An almost perfect pocket camera for on the go. Simple on screen menu , easy to navigate and more than reasonable results. A very good reason to keep the phone in your pocket and the camera in your hand. Excellent value at this price range.

I bought this camera for its size and it has turned out to be excellent. It feels well made and the menus are fairly logically laid out. The focus tracking is superb, and the results from the large sensor are really good and what I expected.

The only downside I've found so far is the touch screen only works on focusing etc. If you want to change anything else it has to be done manually. I expect Sony could fix this with a firmware update but doubt they will.

Come on Sony, step up and fix it!

I got this camera a few weeks ago, as a camera for my travels, due to being a good compact size and weight, with the 18-135mm F3.5-5.6 lens, which has proved adequate for my photography. The controls on the camera are well laid out, though I had to figure out why the focus point keep jumping away from where I placed it when focusing on subject, and I have since figured this out via videos on You Tube. So it is early days for me with this great camera and I enjoy using it.

I was looking at an additional camera to use in place of the Nikon D780, when not needing the Nikon and I chose the a6400 for it's compact size and 18-135mm lens. I like the build quality and the quality of the images it takes. I look forward to taking great images with it as I am still learning the menu and controls at the moment!

I bought this camera two weeks ago and the first photos and video were excellent; really pleased with the quality. I have spent the last two weeks learning how to set it up to get the best out of it. The 18-135 F3.5/F5.6 works well with the camera.

I bought this as a more compact alternative to my Fujifilm XT-1. Previously my second camera was a Leica X1 which had a fabulous lens albeit fixed , but some of the controls were easily knocked out of place. I bought a used a6000 for my little granddaughter to start off in photography and was so impressed I thought I would get myself an A6400 so we could share lenses. The a6400 hasn't disappointed and I'm sure once I get used to the menu's it will be great. I do a lot of sports photography and tried the a6000 out at a rugby match with the kit telephoto which came with the a6000. I was extremely impressed especially as the camera was so light compared to the Fuji. My intention is to use the fuji when the weather is bad as it is fully weather sealed(body and lenses). I will use the Sony in better weather and for Summer cricket and street photography where the light weight will be a bonus. I'm very impressed with build quality and positive control functions.

I bought this to replace an aging Canon M10. The a6400 is a massive step up in every way; enough hardware controls to do everything I need quickly and without having to use a screen, great image quality and (to me, at least) astonishingly fast and accurate autofocus. I also love that this camera is weather sealed and feels like it could withstand getting hit by a tank.

I bought this camera about a month ago, so these are just initial comments without a great deal of use. Let's get the single dislike out of the way. The placement of the SD card beggars belief. These cards have a small indentation at the bottom of the card on one side so that you can use a fingernail to help extracting it. When installed, the orientation of the card means that the indentation is covered. To get the card out, you have to point the base of the camera downwards and hope that the spring eject throws the card out. Grunt over.

I bought the camera to replace a bridge camera that I found too big and cumbersome and wanted something that would be, potentially, pocketable. The camera is exactly what I wanted. A small, relatively lightweight camera that is capable of taking good photos (in the right hands). To say that the features are comprehensive is an understatement and I'm still in the process of familiarising myself with them. Once I feel comfortable and confident with its performance, my plan is to add a macro or short zoom lens (maybe both) to add to the kit lens that came with the camera.

Overall, I'm really pleased with my purchase. I'd spent some time researching the options that suited my criteria and the A6400 kept on coming to the top of the list. I bought the camera from a local retailer (WEX, Norwich) and I left feeling confident that I would not be disappointed.

Looking forward to getting out and about with the camera without getting shoulder ache.

Not keen on Heath Robinson movable screen - bit untidy and limiting

Bought the camera just before Christmas. The camera is great and takes some fantastic photos even with the Kit lens. I would have given the camera 5 stars, but the issue is uploading the photos on the software which is far from simple, especially when compared with my Canon R5 MKII

I bought this as my first camera even though it’s not the newest version but still works so gooooood. It’s nice to have this as your first camera and getting to know settings of photography

I bought this recently returning to Sony mirrorless camera having previously owned a Sony A6000 before

Great improvement to my old A58, it should hopefully help me rediscover my love of taking photos. The autofocus is good, quick. The ability to set custom buttons is also very useful.

Outstanding camera with a wealth of features, too long a list to mention but the adjustable display screen is the outstanding feature. Superb in bright sunlight and very flexible with the ability to use it at different angles. A pleasant surprise as I didn't realise it had that feature, I assumed the screen was fixed as on my older camera. The best thing about the camera itself, apart from the excellent build quality, is the ability to take outstanding photos even in auto mode, perfect for the quick snapshot and perfect for people like myself who are not experts with the wealth of features available.

Only gripe is the software could be a little more intuitive. The Creators Cloud app isn't available for this camera and manually transferring your photos by memory card still seems to be the easiest way to do it, which sems strange in 2026 unless I'm missing a trick.

It's a very good cam. I shoot it with low light it's not a bad. Worth for this price

I'm brand new to the photography world, and it's something I've always wanted to get into, so I decided that 2026 would be the year I finally pursue it as a new hobby. After doing some research and visiting my local camera shop, I settled on the Sony A6400. It's a beautiful camera with a great weight to it, and while the menu system is initially quite detailed, it's surprisingly intuitive once you spend a bit of time with it. Ergonomically, it feels great in the hand, and it's very easy to start shooting right away.

I managed to get a great deal on the A6400 with the 16–50mm kit lens, which is perfect for learning the basics and experimenting with different kinds of shots. So far, I'm really impressed with the features, the image quality, and how user-friendly the whole setup is.

My first 'real' camera. Really nice piece of equipment. Takes beautiful photos. The buttons and menus are very easy to navigate and use. I would definitely recommend this camera to anyone wanting to take a step into photography.

I am new in here and i feel like its the best camera to start

I recently bought the Sony a6400, and it completely changed my photography game. The image quality is stunning, autofocus is lightning-fast, and the colors are so natural straight out of the camera. As a beginner, I found it easy to use, yet it still offers professional-level control. A perfect all-rounder for street, portrait, and travel photography.
