Philips Cher HUE -älyriippuvalaisin, valkoinen

I had been thinking of getting in to the Philips Hue range for a while now, considering its integration with Google Home (which I love!), so finally plumped for this pendant lamp.

I think it looks great, very understated, and the Dimmer that's included is very good. The 4 light 'recipes' can be cycled through Relax, Read, Energise and Concentrate or simply switched on, off, or dimmed up and down.

The Easy of Use rating applies solely to the installation - being Hue the normal usage is a doddle.

However, the screws on the internal cable clamp are dreadful - I came close to returning the product before even getting it on the ceiling!

The screws fitted are the 'Torq' style anti-tamper screws - quite ridiculous. I do have a set of these, so that shouldn't have been a problem, but I would think most people don't - the manual suggests they are Philips cross-headed screws.

However, the screw heads were soft, and quickly stripped, so the Torq driver simply rotated in the head - quite useless.

I got the screws out with a pair of pliers, and replaced them with M3 x20mm standard machine screws (the ones supplied were also too short, really - they made it very difficult to get the cord in the clamp loose enough while staying together. I know, because I initially replaced them with M3 x 10mm before giving up in frustration and buying some longer screws!)

So a great product, let down by a shoddy internal clamp - stupid really: somebody at Philips must look into this
