Good camera with sharp pictures when it can focus on the target properly, but the problem with many of these types of cameras are that you need to manually focus on objects. That becomes troublesome when you know what object you want to focus on but the camera doesn't. No amount of setting around with exposure or scene selection will allow to focus on precise things that you want to get them clear in view for a sharp shot. They will be photoed blurry. What would help like mobile phones where you have a touchscreen and you can tap on the object on your display image for the camera to manually focus on that image and provide a sharp view on your display. So it doesn't matter that the camera has excellent automatic scene recognition, exposure, brightness, colour, contrast and vividity, if your not able to focus exactly on what you want in the environment then your going to get blurry photos.

I bought this as I am going to more car events and found carrying my Nikon DSLR with its various lenses became a chore particularly for quick snaps. The HX 90 is so small and light I can carry it in my top pocket and it produces wonderful pictures. The 30x zoom is an added bonus.

I bought this a few years ago mainly because it has a viewfinder - so you can see what you're taking even on na sunny day? It's a nice little camera but recently I decided to start transferring images wirelessly to computer instead of messing about with a card reader - only to find the necessary app (SonyPlayMemories) was discontinued a year ago.

So sadly I can't recommend and have reflected this in the design rating.

I take this camera on all my travels , and the view finder is the icing on the cake, no worries in bright sunlight trying to see on the display , just pop the button and use the viewfinder .

The Sony HX90V is not the perfect camera, if ever that even exist. But Sony managed to give the photographer extremely important aspects in just one camera. The true pocket size, the true long super zoom, a true electronic viewfinder, a true twist high definition lcd, and a true colorful and crispy image processing. Wonder camera.

Overall pictures quality is over the average . Mostly used when big zoom needed. Battery stamina is impressive (more than 400 pictures). Very long menu, can personalize many things. Stabilization when capture video, could be better.

I already have Sony RX 100 Mark 3, Mark 5, mark 6 and Sony a6000 with various lenses. One of the things that I miss is Sony abandoning the apps that was so good on the mark 3 and the a6000 why did Sony do this they will wonderful and the best feature of the cameras. I bought the new Sony the hx 90v primarily because of the zoom and the convenience of carrying a lighter cheaper version of the RX100 with me I'm not disappointed good camera

I am happy continuing to use this camera. It’s has design faults however.

1. I have just again lost the case for it. The case is fastened but two popper buttons which are insufficient. At least one of them need to be screw-in. Then the case will not fall off in busy places where its loss is not noticed in the rush and bustle. Twice this has happened and replaced event is not cheap. This feature is very annoying, but so easy for Sony to fix.
2. The battery charging socket is very difficult to use. It has to be held open at the same time as holding the camera and inserting the cable plus.
3. The power on/off switch is too small, requiring a nail tip to use. Why can’t it be an obvious switch like other functions on the camera.
   
   

I hope Sony is not deaf to these points.

I have been delighted with the HX20 for many years. The only problem with the HX20 was that in sun you could not see the image on the back screen. The HX90 overcame this problem with the new viewfinder. To me the additional benefits provided by the HX99 did not justify the additional £100. Unfortunately I believe the HX90 has ceased production.I don't use the sound so unable to comment so given it an average score

I replaced my H 90 with with one. The zoom is ok but macro should be better. A bit fiddly to transfer via WIFI. Very tedious, complicated , too many menus and app to get your photos to your phone.

Bought this a few months ago and never looked back. My SLR had got a bit heavy for me so decided on the HX90V. It has everything I need and the quality is amazing.

Needed a camera that had a view finder as find my mobile phone difficult to see the screen on bright days. It's so compact so easy to keep on you.

The camera could be better if I could transfer photos from camera to iPad tried using the connection through the wi fi but never works. Also never realised it does not recognise where you are when using the camera

I bought this camera a while ago, to replace my aging Ricoh compact. I was initially interested in the length of lens, but then discovered it’s more than just a long lens

I bought the HX90 about 18 months ago. Previously I was using a HX60 which is great. The HX90 has two other advantages:

1 The EV finder - beats the problem of screen reflections when the sun is behind me.

2 The tiltable screen - extends photographic compositions and avoids needing to kneel down to capture rectilinear shots.

I use this camera as a carry everywhere point and click when I spot interesting scenes. It's compact and the zoom makes it a great substitute for my larger Sony camera, which I use when setting out specifically to take shots.

I'd have liked an option to capture RAW images, however the quality of the jpegs means the results are fine for social media.

The pop up viewfinder is neat.

I bought it a few weeks ago. This nice box has so many possibilities that it requires a 393 pages French user manual. I understand only part of the explanations ... and I still only use, with success, the all-automatic mode and the zoom. Note that I'have been taking picture for a very long time with simpler - and good - cameras. I would like to take training on this device. Where can I find a trainer ?

Replacement for same model (6 years old, damage when dropped meant costly repair). Could not find anything better for holiday/walking photos of landscape, buildings and sights. Weight, size, zoom, quality of picture, ease of use and price still made it my preferred choice. Plenty of versatility for more technically minded. Speed of zoom to refocus needs care.

I am not too happy with the steady shot it doesn't work very well especially on video

A birthday present to replace a broken 30 x optical zoom older cybershot. It still has the same issue with the thumb rest being next to the video button, so you can easily take video when you want a still shot. It does feel a cheaper casing to my older camera.

I bought this camera to replace a Nikon S9700 that I had for several years. I wanted a camera with integrated GPS, good optical zoom, and a small size. After a lot of comparison, I went with it - although the model is few years old, I don't regret the choice. It is a really great compact camera - full of feature. It works very well and produce excellent pictures.
