I went through two other "sling" bags before this one, both of which turned out to be waist packs with a single strap bolted on — the body rotates, rides up, and never sits where you want it. The Tomtoc Explorer-T21 is the real thing, and the difference is obvious the moment it is on your shoulder.

What works:

• Compact on the outside, but genuinely roomy. It has swallowed a small umbrella without drama, alongside the usual powerbank, cables and glasses.
• Two strong external hitching points. A Nite Ize style carabiner clips on properly, so extra accessories can ride outside without eating internal space.
• The shoulder strap is designed for crossbody carry from the start, not adapted from a waist belt. The anchor geometry is what makes it stay put instead of swinging.
• The pouch count and level of organization are the real win. Worn on the front of the chest while travelling, everything stays reachable without ever unshouldering the main pack — no squatting on a platform to dig for a passport. For me this makes a 1.5-bag setup work better than true one-bag travel, which always ends up with the one bag on the ground.
  
  

What does not:

• Packed out, it gets tight if you are trying to wear a jacket over the top of the crossbody. Worth planning around if you are layering in cold weather — either the bag goes over the jacket, or you accept a snug fit underneath.
  
  

Small complaint against a bag that otherwise does exactly what it claims. Would buy again.
