Pentax is set to unite the worlds of digital filmmaking and digital photography with the launch of its new OptioMX. In combining 3.2 effective megapixels with a 10-times optical zoom, this palm sized camera and is able to capture great stills as well as high quality movie footage. The latter is delivered through the incorporation of the MPEG-4 format, newly introduced to digital cameras. With an ergonomic grip handle and swivelling colour LCD monitor, the OptioMX can take pictures and movies from any angle. So whether you want to make home-movies or capture high-quality digital images, you can do either without compromising on quality. The OptioMX, Pentax's first full-capacity digital camcorder , will be priced at approximately œ350 and will be available from June 2004.
