[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Unique. Physically huge but easy to handle. The transit box stood to the height of my chest. The whole package weighed over 64 kg. Could have been a problem but SONY included a guidance sheet on how to unpack it. It was a doddle. Moving it around was easy too. Two people can easily lift it as the are wide knurled easy- grip bare at each end. I moved it about using the wheels on the bottom. So easy. As well as standing it upright you can lay it on its side. You can even lay on it if you choose. Not sure why you'd do that other than for it to be your own little party piece. How then to set up. Using the Sound Connect App it took just seconds to link my phone to it using bluetooth. Opened my favourite music app and straight away I got sound and a lightshow. Couldn't have been simpler. The sound was something else. Tried the four options included. All easily available by pressing the ULT button on the front of the speaker and scrolling through the options. I settled on the LIVE option.Though I can see the merits of the others. Each sound option can be further tuned using the graphics equaliser in the App. So you'll always be able to achieve your favourite sound. Me, I love clarity. Not too much bass and I love to hear all those incidental sounds that can sometimes get lost in the heavily compressed files of the digital era. I couldn't have wished for more from this speaker. In the house there was too much power. I put a glass of water on a table 3m away and you could see the vibration through it on even the lowest volume. I took it outside into the back yard and racked the volume up to full wack. It's a wonder my face didn't fall off, I was grinning from ear to ear. I went onto the street at the back of the house and the sound was sonically clear. The vast power meant the whole street could take in the experience, even if they didn't want to. Don't worry, I only gave them a short burst. Just loved it. So then, what to do? Explore, that's what. Hugely impressive connectivity gives you a vast array of options for the input and ultimately what you'll end up using it for. It's not a domestic speaker. It has to be used in vast rooms, and the commercial opportunities will be wide and varied. If DJ'ing is your thing you won't go far wrong with this. Add a speaker and the stereo effect will be wonderful. If it's Karaoke, then with the additional mic available at extra cost you will be straight into a surefire revenue generator. The bumph says you can chain up to 100 speakers together for what I can only imagine is an "otherworldly sound experience". On this scale you are talking Arena filling sound. Did I mention the light show? You can select from various options including one that is tuned to the beat of the music. It's mesmeric. Turn the room lights down and you could be in the coolest of night clubs. The App provides many other options to allow you to tailor the sound and lightshow to suit your needs. So what will I use it for? First off I have a local charity event. I'll check out the mic options first but may well just run a soundtrack of my favourite music with yours truly filling in with some local colour. This speaker will do everything you need, just make sure you have the venue that measures up to the sound quality!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Sony ULT TOWER MAX is a no-compromise party speaker that trades portability for raw, house-shaking power. It has three 280mm woofers, four tweeters, and up to 2,150W of output, delivering deep, visceral bass that you feel in your chest — the ULT1 mode keeps things punchy and clear, while ULT2 pushes the low-end into overdrive. You can feel your clothes vibrating when standing close with it cranked up full. It’s an impressive piece of kit! Connectivity is pro-grade with XLR, RCA, and USB-C inputs, plus Party Chain linking with other Sony ULT speakers (though yet to try this) and karaoke features, which will make entertaining fantastic. It’s hefty at over 50kg, but it has solid wheels and handgrips for easy manoeuvrability. I would say it’s overkill for casual home use and best suited for DJs, large outdoor events, or anyone who wants to literally shake the walls. I plan to use it for events, karaoke nights and in the garden when the better weather comes back round.
