I have stayed with Sony since the Walkman days. The Walkman revolutionised the way we listen to music. Despite all the noise from competitors for me Sony still leads the way. 360 quality. When I put them on I always get this feeling that transports me back to the 80s sat commuting to work on the bus listening to every chord on ‘Rattlesnakes’ by Loyd Cole and the Commotions.Joy. Thank you Sony.

Loving the XM6s. Sound is amazing, they look awesome. Hopefully they'll last a while too.

I was given these for my 80th birthday. The sound quality is excellent but they do make your ears a bit sweaty in this heatwave we’re having. The only drawback is with the noise cancelling as I don’t know my wife is talking to me until she slaps me round the back of my head!

I bought the MX1000- 6 because of its overall sound quality - particularly with spoken voice. I’m very happy with them but negatives are working with the Sound Connect app to be overly difficult - especially with regard to spatial sound - and there should be extra room for expansion at the top of the headpiece - I find it to be excessively tight on the top of my head. Still a great product.

They weren’t cheap, but I managed to get them at a great price. They performed really well on the flight to Tunisia and are working equally well by the pool. Whilst they pack a punch in the bass department, they don’t block out every sound. That said, they reduce external noise enough that even low-volume music makes the background nearly unnoticeable.

I also own Bose, Shokz, and JBL headphones, so I have some experience to compare them with. That said, they all serve different purposes — it’s like comparing chalk and cheese. Where these fall a bit short is the app: the equalizer isn’t very comprehensive, and there’s no voice-pass-through mode.

Aside from that, these are excellent headphones. Once you get the fit right, they’re very comfortable, though like most on-ear or over-ear models they can get a bit warm in hot climates. They’re a strong addition to my collection for the gym, running, commuting, and listening at home.

I love these headphones! It took me months before I finally bought them. I was worried they'd push against my piercings and hurt, that the noise cancellation wasn't as brilliant as it was advertised to be. But! They don't hurt my ears or head! And the noise cancellation is chef's kiss. Also, the fact that it detects when I'm moving and changes to ambient sound so I can hear my surroundings is brilliant. The colour is so pretty too. It does get a little hot though and it's icky to see the sweat on the pads, but nothing a little clean can't handle.

I got these headphones a few weeks ago and I’m very happy with them. I wanted some really good noise cancelling ones and these don’t disappoint. I wore them to the gym and couldn’t hear the gym music at all while listening to music, some background noise can be heard when listening to podcasts but that doesn’t bother me.

Great listening quality. Comfortable for longer wearing periods.

Excellent headphones. Only not 5 star due to extremely short usb charging cable which is almost impossible to use.

Sound quality and ANC are excellent.

Ear cushioning is not great. You can feel it pressing and hearts a little after an hour.

Great headphones, really enjoy the sound quality and the noise cancelling. Side of the headphones I also enjoy the. Controls of the headphones on the side of the headphones really good.

TLDR: for my use case, this is a disaster of headphones. The only good thing I found was the color (hiekka).

Here's my honest and rather passionate review, so if you've decided to read, brace yourself.

Background:

I'm a long-time user of Sony headphones, started with their wired models, with my latest being XM3 and then two pairs of XM4 one after another. XM4 covered all my needs (the cups were on a shallower side though, but nothing crazy).

I really, really wanted to like XM6.

Things XM6 doesn't deliver:

• Comfort. Shallow cups, ridiculously thin padding on the band; the cups are attached to the band only at two smaller points, so the tops of the cups will be squeezing your temples while the bottom parts will be rather loose - the construction only applies pressure to the top and not at the center like older models or something like Bose. It's not only uncomfortable, but also not good for the seal (ANC, bass). This is probably possible to live with if you exercise radical acceptance.
• Sound quality. The sound is thin like paper, harsh like sand; zero warmth, zero meat, bass sounds like you're walking through a bog; mids, vocals - nothing here sounds good. Someone somewhere called the sound of these "mud fiesta", and I can't agree more. See more info below about EQ and settings.
• Punch. None; void; the bog is all you'll get.
  
  

LDAC, EQ, variety of settings - I've tried every single thing to make them sound at least as good as my old XM4.

At some point I though my pair must be defective, because how could so many people say this is acceptable?

I seriously question all the youtube praise reviews at this point. It is not humanly possible that no one paid attention to all those problems, especially with the sound.

I've been using this series since XM3, had 3 pairs through years (skipped XM5), and I don't understand what happened in this latest model.

If you listen to something calm and toothless and don't mind sand, these might work. Maybe they are also superior in ANC - but with this sound, I seriously don't care.

If you listen to something more demanding, with bass and all, there is just no punch in those whatsoever, and they sound as flat as old wired earpods, and more sandy than any other headphones I've had in the last ~10 years. No amount of EQ tweaking and settings changes fixes this.

XM4 sound much better than these. Old first generation Airpods Pro sound better than these. My ~70 EUR gym JBL sound better than these. And all three are much more comfortable than these.

All checks were done with the same phone (S24 Ultra), fine-tuned settings in Sony app specifically for my XM4 and these headphones (they have different EQ, XM6 lacks separate bass slider, etc.) to compare, and tested on the same exact songs which sound I know very well.

Apparently, music is not really a supported use case for XM6.

Maybe they are good as an accessory, or for calls (this one I didn't check, because the sound quality is a dealbreaker).

I wish I saw a comment like this before even considering this purchase, but all I see online is praise, which in my opinion is completely undeserved.

UPD: apparently, they have 30mm driver (vs 40mm in XM4), which is at least partly responsible for the punch absence.

UPD 2: they feature metal hinges - small, but keep in mind if you plan wearing them outside in a cold weather.

UPD 3: the case with magnetic clip is convenient, but be careful if you're planning to carry it clipped outside of your bag.

I hope someone who reads this review will learn from my mistake of relying on the established series and does thorough research before purchasing XM6 to make sure these cover their specific needs.

High quality and comfortable. Noise canceling works extremely well. On flights it is very nice

Bought this a couple of weeks ago and the sound quality is great! Very comfortable too!! Only downside is that they show every fingerprint very easily.

Quality as always with Sony headphones. I own the XM5 over ear, XM6 in ear. These headphones have a quality build, feel light but sturdy have excellent comfort. I can wear for hours at a time without any problems. The sound is excellent especially through the sound connect app. Multiple configurations for equaliser to your liking, outstanding noise cancelling. Love them would highly recommend them.

Absolutely incredible headphones would be an understatement

Sound quality is great but connection to PC is terrible. I had to by extra third party software to make them connect. With a headphone at this premium price i was stunned that they didn't work out of the box and i had to spend a few hours to find a workaround.

I rocked my WH-1000XM3s for six solid years and thought ANC headphones couldn't get much better. I was wrong. I am completely astonished by how much of a leap the WH-1000XM6s are.

Sony finally brought back the folding hinges, making them beautifully compact for travel again. The noise cancellation is next-level, completely erasing high-pitched background chatter that my XM3s couldn't quite block. The sound is noticeably richer with deeper, cleaner bass, and the seamless multipoint Bluetooth switching is a massive quality-of-life upgrade. They also feel lighter and more comfortable during long sessions.

If you've been holding onto an older pair wondering if the upgrade is worth it-it absolutely is. 5/5 stars.

Bought these headphones ahead of a 24 hours flight from UK to Australia. There were a lot of screaming kids and babies on this flight and the noise cancelling of these worked flawlessly.

I wore them throughout the entire flight and when I landed in Sydney, they still had 70% battery left!

Sound quality is awesome, honestly what's not to like, love these...
