Still incredible in 2025.
Bought in 2017 and still using in 2025. Yes you can get burn-in if you're not careful, but I looked after mine and it's still better than any non-OLED tv. LG offer great customer service too.
Picture to die for - sound to cry for
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Picture ss stunning as expected sound is poor - you need to invest in a sound bar as well
A first class LG OLED??? Not quite.
This is a classic, mid sized, OLED TV with all of the connectivity you might expect in this price range.
After a few years of moderate use it has fallen foul of the dreaded image retention issue that has plaqued early OLEDS.
Overall the image quality and resolution has been fantastic but this has been marred by this image burn in.
Screen Burn In
Worked ok for a while, the sound quality is poor. But picture quality is good. However after a while the screen will suffer from Burn in.
Pixel burnout
After two years pixel burnout, same as many other reviews. Giving up on oled and buying micro lcd.
Expensive for a TV who's screen only lasts 2 year
When new colors are just amazing.
After 2 years, Red wears out in the center of the screen.
Quickly later heavy burn out marks shows up.
Green hue in center of screen
I have this TV. It was good for about 2 years after that a green hue in centre of the screen. Mostly on skin tones and when there is something yellow. Also Netflix logo burn in after this. Not recommended.
Superb TV
I bought this because of picture and sound quality
Was perfect - ruined by burn in
I purchased this TV in 2018 and for a couple of years considered it a superb product, expensive but worth it for the amazing picture. However As someone that watches football, Sky Sports, Sky Sports News, and BBC News the TV has developed the dreaded burn-in.
It is incredibly disappointing that a TV that costs so much can develop this fault. Prior to OLED, every TV or monitor I purchased came with the same warning about burn in, but none have suffered from it. It's disappointing to learn that for OLED's the only solution is to not watch certain TV channels, which pretty much defeats the purpose of owning a TV, especially with the football broadcast in UHD these days.
As a brand I still recommend LG, but not their OLED unless you're going to use it strictly for a cinema room, but that's a very niche target audience. For anyone that uses the TV and watches news channels, or any channel that has a static ticker, or logo, avoid OLED.
Please see attached image for the burn in.
Ratings:
Features 4/5 - At the time it was 5/5 but for today it's missing things like, Google Assitant, Apple Homekit, Alexa etc.
Performance 1/5 - This would be 4/5 losing a point because I've had issues with the HDMI Arc dropping out when connected to my Bose Sound Bar, discovered this only happens when all HDMI ports are in use, so I always keep one unplugged, which is annoying when I want to use the unplugged device. I dropped it a further 3 points because of the burn in issue appearing after only 2 years of ownership. That is simply unacceptable performance.
Design 4/5 - Great looking TV, minor gripes 1) lack of handle holds for safely manoeuvring the TV into position, 2) position of ports on the side, bit too close to the edge, and power cable being on opposite side make it a pain for running the cables.
Quality 1/5 - Purely for the burn in issue - otherwise I'd have difficulty faulting the quality.
Value 1/5 - Again due to the burn in issue occurring so quickly this cannot be deemed good value.
Great picture, but sound issues
I bought this set around 4 years ago, and the picture quality is superb. The one (very annoying!) issue I have is that the sound randomly goes off for about a second, probably on 2 or 3 occasions in an evening. I initially thought that this issue would disappear when I bought an Onkyo Amp and Sound bar, but it still does it! More recently, and just on Netflix, the sound sometimes 'comes and goes' so much that it becomes unwatchable.
Excellent TV, one drawback
Three years of what can only be described as perfect viewing but have recently noticed screen burn. I'm not a gamer or have the TV on one channel. Normal usage. There is discolouration in the centre area where yellow's look green. I'm told not covered by warranty as its a natural process of the "organic " LEDs.
Other than the "burn" issue the TV is an awesome piece of kit.
Avoid OLED at all cost
In 4 years already replaced 2 times the screen. Justice beeing made, LG took responsability for both but it took me almost 2 years to replace last one claimming i had it on abbusive display, like in a store... (???)
I'm extremelly carefull with the picture definitions (brightneed for example) allways do a pixel refresh when the TV is turned off and other but, I'm almost shure it will happen a 3rd time.
Can LG swap my equipment for one that actually lasts at least 5 years, is it asking a lot?
Kind Regards from Portugal
Nuno
This TV was completely RUINED by burn in
Such terrible panel ! I've serious about technology and keeping it clean and looked after is a top priority for me. However burn in has been unavoidable within the first moth of regular usage, completely useless. I really wanted to like this TV but now I've had to live with horrific burn in for nearly 4 years.
ahead of all the competition by far
bought this tv as a birthday to present to self, after reading rave reviews and i was not disappointed.
picture clarity and image depth fantastic, audio range fantastic
if you are looking for a tv to watch 4k movies and iplayer content(4k) on , you will not go wrong with this choice.
5***** tv
Picture burn-in
Bought this sleek, beautiful, versatile TV because of its picture quality. After two years of daily use, after work from 4pm to say 10pm it started showing severe burn-in. Here in Finland they seem to add subtitles on most movies, even Finnish ones. So the result can be seen on the picture I'll attach.
This was no cheap piece of art so I expexted way better experience. Can't say I love this tv set but can't find a better one easily.
Small internal speakers; but great display
We have this TV for three years now and it's been great overall. The only issue for me is that the internal speakers aren't the best and I can understand why; given the flatness of the TV and only a small section at the back for the internal components and speakers. So; this is a great TV; but you will need an external sound bar to get the full experience.
Problems
I have had my tv for about 3years, rec I have noticed when there are say 3 faces on the screen, then the middle face is discoloured
OLED 55 B7V
Great TV, however, after 2 years I have a green strip running around the edge of the screen. Currently being fixed by LG at a cost as it is just out of warranty.
Ongelma jatkuu edelleen 2021 alussa. Ja uudella modeemillakin.
Great TV
This is a very good TV, great picture, I just couldn't fault it.
No freeview play
Aftrer already having an older 55" L.G. smart TV when I wanted another I went for the latest model expecting the same great Item but I was to be disapointed The one feature that I use a lot is not availiable instead there are a lot of absolutly usless apps. I am not very pleased.
SCREEN BURN! AVOID
OLED is shockingly poor because it is very susceptible to screen burn. Avoid at all costs!
Decent Picture and spec but suffers burn-in!
Despite taking all reasonable precautions, I now have to put up with permanent image retention. The appropriate settings to supposedly stop this have all been applied since initial configuration yet very clear burn-in has occurred. I even have friends/ family who I suggested should buy LG units that have subsequently purchased and I’m fearful that their units will do the same which will be very embarrassing on my part having referred them in the first place. I’ll have to put up with it now as I can’t afford to replace it barely after 2 yrs of ownership. I spent a lot of money to be an early adopter of OLED and feel let down to be honest.
Screen Burn
Less than 2 years old and been told it has screen burn, and this is not covered in the guarantee.
