    14” is more that enough!

    I got my WSM to be my portable smoker since I own a large one, but since I first lit it, it has become my main smoker. I used to burn between 4-6 kgs of coal now I do 1 kg and it lasts for more than 8 hrs. I use it to grill as well as to smoke and despite it seems the cooking area is small, it holds easily 2 -3 pieces of meat to grill or 1 big chunk to smoke.

    Love this smoker!

    Great smoker, easy to use, fairly easy to clean up. It helps I already have a Weber iGrill with 3 probes, so keep an eye on smoker temp and meat temp.

    Does the job the smaller smoke jobs

    Weber delivers quality product again. Doesn't disappoint. One design flaw (which the 18 and 22 product don't have) is the ash tray is inside the WSM so if you're smoking the a long time, the ash builds up at the bottom of the WSM and you can't clear it so she doesn't circulate around the coals, making it more difficult to maintain/raise the heat. If you're looking to do small smoking jobs, this product is perfect. Anything larger/longer than a 3-4 hr smoke, best bet too go with 18 or 22.

    This was a retirement gift when I retired from Omaha Steaks. For the last 12 years it has been used 3_4 times a month. 3 ten pound. Turkeys no problem. Ribs I can't smoke enough. Awesome smoker.

    Phenomenal!

    I finally bought one of these after wanting one for years and I can say that I am incredibly impressed so far. - Clarification: I am NOT a paid reviewer -

    This smoker is built well and in USA.

    I'm not recommending this, but the cool thing about the 14" is that you can actually put the included cover on, stick it in the back seat of a vehicle (upright), put a seatbelt on it, and take it anywhere. I've hauled this in my compact car to about 5 state parks and kayak on a lake while I cook some ribs.

    Everything comes off the grill cooked to perfection and juicy and the smoker is efficient in my opinion. It's not big, so 18 briquettes can last you 5 hours no problem. In fact I'm still on the first large bag of charcoal yet. As others have mentioned, it takes one or two runs to get some tacky grease on the rims of the smoker so it seals really well, but after that the upper end of the temperature range is easy to hit and it will stay there even if the temperatures are below freezing. The dual-deck design is big enough for two sets of ribs (cut) and a loin plus some potatoes. A whole chicken or turkey would be no problem on this. I can't imagine needing more space unless I'm cooking for more than 6 people.

    If you need to add charcoal, you simply pop the access door open and add maybe...like...three or four briquettes if needed.

    Perhaps I am looking through rose-colored glasses, but this smoker really does seem like the pinnacle of convenience and design and I would recommend it as a first and last smoker grill to anyone looking for one. It's a shame I waited -this long- to finally buy one really.

    easy to use

    So easy to use. I almost didn't get a smoker because of all the stories about how hard it is. This smoker is very easy to use and regulating the cooking temperature is as simple as can be.

    Well Built - just one small issue

    Typical of Weber this little guy is well built and very easy to put the pieces together…except for one thing. A rubber grommet must be inserted into a large hole in the side of the smoker. It’s nearly impossible to get it situated. Then to insert probes through the slit without tearing or poking that grommet back out - equally hard. The smoker itself works great. Easy to manage temps by controlling the air flow.

    R2D2 lookalike is the real Jedi

    Please do not go by this tiny monsters diminutive appearance. It punches way above its weight for that tiny body. It's R2D2 like appearance has my two middleschoolers fawning over it.

    Ol' Reliable

    I love this cooker smoker. I bought one for my dad almost 20 years ago, and he still makes amazing smoked meats with it. My friend bought one about 2 years ago and has had the best gatherings because of it. This smoker, no matter which size you get, makes the best smoked meats I have eaten. Now, I have the opportunity to spoil my friends and family with smoked meats cooked in this black diamond.

    Love Our Weber!

    Amazing smoker for two seniors! First time using it we had delicious apple wood smoked salmon. Next, mesquite smoked gourmet burgers. Last time we smoked chicken breasts with cherry wood chunks and they were great! We live at 5000ft so the WSM needs all the vents open to get to 250F. That makes things easy. Having the probe access port is perfect for keeping an eye on the meat. Low and slow is the method here. Smoking anywhere between 225F and 250F between 90min and two hours does the trick for the two of us. Next up? Post Oak Tri-Tip. I am happy! 5-stars!

    Solid smoker - get the 18

    Awesome little smoker - easily handled 4lbs of tri tip and could have thrown on another pork butt. This was my first Weber product so I went with the cheap one but in hindsight I'd go for the 18".

    Little smoker with big results

    At first I thought this would be a tiny smoker, but was very surprised to see the capacity across the two racks - we easily cooked a whole spatchcocked chicken and two salmon fillets on the smoker. The smoked flavor was deep and complex, the food was done in the time suggested. Very pleased with our trial run. Looking forward to 4th July bbq!

    Flaw in design of the 14" Smokey Mountain

    The problem with this smoker is that if using and it rains, the lid directs the water inside of the smoker and extinguishes the charcoal. A better design would have the lid direct the water to the outside. In Florida a quick downpour ruins the smoking process and creates a mess. Other than this it would be a real good product.

    Works great

    It works great. Holds a pretty consistent temp. I smoked a 10lb pork butt on it. I had to add a little fuel towards the end.

    Its okay

    For the price, it's...okay. I would actually rate this a 3.5/5 stars. It does not hold It's temperature very well, especially when its chilly outside (50's). You might get an hour of consistent temperature but I always find myself having to feed it more fuel. I use lump charcoal or professional briquettes with a smattering of wetted wood chips. The water bowel always gets in the way when trying to add more fuel too, which is very annoying. The hatch style door is very cumbersome and never wants to latch easily/properly so you end up losing more heat while your fiddling around with it. An improved and more functional design needs to be addressed on the latter two issues. Lastly, I don't care for the placement/location of the rubber grommet to insert your wired temperature probe. There should be one above the top rack for easy insertion into the top of your meat, not from below. Perhaps that's just personal preference but it would be more beneficial in my opinion. All of that being said, yes, it does smoke meat. But, I don't think that I would buy this unit again.
