The SX740 images looked like the model was very similar to the SX620 and had higher zoom capabilities. But it is larger and thicker. It is heavier. The only plus is the 40x zoom and the screen (so you can take selfies). I wanted another pocket sized, point and shoot camera like my SX620 (with 25x zoom) but getting a 620 has been impossible. I bought it, so I'd have a replacement when my 620SX started losing pixels. This is a perfect camera for anyone that wants a point-and-shoot camera with an excellent zoom. It's not a 'pocket' camera like the SX620, but it's a good, easy to use camera that can save important moments.

What an amazing camera! Small in size but massive in tech and quality.

Have for too long been subject to problems with my significant other when going away as my cabin bag would be my camera equipment. This beauty has made my life easier again.....amazing zoom, useful stabilisation and basically in a pocket!

I bought this Canon SX740 HS Lite Edition primarily as a replacement for my trusty SX730 HS that I have been using intensively since it was bought in December 2018 and has taken thousands of images in that time.

As a replacement for my SX730, I was well aware of the pros and cons of the existing camera and was sure that the new SX740 would be a more than suitable replacement for myself as a keen amateur photographer with a wide spectrum of interests over various subject matters.

The massive zoom (up to 960mm) is much more that I need for most applications but gives plenty of leeway where necessary and to all intents, the camera lived up to my expectations with one exception and that was the maximum ISO when being used in TV (Shutter Priority) mode. On the SX730HS in fast shutter speed / low light situations, the ISO in auto mode could be 1250 or even 1600, however with the SX740HS Lite Edition this is restricted to a maximum ISO of 800. (Note that manual ISO setting up to 3200 are available however) While the higher ISO does introduce an element of "noise" to the images, for some of my subject matter this was of less importance than being able to shoot in certain ambient light situations.

For that reason, I've knocked off one star off what I consider to be an all round good camera but otherwise I expect it to be a worthy long term replacement for my SX730HS.

I bought this camera to take to australia for my family wedding. When i got there, i tried using the camera but the flash wouldnt work. Travelling to the other side of the world for a professional cameta not to be working is an embarassment. We now dont have any professional images of the wedding and i blame canon for this.

Purchased recently and still getting used to. It has no eye-piece view finder and is difficult to use as I have poor eyesight. Also wish it had a users manual - online version is very hard to read and to long to print. Could we have an option to buy a hard copy please?

I bought this camera and was so exited, but from start it did not work at all. It was completely broken inside or something. Green stripes all over the screen and stuff. I had to return.

Kamera on hyvän kokoinen ja mahtuu helposti laukkuun tai takin taskuun eikä paina liikaa, joka on juuri hyvä varsinkin jos tykkää käydä paljon konserteissa tai vastaavissa. Flipattava näyttö ja hyvä salama ovat loistavat varsinkin, kun ottaa kuvia kavereiden kanssa! Kuvien hyvä laatu yllätti minut :)

Yksi ominaisuus, mitä etsin kamerassa oli kuvien jakaminen bluetoothilla tai wifillä, joka tästä kamerasta löytyy, mutta jonka kanssa minulla on ollut pieniä vaikeuksia (kuvien jakaminen on kuitenkin onnistunut).

Everywhere I looked it was out of stock. After several weeks to find someone selling this camera at the appropriate price rather than inflated for refurb from Japan, Canon had them back in stock. Without hesitation I purchased and have been amazed at the quality and the features. A very happy customer!!

I have mirrorless system with several lenses and it gives me great results. However, it doesn't fit in my pocket. (Not a Cannon, sorry.)

I studied the available compacts and decided that this Cannon was the one for me and I have been very satisfied with its performance.

The long zoom lens is great for getting close to various wildlife I see when dog walking and the macro is superb for getting up close and personal with bugs, flies and flowers.

I have the Cannon app on my iPad and downloading photos by wifi is the easiest I have encountered.

The controls are a bit fiddly, but then, it is a compact camera.

Easy to use wonderful photos intuitive

I bought this camera around a month ago for travelling around Thailand. Its one if the best purchases I've made from it being so compact and easy to set up. The camera is small so it's a perfect on the go digital camera. The quality is amazing and it's made super easy to transfer pictures onto your mobile device thanks to the Bluetooth feature. Overall I'm super happy with my new camera and can't recommend it enough.

Used for the 1st time at the Midlands Air Festival, got some really great pictures of the Red Arrows using the motion setting.

Bought the little Sx740 as on paper it sounded good, nice zoom range and I already have owned 8 Canon cameras. How wrong I was. The zoom range is pretty much useless. Just like the quality when you zoom on your phone, I would say half the zoom range looked like it was digital rather than optical. Very disappointed

Short delivery time

I bough this for popping in my rucksack when I go cycling, or occasionally to use for street photography. It has a chunky, comfortingly heavy feel to it, but can be slipped in a jacket pocket. Quality of images at the lower focal range are very good, and more than acceptable at the extreme ends. It's perfectly usable for landscape, nearby wildlife, travel, street photography, portraits and pets. I have other Canon cameras, but this one is useful to pick up casually and drop in a pocket, particularly if I don't really know what type of photography I'll plump for on the day. A splendid all-rounder, I would recommend it for general, casual photography.

Canon meni poistamaan Luovan otoksen, jossa kamera otti automaattisesti kuusi erilaista kuvaa yhdellä napin painalluksella. Tyhmin ja huonoin päätös ikinä. Nyt tilalla joku "ruoka kuva", joka ominaisuus hoitui jo ennenkin korostetut värit toiminnolla.

Päivitin kameran 720hs -> 740hs malliin, ja nyt 740hs malli on täysin käyttämätön tuon ominaisuuden poiston vuoksi.
