikini line and legs.

So glad I bought it. I saw immediate results. It does take longer to treat than stated when actually using it on different parts of your body, but it’s worth it in the longer term. I have a low pain threshold so in some parts it did hurt me - I just lowered the setting to manage it. Initially it only heated up once and I had to turn it off, but I was able to reuse it after a minute. After using the device around 8 times, the cooling recovery time is longer, so you do have to wait for around 4/5 mins to allow it to cool down. It happens about 2/3 times in a large area (e.g half a leg).

But overall, I would recommend this product, it’s great and I should have bought it sooner.
