I use this lens for years and it was wonderful. It is a heavy lens with a pump mechanism but the versatility has no equivalent. I don’t know why Canon has not made a more recent RF lighter lens able to cover this range. I would buy one immediately

When I bought this lens I was not sure that I made the right decision but after using it pleasantly surprised with the quality of pictures. This is the only lens I need as I mainly photograph cityscape.

Focusing is fast and accurate & the range from wide angle to telephoto is all most photographers need.

I have had this lens for many years and find it to be very practical, it disappears into a shoulder bag (non-camera dedicated) for security and allows me to quickly get the shots I want without fiddling around changing lens. I use this lens with a Canon EOS 5D III body and for some wildlife shots I do use a Canon EF 1.4x III extender. I have been using one for over a year now and the autofocus works well if you have the light to focus. The extender does limit the lower range of the lens by physically restricting the zoom movement, but if you use an extender, then you would really only be using the top range of 200-300mm anyway to get the wildlife or action shots.

Although this is a heavy lens to hang around your neck, if you are a dedicated photographer, this would be a minor point, for the quality of the results it provides.

The lens which I bought a few months ago has proved a great success. Much easier to use than changing lenses all the time although slightly heavy using a monopod or tripod sorts that out. The only thing against this lens is you cannot use an extender but that is only a minor irritation and I am glad I bought it
